I Rule Fortune-Telling Livestreams-Chapter 92: You Are Goddess Lilia
Zhang Qiang looked up and noticed that every corner of the room was covered in cobwebs.
The tables, bed, and floor—places that should be frequently used—were also covered in a thick layer of dust.
It didn’t look like anyone living had been here at all.
[My god! This is too scary! Is this what people are like? If I can’t leave, no one else can either!]
[Oh my god, after today’s ritual, you guys will be marked too and trapped here for life!]
[Holy shit, she’s totally trying to drag you down with her! Run! The three of you, run! Run faster!]
Shen Zhiyao said, "They can’t run. There are monsters in Mute Village now. If they go outside, the only outcome is death."
As soon as Shen Zhiyao said this, the three of them tensed up, their gazes on Li Qiong growing even more vigilant.
Seeing the three of them stop in their tracks, Li Qiong hurriedly explained, "You’ll die if you go out now!"
Her answer was identical to the streamer’s—going out now was a dead end.
The fog outside was growing thicker, hiding hundreds, even thousands, of monsters about which they knew nothing.
Whether they stayed here or charged out, it was no different from suicide.
They really shouldn’t have listened to the female ghost and come in here looking for answers, nor should they have believed the streamer’s claim that "Mute Village isn’t as scary as the rumors say."
Now, they were completely trapped!
The girl asked, "Then how can we get out?"
"Wait for the ritual to end!"
"The ritual?" The girl stared out the window, as if deep in thought. "This village’s ritual should be similar to my village’s, but I’m a little curious, who are they worshipping?"
Li Qiong lowered her head and said, "They’re worshipping Goddess Lilia... The offering for the ritual is the tongues of living people. If you don’t believe me, listen!"
Li Qiong pushed the wooden door open a crack. The fog outside was thick, and the faint sound of a baby crying could be heard.
The terrified girl clamped a hand over her mouth.
This was the first time she had ever heard of such a cruel ritual!
Li Qiong continued, "There’s always been a rumor in this village—people with tongues don’t live long here. So every year, the villagers bring out the newborns and cut out their tongues..."
The girl’s face was deathly pale. She collapsed onto the ground and asked, "What about the tongues they cut out?"
"They’re thrown to the ghosts in the fog!"
[AHHHH! Holy shit, ghosts are real! No wonder everyone in the village plants pagoda trees, it’s to attract ghosts!]
[Forget about whether there are ghosts or not, this fog alone is creepy enough!]
[Same here, I’ve never seen fog this thick. It’s so scary! Is this part of the streamer’s show? Are they trying to scare me to death in the middle of the night?]
[Waaaah... Another sleepless night tonight.]
Shen Zhiyao said, "Use this chance to get Li Qiong out of the way and leave immediately. It’s not safe here anymore!"
At these words, the girl chugged the water in her cup. "Um... could you get me another glass of water? I’m all out."
"Sure!"
Li Qiong forced a smile and turned toward the faucet.
Seizing the opportunity, the three of them bolted out of the earthen house.
The girl stumbled through the dead-silent fog, her steps uneven, unable to see a thing.
A few minutes later, she suddenly heard the sound of a bell.
"What’s that sound?" The girl glanced back at the two men. "Did you guys hear anything?"
"Heard it, but can’t tell where it’s coming from."
The girl’s eyes darted to the side, and a chill shot through her. "You two, don’t turn around. Keep walking forward. Whatever you do, don’t look back!"
Zhang Ruo asked, "What’s wrong? What’s back there that we can’t look at?"
Despite the girl’s warning, Zhang Ruo subconsciously looked back.
On the pagoda tree behind him, two bodies were hanging—the sight made him freeze, a cold dread washing over him.
"AHHHHHHHHH!"
"Don’t look! Get over here! Don’t look! Don’t turn around! Zhang Qiang, you don’t turn around either!" the girl urged nervously.
The two bodies were suspended from the tree, mouths agape, their tongues a purplish-red.
They were on their tiptoes, the tips of their feet scraping against the stools below...
Zhang Ruo’s face was ashen, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
He glanced back at the bodies, his voice trembling. "That rustling sound I heard... it was their feet scraping against the stools..."
Zhang Qiang shot Zhang Ruo a look and scolded him, "Are you an idiot?! I told you not to look back, but you just had to! And now you’re screaming here? Are you crazy?!"
Zhang Ruo immediately argued back, "How was I supposed to know there was something like that in the tree? If I’d known, would I have looked back?"
"That just proves you’re stupid! Only an idiot would insist on looking back when someone gives them a warning!"
"You’re the fucking crazy one! You’re hugging that camera like a dumbass, and you have the nerve to call me out?! Take a look at your own stupid self!"
Seeing the two of them arguing nonstop, the girl cut in sharply. "Alright, both of you, quiet down! Are you done yet or not?! If you keep arguing, you’re really going to summon a ghost! Go or don’t go, I don’t care! I’m going to the back of the church now to figure out who that female ghost is and where she came from! If you don’t want to be here, then get the hell out, okay?"
With that, she turned and walked away.
She hadn’t taken more than a few steps when a hand landed on her shoulder from behind.
"Fuck! Are you two done?! I told you to stay away from me!"
She spun around angrily. Standing right behind her was a woman whose face, mouth, and tongue were all covered in blood.
The corners of the woman’s mouth were stretched to her ears, revealing a mouthful of bloody fangs. She roared repeatedly, "Tongues... I want tongues... want tongues..."
"AHHHHHH!"
The terrified girl stumbled back, turned, and ran, with Zhang Qiang and Zhang Ruo close behind her.
"AHHHH! It’s all your fault! Why did you have to argue?! See, you summoned the ghost!" the girl complained as she ran.
Even in this situation, the stubborn Zhang Ruo talked back, "You didn’t explain it clearly earlier, how can you blame us?! This is all your fault! You should have said so sooner!"
The girl cursed furiously, "You’re full of shit!"
The three of them running and cursing, looking both pathetic and comical, sent the viewers in the livestream chat into fits of laughter:
[Hahahaha, I admit you guys have it rough, but I still think it’s hilarious! Hahahahaha...]
[Is this ghost real? It looks so terrifying. Everything I’ve seen tonight feels like a dream!]
[The three of them are definitely thinking, ’Run, legs, run!’]
[Of course they are! Who wouldn’t run for their life after seeing that?! This is fucking terrifying!]
While the viewers were laughing, Shen Zhiyao’s expression remained grave. "Stop running. You won’t reach your destination. There’s a river up ahead. If you keep running, all three of you will drown!"
The three of them slammed on the brakes. Zhang Ruo didn’t stop in time and nearly plunged headfirst into the river.
The girl turned her head and found herself face-to-face with the long-tongued ghost behind her.
Instantly, she felt something blocking her throat. She tried to scream but couldn’t make a sound.
The woman’s tongue licked her face repeatedly, and the girl swallowed nervously.
Just when she thought she was dead for sure, Shen Zhiyao suddenly spoke up: "Goddess Lilia, whatever grievances you have, you can tell us. Please don’t cry, okay? You’re very beautiful, Lilia."
"I... I died such a wrongful... and miserable death..."
As soon as these words were spoken, the ghost’s eyes instantly brightened. Then, two streams of bloody tears rolled down from her eyes. Her mouth hung wide open, and a red glow shone from within her throat.
As if silently telling the story of her past...
