I Want to Die, But I Am Immortal-Chapter 102: Blast (6)
Her whole form was concealed under the weighty sheet of metal. She was secure for the moment. The aftermath of the explosion lingered, creating a heavy silence that enveloped everything.
Chaos erupted in the factory as people stumbled around, disoriented, their ears ringing and minds spinning from the unexpected explosion.
Adam rose, his gaze burning with a chilly force. His first target was the man who had held Sophia by the hair, the man who had audaciously inflicted pain upon her.
He charged at him with incredible speed, a whirlwind of movement in the violent aftermath. He seized the man by the collar and lunged toward the factory gate.
He forcefully pushed him against the heavy metal door, the sound echoing with a disturbing thud.
The man was still reeling from the explosion.
The second impact of his body colliding with the unyielding steel unleashed a surge of agonizing pain that coursed through him entirely. He was unaware of what was wrong, but the pain in his back was excruciating.
Before he could fully comprehend the situation, Adam tore two long steel rebar rods from the factory’s decaying concrete wall.
He twisted the sturdy metal rods around the man’s arms effortlessly, securing him to the gate as if they were mere playthings. Fueled by his fury, Adam’s power surged to extraordinary levels.
Adam plans to face this man later; however, he must first handle the situation with those people in the factory. Consequently, he will ensure this man does not evade capture, as he seeks retribution.
He had the power to take the man down effortlessly with just one strike. However, he decided against it. He intended for him to feel the consequences. He intended for him to observe.
He cast a glance across the factory at Johnny, who was attempting to rise to his feet on the opposite side of the room. He would not take his life either. He would ensure that the man faced the consequences of his actions without any mercy.
He would inundate his thoughts with such dread that he would be haunted by visions of himself for eternity.
Adam then focused on the two guards who were now struggling to get back on their feet near the gate. They were nearest to the blast and remained in a state of shock and disorientation.
They were his next targets. He would begin with them. He was determined to address the situation directly. He was determined to make Johnny and his crew understand what real fear felt like.
They lifted their automatic rifles, hands shaking as they struggled to focus on the boy who had suddenly materialized before them. However, Adam outpaced him.
He retrieved his automatic rifle from his inventory and executed them both with two swift, accurate shots to the head. They collapsed to the ground, their bodies devoid of life before they had a chance to fire their weapons.
Before anyone else could respond, before Johnny could even get back on his feet, Adam focused his gaze on the men on the balcony.
He called forth a second automatic rifle from his inventory, gripping one in each hand. He unleashed a furious torrent of flames at the men above.
They dropped one after another, their forms cascading over the railing to the factory floor beneath.
The men on the ground floor finally regained their composure. They began to unleash their bullets, sending dust and debris swirling around Adam. Three rounds struck him squarely in the chest.
His Iron Skin held, yet he understood that remaining exposed was not a viable option for long. He needed to seek shelter.
He discarded one of his empty rifles and grabbed another from the lifeless body of a mercenary on the ground. He fired back while sprinting towards the metal staircase that ascended to the balcony.
He sprang onto the balcony, landing in a crouch among the lifeless bodies of the men he had just dispatched. There remained eighty men in this place, all equipped with automatic rifles.
They unleashed a barrage of gunfire, a thunderous cacophony that echoed throughout the entire factory. Yet his Iron Skin had grown even more resilient, strengthened by the multitude of lives he had claimed.
The bullets struck him without effect, bouncing off his skin like pebbles off a sturdy stone wall.
His enhanced stat points had fortified his Iron Skin even further. He navigated the men on the balcony with unwavering determination.
The bullets ricocheted off him without effect, while his own shots struck true with lethal accuracy. He took them all down, eighty in total, without a single mark on him, their bodies collapsing onto the cold metal floor.
From the ground floor, Johnny observed in disbelief as his elite guard was decimated. He assembled his loyal companions, creating a close-knit circle around him. He exploited them as a barrier, seeking to evade the chaos.
He sprinted toward the sheltered pathway that linked to the other factory, the structure he had believed was his refuge. However, as he approached, he noticed dense black smoke billowing from it.
He realized it was time to leave that place behind. He needed to find a way out of this perilous situation. He signaled to his men to make their way to the main exit, their last chance for survival.
Adam descended from the balcony, hitting the ground floor with a resounding thud.
Chaos engulfed the scene as panic spread among everyone. Amidst the turmoil of the explosion, Sophia’s absence went completely unnoticed. Not even Johnny. Everyone was preoccupied with their own survival.
Their greed, their confidence, their arrogance had all been overshadowed by a deep, all-consuming fear.
They had ceased firing at Adam. They were merely attempting to flee. This was just what he needed. His Iron Skin was starting to falter under the relentless barrage of flames it had endured.
However, he was no longer concerned about the threat of gunfire. He seized another automatic rifle from a fallen mercenary and pressed on with his rampage.
He took down the sixty men on the ground floor one by one as they desperately sought escape, their screams of terror creating a haunting melody of demise.
