Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Threat

Between Clouds and Waters.

Originally, they planned to hold a welcome banquet for her in a few days, but Violet Foote was too curious. After handing her luggage to the family butler, she dragged them to Between Clouds and Waters.

When Quiana Sutton took off her mask, Violet Foote was once again stunned.

She felt that she had never been so shocked in her life as she was today.

After the shock, she chuckled softly, "I used to wonder if there was anyone in this world who could outshine Durrell Landon, but it seems there’s always someone better out there."

Quiana Sutton didn’t speak; her gaze silently fell on Violet Foote. Violet Foote and Evelyn Windsor were entirely different. If Evelyn Windsor was like a solitary moon in the sky, then Violet Foote was a blazing sun.

Violet Foote was very beautiful, but not so beautiful as to be overwhelmingly aggressive. Her soft voice and gaze showed she was raised with love, distinctly different from Quiana.

She lifted her eyelids and unexpectedly met Durrell Landon’s eyes gazing at her.

For a moment, she didn’t know how to describe this look, it felt like his gentleness was reserved for her alone, but there was a hint of melancholy in this tenderness.

After a pause, she heard him speak:

"I don’t think I’ve ever seen you act spoiled."

In her world, there was never a need for such things as acting spoiled. What she needed was absolute strength and survival.

If that day ever came when she needed to act spoiled to survive, she thought she might do it.

She slowly stood up:

"You chat, I’ll go to the bathroom."

Violet Foote wasn’t familiar with her; having Quiana around meant many things couldn’t be said.

Once Quiana Sutton left the private room, Violet Foote couldn’t help but harass Charles Foote: "Quick, tell me how Durrell met Miss Sutton, and how they got married."

Charles Foote looked at Violet Foote with helplessness: "Wouldn’t it be easier for you to ask him directly about these things?"

Violet Foote pouted a little; Durrell Landon was like an old fox. Who knows how much of what he says is true or false?

She remembered countless childhood tricks he played on her, feeling almost a psychological shadow.

She looked at Charles Foote, smiling sweetly:

"In this world, the only one who won’t deceive me is you, Knight Tamworth."

Charles Foote paused and then revealed a helpless smile.

While heading to the bathroom, Quiana Sutton passed by a private room whose door was ajar, and she saw the two people inside.

It was Alexander Skylane and Northmount.

Upon seeing Northmount, chaotic and sorrowful past scenes instantly flashed in her mind; without thinking, she kicked open the door and walked in.

Alexander Skylane, seeing Quiana Sutton suddenly appear in the room, was momentarily stunned, "Cece, why are you here?"

Northmount was slightly surprised when he saw Quiana Sutton.

He hesitated for a split second, then stood up respectfully, calling, "Young Miss..."

Quiana Sutton sat down opposite him, a chilling aura naturally emerging:

"What are you doing here?"

Northmount hesitated for a moment but decided to speak: "The master asked me to pass a message and handle some affairs for Young Master Skylane."

"What message?"

He dared not meet Quiana Sutton’s eyes, instinctively glancing at Alexander Skylane, then decided to say: "The master asked me to convey that the fate of Aisha Group is in Young Master Skylane’s hands; please weigh your actions carefully."

Quiana Sutton listened to this, showing no reaction, she picked up the dining knife on the table, hefted it in her hand briefly, and before Northmount could respond, a cold blade brushed past his neck in a swift arc.

"Northmount, go back and tell your master if there are any issues to come to me directly and leave Alexander Skylane out of this; if he dares to go against Aisha Group, I won’t hesitate to kill him myself!"

Northmount instinctively touched his neck, feeling blood seep down; the knife had almost cut through his main artery.

Quiana Sutton had clearly been on the brink of killing intent just now.

He clutched his neck and spoke with difficulty:

"I will deliver Young Miss’s message."

After speaking, without lingering, he left the private room; his top priority now was stopping the bleeding.

After Northmount left the room, Alexander Skylane remained still for a while, staring at Quiana Sutton.

Quiana Sutton appeared indifferent, speaking softly:

"What? Did you just find me terrifying?"

Alexander Skylane shook his head. To him, Quiana Sutton was always Quiana Sutton, never changing.

But the distance between the two seemed to be growing.

Distant to the point where she was just beside him, yet he never knew what she was thinking.

...

Quiana Sutton had been gone to the bathroom for a long time without returning, making Durrell Landon a bit restless.

"I’m going to find her."

Oliver Gale glanced at Durrell Landon, smiling warmly: "The girl’s only been gone twenty minutes, and you’re already so worried?"

Durrell Landon lazily glanced at him but didn’t reply, then left the private room with long strides.

Violet Foote enviously remarked: "They really are in love..."

In love?!

Oliver Gale laughed merrily at this comment; if he didn’t know the circumstances, he might also think these two were deeply in love.

Violet Foote found Oliver Gale’s laughter curious, and asked: "What are you laughing at?"

Oliver Gale winked at her: "Laughing at a certain fool, knowing it’s futile yet persisting. Aren’t they a fool?"

Violet Foote: "???"

She felt even more puzzled.

...

Quiana Sutton had just left Alexander Skylane’s room when she encountered Durrell Landon head-on.

Seeing her emerge from another room, his gaze unconsciously darkened.

"Shouldn’t you be in the bathroom? Why are you coming from that room?"

She casually responded: "Just asking for directions."

Durrell Landon looked at her amused:

"I didn’t know you had a poor sense of direction? And this isn’t your first time at Between Clouds and Waters."

His gaze intensified, "If you want to deceive me, shouldn’t you improve your lying skills?"

Having seen Northmount, her heart was agitated, not willing to engage with Durrell Landon over this matter.

"What exactly do you want to say?"

Through the slightly open door, he clearly saw the people inside, his fingers unconsciously crackled, struggling to utter:

"You and Alexander Skylane really do seem fated."

"We were childhood sweethearts, of course, our bond is deep."

Durrell Landon felt an intense urge to throttle her: "You really know how to anger me."

Quiana Sutton glanced at him indifferently, thinking about his insistence to prolong the divorce for three months, wasn’t he also forcing her? Angering her?

"I’ve already accompanied you to pick up Violet Foote; can I leave now?"

She wasn’t really familiar with Violet Foote, and there wasn’t much to talk about.

Without looking at Durrell Landon’s expression, she turned and left directly.

Underground parking lot.

She had just seated herself in the driver’s seat, before she could fasten the seatbelt, Durrell Landon sat beside her in the passenger seat.

Just as she intended to speak, strong arms encircled her waist; before she realized it, she was pulled into the man’s embrace, unexpectedly sitting on his lap.
