I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 66
"[Poison Grass]"
I tap the group and see green grass grow quickly. [Poison Grass] is a low-level spell that lets me create a trap in the form of grass. Whoever steps on it will gradually be poisoned and lose their HP.
It did not do much damage but lasted long and could get many people simultaneously. However, what makes this spell really good is that as long as I keep feeding this spell my mana, the grass will last forever. With my mana generation and reserve, I can feed at least a kilometer square worth of [Poison Grass] for ten years before I feel tired from mana consumption.
However, I decided against that because I needed my mana in the next battle. For now, I place them in the strategic place my father told me. After the scout told us that the enemy retreated deep into their territory, my father decided to fortify the area.
"This should be good. Jullian, how is the other?"
"The other is doing fine, young master. The progress is according to the schedule. We should be ready before the reinforcement comes."
We just got a letter saying that the reinforcement from the east will come tonight, and my father is currently busy making a camp for them. That is why my group is divided into two groups. The first one is gathering wood, scavenging fruit, and hunting animals in the area.
While I take care of the traps and Jullian comes with me as a bodyguard and the one scouting ahead of me.
"That’s good. How many points do we need to go left?"
"There are only two points left, young master. The first is to our west, and the last is deeper into the enemy territory. It is a path between the two cliffs."
"Right, that place."
My family has a history in that place. A history of how seven hundred men managed to hold against a force of ten thousand people for seven days in that place. That place is called the Bloody Gate for its history, but sadly, that place had gone to the enemy’s hand after the previous king decided to sue for peace, even when our family was about to take that place back from the enemy’s hand.
"I think we should go to the south first and take care of the one in the west on the way back."
"Of course, young master."
We run through the thick forest to make sure we stay hidden from enemy scouts. After running for an hour, I stop and raise my hand.
"Young master?"
"Shhh. Can you hear that?"
Jullian expressions turn serious, and he starts to listen to his surroundings.
"Movement. From the left... five? No. More than five."
I nod and take out a scroll from my inventory. After I tear the scroll, the two of us blend in with the background. This scroll contains a spell called [Chameleon’s Skin] that makes us invisible and masks our smell. Sadly, it did not mask the sound, so we need to be careful.
"Come on. Careful."
"Of course, young master."
We follow the sound of movement to our left, and after slowly walking, we arrive at a small clearing. We can see a camp in the middle of it. I can see ten people walking away from the camp while talking.
"Do you think that thing will work?"
"I don’t know but this is an order from the higher-up and we cannot do anything but obey."
"I know that, but... this is not something I want to do. Using monsters as a weapon? We are supposed to be fighting them, not allying ourselves with the monster! Also... there is also the fuel... Dammit!"
"Cut your voice, brat. I don’t like it either, but this is an order. I don’t know where the king got that kind of device to create a Void Crack to summon a group of monsters... But as long as it does its job and ends this war quickly, I’m not complaining. It has been five years since I saw my children and wife."
"But it is not supposed to be like this. I’m in a unit that kills monsters around the kingdom before coming to the frontline, and doing this breaks all the code that I swear to uphold when I join that unit."
"Just do it and shut up, brat! This is war. Everything is fair in war. Swallow your pride and honor; maybe you will survive longer in this war. War is the place where honor dies. I know it because I have been in war almost all my life. Pray that the others die quickly because that is the only thing you can do right now."
"Dammit!"
We wait another ten minutes, and I look at Jullian, who looks like he is ready to charge forward and butcher them all.
"Jullian, do you hear what they are talking about?"
"Yes! They dare to use the monster as a weapon when their kingdom’s motto is. ’United under a single banner to banish the monster’ but here they are using the same enemy they swear to kill as a weapon."
"And we need to stop this plan before it can start. Come on."
Jullian nods, and we quickly get closer to the camp. As we get closer, I smell something foul coming from the camp. We get closer to the biggest tent and open it. I widen my eyes at the sight in front of me.
I can see a pile of corpses surrounding a crystal. There are at least twenty corpses in this tent, most children.
"What kind of sick bastard is willing to do this?!"
Julian roars in anger and looks like he wants to hit something, anything to vent. I am about to stop him, but before I can do that, I see a movement among the pile of corpses. I run quickly, move the other body away and see a child looking at me with hopeful eyes.
"H-Help..."
"Don’t worry. I’m here. I will help you. Hold on, okay?"
I look at Jullian and say.
"Jullian, take the bodies aside; we will give them a proper burial. After that... destroy that thing. That thing should not exist."
"Yes, young master. With pleasure."
After hearing his answer, I took the poor child far away from the tent and put him on the ground. I take out my main weapon, Star Globes, and cast a spell.
"I’m sorry for arriving late,, but let me remove the pain. [Gaia’s Embrace]!"

|Nameless Child POV|
Pain. Pain. Pain. That is all I can feel.
When will this come to an end? What do I do wrong? I’ve been trying to be a good boy. I follow the Goddess’ teaching and try to be good, but why does she not answer my prayers? Are there even gods out there?
If so, please get me out of here.
I blink when I see the light appear after a long time. Has my prayer been answered? Has God finally arrived for me? Please... Please help me. I can see a silhouette of someone looking at me.
"H-Help..."
"Don’t worry. I’m here. I will help you. Hold on, okay?"
Thank you.
I want to say that, but my mouth can no longer move. I can hear him say something to someone, but I ignore it as I feel the warmth coming from his body. How long since I feel this warm?
"I’m sorry for arriving late, but let me remove the pain."
Why? Why are you apologizing? You are my savior. Why? Why are you crying for me? We have never met before.
I don’t understand.
Why? Why does it feel good and warm? What are you? Are you truly human? All the people I met are cold and look at me as worthless, but why do you look at me as the most precious thing?
"[Gaia’s Embrace]"
Ah. I look at him shine, and I can see a massive tree and an endless forest behind him. I can see an endless star like the night sky but even brighter. I can see him standing between the two of them and realize he is not a human. No.
No human is willing to look at me as if I’m the most precious thing. Only God, the most benevolent being who, is willing to look at the worthless me like that.
Ah, my lord. Please... Please... Let me worship you.
