I'm an Extra, so What?-Chapter 24: Phantom Step
Chapter 24 - Phantom Step
Nobody could see a thing.
The lingering elemental spell skills filled the area with smoke, crackling energy, and scattered embers.
Slowly, the chaos began to settle.
The flames flickered out, the lightning faded, and the swirling water evaporated.
And then, standing on full display—the golden statue of the minotaur.
Silence.
For a moment, nobody spoke.
Only the sounds of heavy breathing and the dying crackle of magic skills filled the air.
Then, all at once—a deafening roar of cheers.
The warriors erupted in celebration, raising their weapons high, victorious.
Luka smirked, thinking to himself, 'Now, I pray there will be good Level 2 skills...'
But before he could call upon his system windows, the sound of heavy footsteps approached him.
Silas had walked over, his face unreadable, and the excitement around them quickly died down.
Luka arched an eyebrow. "Yes, Father?"
Silas stood stiff, his hands clenched at his sides.
His voice was low but firm. "Why did you order the mages to attack?"
Luka knew there was no use feigning ignorance.
His father wasn't a fool—he understood the mages would never have acted so recklessly unless ordered by someone of higher status.
Letting out a small sigh, Luka met his father's gaze without flinching.
"It was a worthy sacrifice," he said simply.
"There's no point in dwelling on it now. The battle is over, and if necessary, I'll compensate their families for their losses. But we must look forward to the future."
Without waiting for a response, Luka turned on his heel and began walking away.
He knew better than to openly challenge his father, but he also refused to back down.
His survival came first.
No matter how selfish it sounded.
Silas didn't respond, watching his son disappear into the small tower.
With a weary sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose and muttered.
"Is that truly my son?"

Whistling under his breath, Luka focused intently on the system windows floating before his vision as he walked back toward his family's estate.

"Ah~ all of them are so good!" Luka said to himself, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
He wanted them all now, but he knew he couldn't—sadly, he only had one skill point to spend.
Thankfully, all the skills he was considering cost the same amount, so he had a choice.
With a sigh, he placed his bow on a nearby bench and sat down, his fingers absentmindedly scratching his chin as he began to think.
It wasn't long before his mind was made up.
Luka moved his finger over the skill he wanted.
[Phantom Step]
For him, this was the perfect attack skill.
As skilled as he was with a bow, he needed something to boost his melee capabilities.
This would be ideal as his first Level 2 skill.
With a decisive click, Luka selected the skill.
Another window then popped up in front of him.

Luka clicked "Yes," and the system's voice echoed in his mind:
[Congratulations, you have learned the skill Phantom Step!]
'Nice, though I know that my next level, skills will cost more skill points... But that's fine. For now, I've got level 1 and level 2 skills that don't cost too much.'
He paused for a moment. 'Ah, I almost forgot about my Attributes!'
Luka swiped away a few system windows and then focused on his Attribute stats.
After a brief glance, he saw the option to allocate his skill point.
Without hesitation, he directed it toward Vigor.
Luka smiled as his health increased to 14 / 14.
'More health = me happy.'
With a quick swipe, he dismissed the rest of the system windows and stretched, a satisfied grin on his face.
'Alright~ I should check up on Snow.'

"Well, well, well... Little brother, I heard you actually participated in defending the settlement from the dungeon outbreak," Kai spoke, twirling her long, slender sword.
She was covered in various colors of monster blood.
"Um, yeah, just doing my role..." Luka let out a strained laugh, waving his hand in front of his nose.
The stench of monster blood was overwhelming.
'Why does she have to stand right in front of my room?' He thought, tempted to push her out of the way but reluctant to touch any of the disgusting liquid.
Kai frowned, her eyes narrowing. "Little brother, I don't want you doing something like that again. It's far too dangerous."
Luka shook his head. "No can do. I need to level up."
Kai stopped playing with her sword and paused, considering his words.
After a moment of silence, she spoke again, her voice softening slightly. "Leveling up, huh?" She tilted her head.
"How about I just bring you some monsters to kill? That would be a lot safer." Kai nodded to herself as though she'd just come up with a brilliant plan.
Luka stepped back a little, his expression firm. "No... I need real fighting experience as well."
He then glanced at her, raising an eyebrow. "Also, off-topic, but how the hell are you covered in so much monster blood?!"
Kai looked down at herself, inspecting her arms, and the blood splattered across her clothing.
"This? Oh, I was tasked with killing any stragglers from the horde, and I found a decent number." She shrugged, as if it were nothing.
"Alright, and when will you take a bath?" Luka asked.
"A bath? Hmm, I guess I do smell a little bad..." Kai said, sniffing herself.
'Smell a little bad?' Luka was fighting the urge to faint!
