I reincarnated as an elf .......and married the yandere villainess.-Chapter 74:With her
She passed him his bow and arrows. Atheline took it to his suprise evident. He had really missed his weapon.
She took a step back, creating space between them. With a smirk, she spoke.
"Attack me."
Atheline didn’t hesitate.
He nocked his arrow, as the wind started to gather around him. The familiar feeling of it brushing against his skin moving with his will without him trying to force it came naturally.
He exhaled softly then...
THWIP!
The arrow vanished.
A distant piece of wall cracked through as the arrow struck and broke off part of the mountainside, the impact echoes through the nearly empty training hall.
"Too slow."
Her voice almost amused slid out of the empty air while a whisper pressed against his ear.
Atheline didn’t turn.
He wasn’t surprised since he was sure brushing against a piece of her coat would not be easy.
His goal wasn’t to hit her, he wasn’t there yet. He just wanted to touch a piece of her clothing.
Another arrow was already nocked.
"I think I touched a small shadow."
Her laughter echoed in the chamber, almost mocking. The shadows moved at the moment. They peeled off the ground walls, as they climbed pillars around him until they were gathered behind him.
Atheline watched all this in fascination, but he was still alert.
Her silhouette rose like a nightcrawler as it slowly morphed into her body. She didn’t come near him but stayed just out of sight.
"You hit my shadows," she playfully said," not me."
Atheline felt every freeze.
He turned around mid-speech.
Three arrows flew out in a single breath, each guided by the wind. They split up mid-flight each twisting to a different direction from the original.
One burnt with barely flickering fire, another had strings of lightning running over it, and the last carried water that converted into ice faster than he had planned.
They tore through the shadows she stood, each of them going to a different part of the training hall where a shadow, whether natural or unnatural was.
They passed through the shadows, two of the arrows managing to achieve this feat. The shadow receded but she was nowhere in sight.
"Again. "
Her voice came from above.
Atheline was already ready to shoot up but it was too late.
Dark tendrils fell from the ceiling like chains snapping around his wrist and ankles, yanking him forcefully out of balance.
Atheline wasn’t one to be outdone by a small mishap.
He twisted mid-turn, wind exploding outwards and cutting through the shadows disconnecting himself.
In his haste, he couldn’t catch himself from the previous momentum.
He landed painfully, his back skidding against the already cracked floor but he was already pulling his failed shot.
This one carried a much heavier element, earth.
He shot up from the ground and shot it downwards instead of firing blindly into the spreading shadows.
He couldn’t clearly pinpoint where she was.
The earth answered his summons.
Stones shot out from the ground, forcing a bit of space between him and the enclosing darkness.
This was the only thing he could think of in his desperation as he hurriedly tried to think about his next plan.
It didn’t work as he had expected.
Something slipped through the cracks without his notice. The shadow rose quietly from behind him and Atheline didn’t hear or feel a thing. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Warm arms wrapped around his shoulders and a soft body pressed against his back. He could feel her hot breath on his neck despite the chill from her power.
"Better," she said pressing on his ear, "you’re thinking now."
Atheline stilled at her voice. He smiled almost to himself.
"You’re holding back," he said quietly.
A laugh escaped her. Her hand held the back of his neck before he felt a small peck on his neck then her warmth vanished.
"Of course I’m holding back."
The shadows around the room moved then she appeared in front of him standing on top of one of his shooting rocking looking down at him.
The afternoon sun had already moved but the light still did her justice.
’How does she use her powers in so many ways?’
She squatted down her chin resting on her arm and smiled even wider.
"If I don’t hold back," she repeated, "you’ll die before you learn anything. "
’Tsk’
He clicked his tongue while drawing another arrow. Wind gathered around him, stronger than any he had ever wielded.
’Thank god for the power boost’
He aimed the arrow towards her. She hadn’t moved an inch through his whole restocking.
"Stop playing with me then"
A shadow swept inward as it wrapped around him around him. It felt as though the wind had been forcefully stopped or even just cut off as it encompassed him.
"That," she said softly, " is really what you are asking for."
Atheline’s face lost all expression. His grip on his arrow tightened.
’Good, this is better’
[Aether stabilisation]
He drew the bowstring slowly up to his ear. His core converted Aether faster as the raw Aether around him moved towards him.
The expected pain had all but reduced unlike the first time. He guided it slowly. His elements layered themselves, weaving around the one arrow.
Wind wrapped around the core of the arrow, fire flickered at the tip as it moved with the wind, lightening threaded through the whole arrow adding pressure on that one arrow.
It was clear that too much power was being channeled into the arrow, on purpose.
"Try to catch me," she whispered.
Atheline didn’t have time to even follow her movements. She vanished into the shadows.
He wasn’t even sure if she was teleporting or blending into the shadows themselves.
His eyes narrowed.
Wind expanded outwards softly almost invisible. It moved through the air as though it was part of the existing air feeling everything in the grounds.
It moved through the shadows brushing against every crack and surface searching for her.
He knew she was there, he could feel her gaze but it felt as though it was coming from around him not one specific place.
His winds moved until they brushed against something.
There.
