I Returned to the Day He Brought His First Love Home-Chapter 79: First Visit to the Department of Commerce
"Don’t you dare refuse me, or I’ll show up at your factory gate and wait for you every single day. Good grief, are you trying to scare Mom, Dad, and me to death? You’re far too reckless!" Seeing the look on Grace Winslow’s face, Nolan Winslow knew she was about to turn him down.
He exasperatedly reached out and poked her on the forehead, his tone incredibly firm.
Grace Winslow sighed helplessly. "Alright, alright. What can I say? You’re my big brother. You call the shots." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"But, brother, there are just some things a person has to do. Was I supposed to see a human trafficker and just ignore him? Just stand by and watch him abduct so many people and tear countless families apart?"
Nolan Winslow fell silent. After a long moment, he sighed. "You have a point. But no matter what you do, you have to protect yourself first. Your life is the most important thing. You still have us, you have Mom and Dad. You can’t be so willful."
"What if something had happened?"
"You were fine this time, but if something had gone wrong, how would Mom and Dad go on?"
This time, Grace Winslow felt a wave of lingering fear.
She hadn’t expected Gordon Lynch to be so crazy as to come directly to the factory to cause trouble for her.
Thankfully, she had been quick-witted and managed to escape. But even now, just thinking about the situation made her afraid.
"I know. I promise I won’t do anything so risky again."
But what Grace Winslow was really thinking was, ’I need to find a chance to learn some self-defense.’
There were still plenty of human traffickers in this day and age. Who knew when she might run into one again.
It’s better to rely on yourself than on anyone else.
If she knew some kung fu, she wouldn’t have been so helpless, having to wait for someone to save her.
After Nolan Winslow, Brandon Winslow, Lily Callahan, Hayley, Irene Lynch, and Gregory Winslow all came to visit.
One by one, they lectured Grace Winslow. Irene Lynch cried until her eyes were swollen.
Grace Winslow felt a pang of guilt.
She had really worried her family this time.
Her injuries weren’t serious—just superficial wounds that had been treated. Because she still had to go to the Ministry of Commerce to meet the foreign investor, she begged Irene Lynch to handle her discharge from the hospital.
Nolan Winslow personally accompanied her to the Ministry of Commerce.
Oscar Osborne was already waiting there.
When he saw Grace Winslow, Oscar Osborne hurried over to look her up and down. His heart leaped into his throat when he saw the scrapes on her arms and knees. "I heard you were in trouble the moment I got back to the factory. It’s time we properly managed security. How could they let such a dangerous person inside?"
"Thank goodness you’re okay. Otherwise, how would I ever explain this to your father?"
"Mr. Osborne, I’m fine. Please don’t be so worried. You can’t blame security for this. Gordon Lynch is good at deception; he fooled a lot of people," Grace Winslow said, quickly cutting Oscar Osborne off.
’If he keeps going like this, it’ll never end.’
She really didn’t want another lecture from Oscar Osborne.
"Mr. Osborne, let’s go in. Business first. Have you brought all the design drawings?" she asked, quickly changing the subject.
Oscar Osborne glanced at her injuries and forced himself not to press the issue. "I have them all. Let’s go. After we’re done with this, I’ll give you a few days off. You can go home, get some proper rest, and heal up."
Grace Winslow didn’t refuse.
She herself didn’t mind, but her family was genuinely worried.
By the time the two of them arrived at Ethan Grant’s office, the client was already there.
Oscar Osborne knocked on the door before leading Grace Winslow inside.
The two people, who had been chatting amicably in the office, both looked up at the same time. They were both a little surprised when they saw Grace Winslow.
