I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 188: Interlude
|Catharina von Xenotra - Heiress of Baron Xenotra|
"What?! Did you say it is Vida Verlagan?"
"Yes, my lady."
I ignore the curious expression my companion looks at me as I just receive valuable information. Vida Verlagan, the runaway princess, and the Brawler Princess. She is an excellent recruit to have because of her talent.
She is among the few recruits who can reach max level stat in certain areas if she uses her talent in a fight or war.
And she is one of my Waifu! Dammit! She supposedly appears in the middle of the first arc!
"Wait. Did you say that she came here with a group of diplomats?"
"Yes, my lady. She is the leader of the diplomats coming to the Luzia Kingdom, and I think they will come to the Gipan Kingdom after they are done with the Luzia Kingdom."
I nod in understanding and lean over the couch. Jonathan looks at me and says.
"Did you know her, Cat?"
"Princess Vida, huh? I see her in my dream. She is a prodigy and someone who is dependable in battle. The good future I saw did not need her to achieve it, but her help will greatly help us get it."
Jonathan nods his head, and he puts his hand on his chin, thinking.
"Should we invite her into our group?"
I want to scream yes, but I stop myself because I know it will make me something undesirable in the eyes of Vida. She is the type of woman who does not like people licking her boots, as she already gets a lot of it in her kingdom.
She wanted to get to know someone independent and strong and did not see her as a princess but as Vida the Brawler. I cannot just appear in front of her as if I know her and ask her to join our group because she will see us as one of the nobles trying to get her hand in marriage.
With this in mind, I shake my head and say.
"No. Not yet, at least. We cannot force her. She is a princess. What happens when a group of people ask her to join their group without getting close to her first?"
Jonathan and Veronica stay silent for a few seconds before Veronica releases a sigh and says.
"She will think of us as either an assassin that tries to kill her or a bunch of nobles that want to lick her boots to curry favor from her."
"Bingo. We cannot do that because instead of getting her favor and letting her join our group, she will look at us in suspicion and make her opinion worse."
Veronica nods and says.
"We are lucky that Heir Gwyndolin is the one taking her in here. We can use this opportunity to get close to her when she visits the capital city."
"What a great idea, Ver!"
I kiss her cheek and see Jonathan click his tongue in annoyance while Veronica has a smug expression on her face. These two...
"Anyway! Anything else we should know?"
I look at the spy, who looks at us in amusement, and see him shaking his head.
"There is nothing more I need to inform you, my lady."
"I see. Then you can return and also remember to tell the others not to get too close to Gwyn and his companion. We did not want him to know that we have a spy watching over him."
"Of course, my lady. I will make sure they know."
"Thank you. Then you are dismissed."
The man nods and leaves the room, leaving the three of us alone. We stay silent for a few seconds before Jonathan suddenly says.
"What will you do when Heir Gwyndolin gets back home? Will we start your plan?"
I think for a few seconds and nod.
"Let’s do that. With his help, we can beat the hidden dungeon in the Eastern part of this kingdom."
All the early dungeons in White Lily are man-made dungeons made by the heroes of the past who fight against the God of Darkness and Destruction. They are leaving a lot of equipment that players can equip or give to the others.
Just like my current wand, [Moonlight Flower] is used by a hero who holds her ground against a massive wave of monsters to protect the only city left in the Southern Continent. This wand let me cut my mana consumption by half and increase my chant speed by eighty percent.
My robe is called [Red Rose], and it increases my mana regeneration, has an auto-clean feature, and has a second shield that protects me from a lethal attack once before it needs to recharge for twenty-four hours.
One of my rings is called [Purple Lavender], and it increases my spell range and increases my control over my mana. What does that mean? That means I can control my mana so it can be even more efficient. If mana reduction decreases the total mana consumption from each spell, mana control makes sure I can control how powerful the attack will be. Someone who cannot control their mana cannot change the output of damage to his enemy.
And yes, all of the equipment is either flower-themed or at least has a plant-themed name on it. Most names are rather basic, like [Red Rose] and [Purple Lavender]. Some of the names are great, but most of the names are not very creative.
I shake my head and look at my companion.
"Let’s ask him if he wants to come with us. There are a few dungeons that can help us get stronger. Other than magic gear, there are a lot of riches we can offer to them."
Yup. Other than weapons and armor, there is a lot of gold in each dungeon. It is a vault of the previous generation’s heroes, after all. We have completed three dungeons, a low-level one, and got a lot of gold from it.
Because of this, I can invest it into something useful for a passive income and store the gold inside a hidden vault that Jonathan built to store the rest of the gold.
"I still want a gun if there is one. The armor and accessories are great and all, but I still want a gun. However, if Heir Gwyndolin is willing to give the last gun he lets me use, I’m willing to give him my share of gold."
And that is a surprise coming from Veronica. Just like Jonathan, she is greedy and likes money. However, if it is a gun, she is willing to give away her share of gold. She loves guns more than gold as she is obsessed with them after she got one from the Eastern Continent.
I then remember an interaction between her and another character who owns a powerful gun. She drools over the gun, and the other person looks at her as if she wants to hurt his baby (the gun). One gun-obsessed meeting another one of its kind can result in two things.
The first one is that they are getting along very well or hate each other because one wants to touch the baby they adore.
This person is that kind of person. He did not like the others to touch his gun, and Veronica wanted to touch many kinds of guns. Those two are pushing each other and will not get along. However, they still become friends because they like guns, but they will not be close enough to let each other touch their babies.
"I will ask Gwyn about it. Maybe he is willing to let you have one of his guns. He said that he has a few of them somewhere."
"Truly?! And he did not let me look at them! Argh! Now I’m even more curious!"
I chuckle a little at her words. Veronica is still butt hurt when Gwyn takes the gun he let her use. She wants to take it back home and polish it all by herself, not in a sexual way, and look at it every day.
"Anyway!"
I look at Jonathan and smile apologetically. He nods and continues.
"Which dungeon should we explore? The previous one is already hard enough, and you said that the previous dungeons are the weaker ones, right?"
"That’s right."
"So, how hard will this next dungeon be?"
"Depend on the dungeon, Jon. I want to visit the one near the border of the Death Zone in the south. It is one of the hardest dungeons, but with Gwyndolin and his companion, I have a feeling we can do it."
By the look of it, Jonathan did not like Gwyn in our group, but he cannot dismiss their power. I put my hand on his cheek and said.
"You know that I did not like him, right? We are just friends. He has the same circumstances as mine, and we are working together to make a brighter future."
Jonathan looks into my eyes and releases a sigh.
"Yeah. You are right. I’m sorry."
"Don’t worry about it, dear. It is a normal reaction."
