Chapter 84: Chapter 84

"I can’t believe you, Gusion!" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with annoyance. "If you had mentioned that you were coming here too, I wouldn’t have jumped to conclusions!"

Gusion couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction. There was something endearing about the way she was grumbling, and he found himself smiling more than he expected. "Well, it’s your fault for not asking. Besides, are my ears deceiving me? Are we on a first-name basis now?"

Remillia’s face flushed an even deeper shade of red, and she hurriedly moved towards the elevator, her embarrassment evident. "I-I’m going up now!"

"Hey, wait up!" Gusion called after her, quickening his pace.

Remillia, in her haste, kept pressing the close button on the elevator, but despite her efforts, Gusion managed to slip inside just before the doors closed. He leaned casually against the elevator wall, looking at her with a mischievous grin.

"Why didn’t you wait for me?" he asked, his tone playful.

"Huh? Sorry, I didn’t hear you," Remillia replied, her voice strained as she tried to hide her face behind her hand.

Gusion raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Is that so? You seem awfully eager to avoid me."

Remillia’s blush deepened, and she stammered, "I-I wasn’t avoiding you! I just—"

"Just what?" Gusion teased, leaning in slightly. "You’re acting like I’m going to bite you or something."

She shot him a sideways glance, trying to muster up some dignity. "It’s not like that. I just didn’t expect you to be so... so..."

"So charming?" Gusion suggested with a grin.

Remillia rolled her eyes, though a small smile tugged at her lips despite her best efforts. "Whatever. Just don’t make a big deal out of this."

The elevator dinged, announcing their arrival at the designated floor. Remillia quickly stepped out, eager to put some distance between herself and Gusion.

Gusion followed her, still smiling. "You know, you’re really something else, Remillia. It’s never dull around you."

"Thanks, I guess," she replied, her voice softening despite her embarrassment. "Let’s just get this report over with."

As they made their way to Professor Orion’s office, Gusion stayed close, his teasing demeanor replaced with a genuine interest in her well-being. Remillia, while still flustered, felt a strange sense of comfort with his presence despite his annoying remarks.

As Remillia and Gusion pushed open the door to Professor Orion’s office, they were met with a sight that was almost comical. The professor was buried behind an enormous pile of documents, only his stern voice cutting through the clutter.

"Who dared to barge into my office without knocking?" Professor Orion demanded, his tone sharp and authoritative.

Remillia, unfazed, casually walked to the front desk and took a seat in the chair behind it. Gusion followed suit, taking a seat beside her.

"Professor, we’re done with the mission," Remillia announced with a hint of nonchalance.

Instantly, the professor’s demeanor shifted from intimidating to cheerful. He pushed the mountain of documents aside, his face lighting up with interest. "How did my favorite apprentice do with her first mission?"

Gusion, caught off guard by the sudden change, started to speak up. "Are you talking about me? Well, I did go—"

Before he could finish, a stack of papers was hurled at him, landing squarely on his face. Professor Orion’s glare was sharp and pointed. "Why are you here?"

"I’m hurt," Gusion said, brushing the papers off with a bemused expression. "You also sent me there to overlook the mission"

Professor Orion just glared at him, "Well then you’re free to leave. Now, shoo."

Gusion jokingly clutched his chest as he pretended to faint, "If I hadn’t accompanied Remillia here, she couldn’t have known where your office is."

"Wait, you two.. alone?"

"Yup. The mercenaries also went there way and the two of us travelled together to go here."

Professor Orion’s eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint as he realized his plan to bring them together was unfolding nicely. He smiled in glee and turned his attention back to Remillia. "So, Remillia, care to brief me on how the mission went?"

Remillia was about to begin her report when the Professor interrupted her.

"Oh wait, before that," He called someone on the intercom and ordered to bring some desserts.

After a moment, desserts and a cup of coffee and milk were served as his assistants hurriedly cleansed his table. Remillia’s eyes twinkled as she saw the desserts.

"You can have desserts as you speak."

"Thank you Professor."

"Wait, where’s my coffee?"

"Oh you’re still here?"

Gusion can’t believe that his mentor was ignoring him, ’who’s his apprentice again? Was it supposed to be me?’

Remillia cleared her throat and began her report, her tone professional and detailed. "We encountered several Fowlshiet monsters during our mission. The team and I faced them in multiple engagements. Initially, there were some coordination issues, but as we fought more, our teamwork improved significantly. We managed to eliminate all the monsters, with each battle becoming more efficient as we progressed."

She paused for a moment before grabbing a cream puff and stuffing it into her mouth. She can’t help but be amazed at how it quickly melted inside her mouth. After that she took a sip of her milk before continuing to speak.

She continued, detailing the specific tactics used, the challenges faced, and the overall outcome of the mission. "Sir Gusion provided valuable support throughout, using his healing and protective spells effectively. The mercenaries were initially skeptical, but they grew to trust my leadership as the mission advanced."

As she spoke, she didn’t notice that Gusion dipped a piece of cookie into her cup. The Professor didn’t also notice it as he was listening intently to what his favorite student is saying, "Very good, Remillia. It sounds like you and your team handled the situation well."

Remillia nodded, a hint of pride in her voice. "Thank you, Professor. It was a challenging experience, but we managed to overcome the obstacles."

Orion’s smile widened. "I’m pleased to hear that. And Gusion, I see you’ve been an excellent companion to Remillia."

Gusion, still recovering from the paper assault and how his mentor easily forgot about him, gave a wry smile. "I did what I could. It was a good opportunity to work with her."

Professor Orion clapped his hands together, signaling the end of the meeting. "Excellent work, both of you. Remillia, your performance was commendable. I trust you’ll continue to build on these experiences."

"You can contact me anytime for my next mission, Prof."

"What a sweet student. Here, you can have all these desserts."

Remillia widened her eyes in surprise as she tried to refuse however Professor already called in one of his assistants as it quickly packed all the desserts and gave it to her.

"I guess, thank you for this Prof."

"You go now, it’s already getting late. Ba-bye!"

"Goodbye Prof."

Gusion also tried to bid goodbye but Professor only slammed his door shut at him. I can’t help but laugh at his reaction.

"What did you do to him anyway?"

"I don’t know what’s wrong with that old man. Ever since he met you, he got grumpy with me!"

Remillia only chuckled at his reaction as they walked out of the building. The sky was clear, and the sun was just beginning to cast its warm glow over the city, signaling the start of a new day.

Gusion turned to Remillia, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Well, this is where we part ways for now," he said. "I have to head to the Magic Tower for some important matters."

Remillia nodded, her expression a hint of gratitude "I understand. Thank you for all your help today, Gusion."

"If you ever need any assistance or just want to talk, don’t hesitate to reach out, we make a great team."

With a final smile and a wave, Gusion turned and began walking. Remillia watched him go. As Gusion disappeared into the distance, Remillia turned in the opposite direction, heading towards the academy.

The next day, Remillia finally had her sweet beak. With her friends scattered across the land, either returning to their homes or attending to their duties as heirs and heiresses of their respective guilds and the almost all of the students left the academy, only a few them stayed here so the academy felt unusually quiet, and the usual buzz of activity was missing.

Finally happy of lazing around doing nothing, she decided to watch a movie but she later got bored then she tried to sleep but her eyes were wide awake. She played with Macaron but he only scowled at her as he was trying to sleep. She went to the kitchen to cook but she only knows how to make a sandwich and the contents of her refrigerator were mostly pre-cooked meals. In the end, she got bored staying on her room.

"Curse this body! I need my quality rest so why is my body not following me?!"

Then she realized something, she must have gotten used to training and killing monsters.
