I Transmigrated as a Villainess to Raise Babies, and My Beast Husbands Are Fighting Madly Over Me!-Chapter 118: They’re Back
Gu Li sprinted all the way to a dilapidated stone house at the back of the tribe.
Inside the stone house, a tall figure heard the commotion and turned, staring at him with a cold, grim expression.
"Have you made up your mind?"
"I have. You promised me that once this is done, I will become the Clan Leader of the Silver Tribe."
Bai Lei smiled, his face a mask of sincerity. "Of course. In that case... let’s make our move tonight."
"Alright."
Just as Gu Yu was beaten to within an inch of his life, Feili arrived, and Qiu Ling was with him.
Qiu Ling stared at the half-dead Gu Yu and let out a sharp cry.
"Gu Yu! Gu Yu!" Qiu Ling stumbled over to Gu Yu, her face filled with anguish.
She glared furiously at Feili. "Kill the beastmen who hurt Gu Yu! Kill them for me, right now!"
A complicated look flickered in Feili’s eyes. "Qiu Ling, Xixi and the others wouldn’t have attacked Gu Yu without reason."
"I don’t care what their reason was! I want you to kill them right now!"
When Feili still didn’t move, Qiu Ling furiously snatched a rock from the ground and hurled it at him.
Feili frowned and dodged.
Seeing this only made Qiu Ling angrier. She scrambled to her feet and charged at Feili.
Qiu Ling had already taken the initiative to break her mate-bond with Feili. While it wasn’t completely severed, it might as well have been. But because Feili said nothing, the other beastmen didn’t dare to intervene.
Just as Qiu Ling’s fist was about to strike Feili, two small figures darted forward and pushed her away.
"Don’t you hurt our grandfather!"
The two cubs, Qiao Qiao and Qiao Ang, frowned, glaring at Qiu Ling like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
"You two Wandering Beast cubs dare to stand in my way!"
Feili looked at the cubs protecting him, and his eyes instantly welled with tears.
As Qiu Ling lunged at him again, he finally acted, blocking her path.
"Qiu Ling, I have never owed you anything. Back then, it was my older brother who didn’t want to be your beast-husband, so he had me take his place. It wasn’t that I intentionally replaced him—he was the one who refused to be your beast-husband."
Hearing this, the color drained from Qiu Ling’s face. "What did you say?"
Feili clenched his fists, clearly reluctant to speak of the past. "I did like you, but I knew you didn’t like me, so I never dreamed of becoming your beast-husband. Everything... it was all for my older brother."
As if dealt a devastating blow, Qiu Ling collapsed to the ground. "Th-that’s impossible. Impossible! Feiqi loved me most! He couldn’t possibly have refused to be my beast-husband!"
Feili was unwilling to say more. "Take Gu Yu to the Seclusion Cave. Escort Qiu Ling back to her stone house. From now on, she is not to come out unless necessary."
Qiu Ling was incredulous. "Feili, have you gone mad? I am your bonded female! How dare you!"
Qiao Xixi knew the Seclusion Cave was essentially a prison. ’Injured as he is,’ she thought, ’Gu Yu most likely won’t survive in there.’
"No, Feili, you can’t do this to Gu Yu! I’m your bonded female! You have to listen to me!"
Several of the more solidly built females stepped forward and restrained Qiu Ling.
’They really couldn’t understand it. Clan Leader Feili was an excellent beast-husband, so why did Qiu Ling despise him? It seemed something had happened all those years ago that none of them knew about.’
After Gu Yu and Qiu Ling were led away, Feili patted Qiao Qiao and Qiao Ang on their little heads.
"My dear grandsons, thank you."
"Clan Leader, are you alright?" Qiao Xixi asked with concern, noticing his expression was off.
Feili shook his head. He seemed to hesitate for a moment before finally voicing the words he had held in his heart for so long.
"Actually, Feiyan’s mother was in love with my older brother. But my brother has a free-spirited nature; he always said he would leave the tribe sooner or later. The thing is, Qiu Ling’s father once saved my mother’s life. Because of that, my mother promised that whoever Qiu Ling chose could become her beast-husband."
"Qiu Ling chose Feiqi, but Feiqi came to me and begged for my help. I agreed."
"At the time, I was the most likely candidate to become the next Clan Leader. I personally went to Qiu Ling’s mother and made a case for myself, saying I wanted to be Qiu Ling’s beast-husband. Her mother agreed. But Qiu Ling always believed that I did it because I was in love with her, and that my actions drove Feiqi away. For that, she has resented me for many years."
"My older brother helped me so much... I couldn’t bear to see him tied down like that... Sigh. It’s all in the past. The important thing is that you’re all safe. It’s getting late, you should head back now."
Qiao Xixi watched Feili’s lonely figure and shook her head. She turned to the cubs and Jin Ling. "Are you all okay?"
Jin Ling shook his head dismissively. "Just a few scrapes. It’s nothing." The words had barely left his mouth when his expression changed. "Where’s Gu Li?"
Only then did Qiao Xixi realize Gu Li was gone. "He must have run off during the chaos. He’s a liability. We have to find him."
Jin Ling grunted in agreement. After quickly dressing the remaining fish-beasts, he escorted Qiao Xixi and the others back home.
"Lock the courtyard gate and don’t go anywhere. I’m going to tell the Clan Leader to send out a search party for Gu Li."
Qiao Xixi nodded. ’It’s best to deal with this threat as soon as possible.’
"Okay."
Meanwhile, on a mountainside not far from the tribe, the Hunting Team, led by Feiyan, was hurrying toward the village.
According to their original plan, they weren’t due back for several more days. But both Feiyan and Sunxiao felt a strange sense of panic, so they had started back as soon as they’d hunted nearly enough prey.
They only had to cross this last stretch of the mountain to reach the tribe.
Feiyan, carrying his share of the hunt, walked at the head of the group. Sunxiao, also laden with prey, brought up the rear.
As they walked through the mountain forest, Sunxiao clearly sensed that something was wrong. His crimson, snake-like pupils scanned the dim surroundings. He remembered that when they had left, this area had been teeming with Mutant Beasts.
Tonight, with all the prey they carried, the scent of blood should have been enough to drive the Mutant Beasts into a frenzy. Even if the beasts were wary of the powerful beastmen and didn’t dare approach, there should have at least been an air of agitation.
But now... he couldn’t sense the presence of a single Mutant Beast. It was too strange.
"Feiyan, speed up."
Feiyan had also sensed that something was off and quickened his pace.
Outside the main gate of the Silver Tribe, the beastmen on guard duty quickly detected an unusual presence nearby.
"I sense Mutant Beasts. A few of you, come with me to check it out. You—go back and inform the Clan Leader."
The beastman sent to deliver the message had just run into the tribe when he saw Gu Li emerge from the shadows.
"Gu Li? What are you doing here?"
Gu Li’s expression didn’t change. "What’s wrong? Did something happen?"
"We sensed Mutant Beasts. I was just going to report to the Clan Leader."
"I’ll go with you."
The beastman didn’t think twice and turned to leave.
Gu Li followed leisurely behind him. As their two figures disappeared into the trees, Gu Li suddenly drew a bone knife and slit the beastman’s throat.
Gu Li stared at the blood on his bone knife and broke into a vicious grin.
"If you won’t let me live in peace, then you can all just die!"
As Gu Li turned to leave, his eyes suddenly met a pair of gilded, golden ones.
