I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 93: Victorious
|3rd POV|
The soldiers out the wall stand there, ready when Gwyn makes a signal for them to move. The people following Gwyn’s order already accept him as their leader when they are fighting side by side on their way here.
They already see how effective he can be on the battlefield, and even some of them get rescued from the brink of death by him.
Some of the captains, who are small noble lords or an heir to a noble house, still think of him as a fraud and are in denial.
That is the reason why Arthur Verqur decided to send Fernando and Ukar and their units to Gwyndolin. They are not looking down on the Southerners and are willing to see if Gwyndolin deserves their respect and loyalty.
When they see Gwyndolin in action, they quickly change their opinion and are now willing to obey his order because they know that Gwyndolin will not lead them astray.
"Prepare! Here they come!"
So when Gwyndolin gives them orders, they quickly obey his word.
"Fernando! Right! Ukar! Left! Take out the bigger one first, and then continue with the smaller one!"
Gwyndolin looks at the monster that gets out of the swamp and runs toward the line of golems for a few seconds, and when they are fighting the golems, he shouts.
"Attack!"
Hearing that, Fernando and Ukar quickly take action. They and their units quickly run toward the enemy, who is busy fighting against the golem. When they arrive, Fernando starts his fight by activating his talent and growing four more arms, complete with the mace in both of his hands.
The same with Ukar. He activates his talent and coats his spear in blue energy. A second later, his spear releases a chilling aura.
When they arrive next to the monster, they start attacking them with all their might.
With the buff Gwyndolin used earlier, only a few monsters managed to get away from the [Infinite Swamp], and it was the bigger monster. Fernando jumps high and swings down his maces, and creates a small shockwave at the impact.
After hitting the monster, Fernando’s men quickly come forward and thrust their weapons to finish the monster by hitting the weak point of the monster, their eyes. In the past month, the people from the north have learned a lot of things from fighting a monster.
If the monster has an eye, there is a high possibility that it is one of their weak spots. If it was not, then the monster has a weak spot in its back or underneath its head, in its neck area.
What happened when that monster did not have an eye? Or it was just a monster with an eye as a body. If the monster does not have an eye, that means it has a heightened sense of smell or hearing. Target their nose or ears.
What if they are a giant floating eyeball? Attack them with a physical attack because usually, anything with only one organ as their whole body is weak against physical attack but has a massive magical defense. The only problem is that they stand on their back and attack humans from a distance.
On the other side of the battlefield, Ukar put a small bit of mana into his talent and thrust his spear. A second later, fan-shaped energy appears in front of him and freezes any monster in a three-meter radius.
After he freezes the monster, his men quickly take action and bring their war hammers to destroy the ice statue in front of them.
The two groups keep their focus on their leader and continue to kill any monster that manages to get away from the [Infinite Swamp]. However, they are so hyper-focused that they do not see a group of smaller monsters that manage to escape the [Infinite Swamp] approaching them.
They notice the incoming new monster when one of the men from Fernando’s unit screams in pain as his arm gets bitten by one of the monsters.
Gwyndolin, focusing on the battlefield, quickly takes action, kills the small monster, and heals the injured person.
"Nerve too focused on one direction! Focus on the people around you!"
Understanding the command, they quickly change their formation. A small group of people turn their eyes on the back for a smaller monster who comes at them while the rest do the killing. While Gwyndolin and his small army defend the northern part of the fortress without a problem, the southern part struggles a little with the monster who slowly fills the [Infinite Swamp] and becomes the bridge for the other monster.
They already immobilize the rest of the soldiers so as not to let the monster get close to the wall. Even Freyja and Jullian’s unit need to slow down and go on the defensive because they are getting tired from the fight without the help of Gwyn’s buff and healing.
"Jullian! Freyja! Get back and rest for ten minutes! We will send another unit to defend your location!"
Alexander shouts at both Freyja and Jullian, who nod their heads before slowly getting inside the wall. When they get inside, Sonia, who is leading a group of healers, is ready to take action. Box after box of potions was brought out from the armory and quickly distributed to others.
Sonia kneels next to Jullian, who is panting on the ground after fighting for more than an hour, giving him the potion. He looks at Sonia and smiles a little.
"Thank you, Sonia." 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
"En. Drink"
After saying that, Sonia quickly goes to the other and helps the one who needs the most healing. Jullian takes the healing potions and sees the wound on his body start to disappear, the wound that he did not know existed until now.
He cannot see any wound when he is fighting, but when he stops, he can finally see how much damage the monster has done to him, even when he uses his talent as a second armor. There are many dents on his armor from the monster’s attack.
He looks to the side and can see Freyja has the same state as him. Her armor is dented from the monster’s attack, and her spear is chipped from constant use against the monster’s thick skin, scale, and fur.
He wants to continue to fight because he can see his young master keep fighting without rest, but he decides to obey Alexander’s order and take some rest before joining back to fight. He will be useless in battle without stamina, and he does not want to die before seeing his dream come true, standing next to Gwyndolin when he becomes the lord of the Cunningham family.
After the ten minutes is up, he and his unit are ready for another fight—the same with Freyja and her unit. After a quick announcement, they join the battlefield once again.
The fight gets even more fierce by the hour, and slowly the sun starts to set from the fight.
Watching from the wall, Alexander notices something happening in the distance. He can see the massive Void Crack closing up and the Nature’s Guardian coming back after killing the last flying monster. With Nature’s Guardian coming back, the rest of the fight gets easier.
After the Southern fight is over, the rest of the army helps Gwyndolin and his group fight the monster coming from the north. Nature’s Guardian helps Ophiuchus fight against the flying monster while Okami and Fenrir run around killing the monster on the ground.
Jullian and Freyja’s unit arrived a few minutes later, helping Ukar and Fernando’s units fight the monster that uses their fellow monster as a stepping stone to get across the [Infinite Swamp].
The fighting continues on for another hour before Gwyndolin, and the rest of the people can see the second Void Crack slowly closing up and stopping the incoming monster wave. After the Void Crack closes up, the fight gets easier as the monster’s number decreases without anything to replace them.
They continue fighting until the sun sets and darkness covers the land. With the last monster dying, Alexander and Arthur raise their hands and shout.
"Victory!"
After hearing the shout of their leader, the rest of the soldiers also shout loudly. Some people hug each other, and some start to kiss each other in celebration!
The day is won, and they are victorious.
While the Northern Army celebrates their victory over the monster, Andreas, who watches over the fight from his safe haven, frowns and deactivates his spying magical item resulting in the bird falling to the ground, dead.
While he does not like the result of the fight, he is glad that his plan managed to kill more than a hundred people. This battle let him learn one thing. He learns that the Northern army is not an invincible army that cannot be defeated. The Northern Army can still be defeated if he has the right plan and preparation.
He gets up from the chair and walks out of his lab.
"They will arrive in two or three weeks at the latest if they decide to heal their soldiers and rest in the fortress."
He nods as plans slowly appear inside his head.
"It looks like I still have work to do."
