I Start with a Mysterious Island-Chapter 89: Onlookers: The Bigger the Drama, the Better
STEP.
Lin Li took a step forward. Seeing him move, the crew-cut man and his lackey were so frightened they immediately scrambled back several steps.
However, they didn’t turn and run. They knew it was impossible for them to escape from an Exotic Beast Hunter who was, at the very least, at the Tier One Peak.
"Sir, we’re sorry! We were wrong, please let us go! Here’s your stuff back." The panicked crew-cut man placed the stolen Spiritual Longsword and backpack on the ground as he apologized to Lin Li.
Seeing his boss cave, the terrified skinny guy immediately followed suit. He tossed the fruit knife in his hand into the roadside bushes and admitted his mistake with a sincere tone.
"Boss, I’m sorry! I was just kidding just now. I didn’t actually mean to fight you."
’These guys are way too cowardly...’ Lin Li, who had been ready to make his move, felt a pang of disappointment at the thieves’ reaction.
Since they had already given up, Lin Li didn’t feel right about attacking them. So, he took out his phone and dialed the number for the Public Security Bureau.
But just as the call was connecting, he hung up.
After ending the call to the Public Security Bureau, he dialed the number for the Superpower Administration Bureau instead. Lin Li remembered that the crew-cut man was a Cultivator, and crimes committed by people like him fell under the jurisdiction of the Superpower Administration Bureau.
When the crew-cut man and his lackey saw Lin Li on the phone, they guessed he was reporting them and immediately started begging for mercy.
"Sir, please spare us this time! We know we were wrong. We’ll never do it again."
"Boss, don’t call the cops! We know we were wrong, just give us a chance to turn over a new leaf!"
Lin Li looked at the two thieves, their faces etched with remorse, and said blankly,
"You’re both adults. Before you do something like this, you should think about the price you’ll pay if you get caught."
Hearing Lin Li’s words, the crew-cut man and his lackey fell silent.
They knew that once law enforcement arrived, they would be arrested and thrown in jail.
The two thieves, not wanting to go to jail, exchanged a look. Just as they were about to turn and bolt in separate directions, they froze stiff.
WHOOSH.
Lin Li raised his free right hand. A small Fireball the size of a pigeon’s egg appeared at his fingertip, and in the blink of an eye, it swelled into a large Fireball twenty centimeters in diameter.
"You’d better give up any ideas of running, or else... Of course, if you’re confident you can dodge my Fireball Attack, then by all means, run."

The crew-cut man and his lackey stared blankly at the large, blazing Fireball hovering above Lin Li’s fingertip. They swallowed hard in unison, and any thought of escape vanished in an instant.
Not far away, the customers at the hot pot stall where Lin Li had been eating also noticed the commotion.
At first, these customers just thought Lin Li had gotten into an argument with the other two men and that it would end after a bit of shouting, so they weren’t too curious.
But when they saw a blazing Fireball suddenly appear in Lin Li’s hand, the curiosity of these rubbernecking hot pot eaters was instantly piqued.
’A Cultivator with an awakened Superpower is about to blast someone with a Fireball? That’s a rare sight! I’ve gotta record this...’ This thought flashed through the minds of the onlookers who witnessed the scene.
And so, many people pulled out their phones and started filming the three men from a distance. The main focus of their recordings was the Cultivator holding the large, blazing Fireball.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is the Rongcheng Superpower Administration Bureau."
"There’s a Cultivator here who was trying to steal from my car. I have him under control now. Can you send someone over?"
"Understood. Please state your current location."
"My current location is..."
Lin Li gave his current address to the operator on the phone. After reporting the crime, he put his phone away. At that moment, he heard the noisy chatter from behind him.
He glanced back over his shoulder, and his heart skipped a beat. He saw many customers from the hot pot stall filming him with their phones.
’Damn it, I forgot there were so many people eating hot pot nearby...’ Lin Li quickly turned back around and extinguished the Fireball hovering at his fingertip.
When the onlookers saw the Cultivator extinguish the Fireball, they figured he wasn’t going to attack anyone with it. They breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a twinge of disappointment. After all, a crowd always loves a good show.
Still, the onlookers didn’t dare to get any closer. They just stood where they were, filming from a distance.
After all, one of the men was a Cultivator who could use a Superpower like a Fireball. Getting too close and getting caught in the crossfire would be a disaster.
Indistinct chatter drifted over from the distance. Although Lin Li desperately wanted to get in his car and leave, he had already called the authorities, so it wouldn’t be right to just take off.
Under the unblinking stares and whispered gossip of the onlookers, Lin Li felt like he was sitting on pins and needles. The two dejected thieves, however, didn’t seem to feel much of anything.
Fortunately, the Investigators from the Superpower Administration Bureau didn’t keep Lin Li waiting long. About three or four minutes later, a police car from the Bureau arrived on the scene.
A male and a female Investigator got out of the car. Neither looked very old, perhaps around twenty-six or twenty-seven. The man had a square-jawed face, a burly build, and stood about six-foot-one. The woman had an oval face, a slender figure, and was about five-foot-eight.
When the two thieves who had stolen Lin Li’s things saw the Investigators arrive, the despair on their faces deepened.
"Sir, are you the one who called it in?" the burly Investigator asked, glancing at the two listless thieves before addressing the composed Lin Li.
"I am. I had just finished dinner by the roadside and was about to drive home when I saw these two acting suspiciously in front of my car..."
Lin Li briefly described how he had caught the two thieves trying to steal from his car.
"I mean, you’ve already become a Cultivator and even awakened a Superpower. Why would you resort to this kind of illegal activity? I really don’t get what you were thinking."
After listening to Lin Li’s account, the slender female Investigator looked at the crew-cut man and spoke, her tone full of confusion. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
