Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Gift

"Wait! You know him, Quentyn?!"

The elf, who is just jumping around in happiness, stops whatever he is doing and grabs Quentyn’s hands.

Quentyn can only sigh and say.

"I know them, Ander. Jul-Tan and I join his party to conquer a dungeon."

"Uhh! That is so cool!"

The elf starts to scream and starts to talk about how he wants to conquer a dungeon himself, but he needs to be promoted in rank first. I look at Jul-Tan and say,

"Who is he?"

"Him? He is a new adventurer that Quentyn takes under his wing. I don’t know the reason why he took that kid, but he said something about a limitless potential or something."

"Oh, really?"

Limitless potential, huh? That is a bold word. However, with his talent, I don’t think it is too much of an exaggeration. I look at the elf and smile a little. A limitless individual, huh? A worthy investment.

I take out a bow, a level twenty bow, with max-level enchantment and great elemental effect. This is a bow that I get from a dungeon boss in Second Life. This is a rare bow in the early game.

I look at the elf and say.

"Oi, kid. Catch this."

I throw him the bow and say.

"Take that bow and get stronger. As for the rest of you..."

I take out gloves for Jul-Tan, a longsword for Quentyn, and a magic staff for the woman next to the elf. They are a piece of low-level equipment (level 10 - 15 range) with a max-level enchantment and elemental effect that will help them.

"Take these and grow stronger. We will meet again when you reach a certain rank and maybe go dungeon diving together."

The elf, Ander, looks at me with eyes full of determination and says.

"We will! I promise you that I will get stronger and ask you to join my party!"

"Hah! I will look forward to it."

After saying that, my companion and I left the adventurer guild. While walking, Hilda looks at me and says,

"Why are you giving those weapons to them?"

"Hmmm? They have the potential to grow, and I feel Jul-Tan is right. That elf has limitless potential. As long as he is nurtured carefully and makes sure he does not die, he will grow into a powerhouse that can help us in the future. You can say that it is an investment for our future."

My companion looks at me in confusion, but I only smile because it is what it is.

"Aren’t you afraid that they will use that weapon to attack us?"

"Oh? Tell me honestly. Do you feel that they will betray us?"

Hilda raises her finger and puts it down a second later. She looked at me for a second and released a defeated sigh.

"I can’t because they are too stupid, naive, and honest to do it. Even Quentyn, who is a cautious individual, will not do that. He is too honest and kind, just like you."

"What do you mean? He is not as handsome as me."

"Of course! You are my fiance, after all. You are the most handsome man in the world. You can ask the other."

I smile a little as we joke around while we are returning back to our home.

|3rd POV|

While Gwyn and his companion walk back home, Ander looks at the weapon in his hand and looks at his childhood friend.

"Reni, can you use your talent to look at the weapon for me?"

"Hmmm? Do you think there is poison or something?"

"No! No! No! It was not like that. You know that I have a strong connection to magic, right? I can feel something unique in this weapon."

"I see. I can do that. Let’s get inside first. We start to get unwanted attention."

Quentyn looks to the side and sees a lot of people looking at them. Seeing that Reni is right, Quentyn takes his party members inside the building, where they use the empty room to have a private talk.

When they are alone, Ander puts the bow on the table, where Reni takes a deep breath.

Quentyn looks at Reni and prepares to see her talent. He remembers how Reni’s talent is something that cannot be used in battle and can only be used in the storyline. Her talent is called [Spirit Vision]. In the game lore, it is an ability to get information from the swirl of Akasha, the bank of knowledge. It is a place that stores knowledge from the past, current, and future.

It is a great talent on paper, but in gameplay... it is still useful but not really useful, especially in the late game.

While it is a talent that cannot be used in battle, it can be used to search for treasure when players get into the open world map. Players can spam this talent to see if there is a treasure in the area around them.

A speedrunner has a spreadsheet that shows the chances of treasure appearing in a certain part of the map.

However, the lore of the talent is something that Quentyn wants to see in real life. In the game, when Reni uses her talent, she will start to talk or rather read the information from the Akasha Record.

Quentyn sees Reni’s eyes glow a little and starts to talk.

"Branch from the Tree of Life, delicately shaped into a bow. Whisker from the King of Sea, delicately made into a string. Combine together and turn into a bow. Blessed by the Sun and now carry a fraction of the sun. Given to the ancient Elven King to unite all Elves in the world. This is Phoebus, Bow blessed by the Sun and carrying the wisdom and might of the ancient king."

Reni gasps after saying that word and looks at the bow in surprise. She never thought that this bow would be a national treasure of the elves. While Reni is shocked, Quentyn is trying to remember the bow’s name in front of him.

He never hears the name of the weapon in front of him in the game. By the name of the bow, it was not a common weapon that a normal mob dropped but rather a weapon that a boss monster dropped.

However, he never once heard about this bow.

However, among them, Ander is the one who shocked the most. As an elf, he knows that this bow is the treasure that an Elves Empire or Kingdom will spend billions of gold coins to make sure they have it.

It was a little bit exaggerated, but it is the truth. A king will even sell their daughter to have the bow in front of him, but Gwyn gives it just like that. Ander starts to wonder what he wants from him.

Seeing the expression of Ander, Quentyn shakes his head and says.

"You didn’t need to worry, Ander."

Ander snaps from his thoughts and looks at Quentyn.

"Huh? What?"

"I can see that you are thinking of Gwyn’s motive for giving you that thing. I’m right, right?"

Ander slowly nods, and Quentyn sighs.

"Gwyn is not that kind of person. He will not use you for his selfish reasons. He gives you that bow because he wants to be your friend, and maybe you will help him in the future. Gwyn is the type of man who wants someone with the potential to grow, and by the look of it, he knows that you have that potential, and he wants you to grow."

He said this word because he knows Gwyn’s fate in the game. The first game did not explore his story, but the latter game explored his life deeper because his daughter, Sonia, will be the main character in the fourth game.

In the fourth game, it is known that Ander will be the one training Sonia and taking care of her until she is ready to see the world once again. Gwyn orders Sonia to run away from Cunningham County a day before his death.

She grows into a powerful woman so she can get revenge against the people who killed her family. It is a story about revenge. It is the story of a homunculus who tries to kill the people who killed her family. The fourth game is the highest-selling game in the entire franchise because of its story, gameplay, and bittersweet ending.

Quentyn knows that Gwyn will not harm Ander because he is not cruel. Not yet, at least.

Ander looks at Quentyn for a second and nods his head. He takes the bow and looks at it for a few seconds. Ander smiles a little and nods his head. There is a fire inside his eyes.

"I will take this bow and prove to him that I can reach the highest ranking in the entire continent! I will be the greatest adventurer in the continent and then in the world!"
