Chapter 72: Valexeria’s Sister?

"You’re denying the order of the emperor, how foolish can you even be?"

"The emperor gave you and your family another chance, but you and your dumb sister Valexeria made it so difficult for us." He said.

A thought curled inside Leon’s head.

’Valexeria? Sister? What the hell is going on here?’

Before Leon could keep listening, a frog suddenly jumped into the water.

His head turned in that direction as he muttered, "I’m done for... did that frog really have to jump in right now?"

A small sigh escaped through his mouth as his face got covered in sweat.

"Who’s there?" The man said, unsheathing his sword.

Without wasting any time, Leon summoned his shadow sword.

He took his stance, prepared to tackle him if something went wrong.

"Victor..." A girl’s voice fell inside Leon’s ears.

’That person is a girl...’

Victor stopped, turned around as he said. "What’s it?"

"There wasn’t anyone, just a frog which jumped into the water." She said.

He sheathed his sword, looked at her. "Rethink your decision, Valleria," He said.

She didn’t say anything, her gaze turned towards the ground.

Before they could converse any further, a man’s voice came. "There’s a rat among us." He said.

A brown-haired man stood there, a cap pulled low over his head, a sword in hand, dressed in a strangely colourless black suit.

Victor didn’t waste a single second, got on his knee as he kneeled. "Mission Commander Jeffrey," He said.

Jeffrey didn’t say anything, just casually kept a step forward as his aura escaped through his body, covering the entire chamber.

Leon’s body was marked with the aura, and a strange orange-coloured mark appeared on his chest.

His eyes widened, and right after that, a sudden surge of pressure fell on him.

His teeth gritted, sweat appeared on his forehead, and he clutched his heart.

"Whoever is standing there, get out from there." The man said.

Leon didn’t move even an inch, grip tightened on the hilt. ’Does he think I’m a fool? Why will I blow my cover? I’ll wait for him to come here and get him.’

But before Leon could finish thinking, Jeffrey was already in front of his vision.

Jeffrey swung his sword in a clean arc, aimed towards Leon’s neck.

Leon’s eyes widened, but he leaped backwards. Dodging the blade barely, but still, his shirt got brushed by it.

A smirk curled up on Jeffrey’s face, expressions turned wild as he swung once again. "You little rat, you’re not an ordinary one, eh?" He said.

’Rat? Another psycho... yeah, my luck is just so bad that I keep encountering these kinds of men.’

Leon finally got a hold of his momentum and dashed forward towards Jeffrey.

Jeffrey’s smirk widened as a maniacal laugh burst from his lips, his sword swinging down towards Leon, killing intent was buried in it.

Before the blade could even graze Leon, Jeffrey’s hand froze mid-swing, halted as if time itself had seized it.

Leon swung his blade, the arc was clean as it slashed the chest of Jeffrey in a clean cut.

"What the hell did you do, bastard rat?" Jeffrey shouted.

"What did I do?"

"Are you perhaps blind? Because your hand is clearly being held back by a bunch of shadows." Leon said and walked towards him.

"Dodge, and don’t think about anything else," Draviel said.

Leon’s eyes widened for a split second, but his body reacted on instinct.

He leaped backward just as a clean arc of the blade sliced through the space he had occupied a heartbeat earlier.

"Oh, you dodged that? So interesting, so amazing." Jeffrey said, licking the edge of his sword’s blade.

The shadows which were binding Jeffrey in one place broke; it felt as if he had got himself in that situation by his own choice. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Leon landed on his two feet, his gaze shifted back at Jeffrey. ’Thanks for the help, Draviel.’

’Materialize yourself, and hold Victor... don’t let him join the battle between this psychopath.’

Draviel didn’t argue; a portal appeared beside Leon as multiple dark purple waves erupted through it.

Draviel walked out through the portal.

Jeffrey’s eyes remained focused on Leon, but the moment he saw Draviel, his eyebrow twitched. "What’s that? Another toy of yours, little rat?" He said.

Leon didn’t reply to him, just simply signalled Draviel to go past him.

Draviel casually walked past Jeffrey, a devilish aura spilling from his body. It was pitch-black, seething like the flames of hell itself.

The pressure was far more than Jeffrey could endure. His breath hitched, his knees tightened, and drool spilled from his mouth as he began to choke under its crushing weight.

"You don’t have to hurt my prey, Draviel," Leon said.

A faint smirk tucked on Draviel’s lips. "I had thought to lend you a measure of my strength," he said calmly, his voice remaining composed.

"I did not expect that a young man like you would have grown so resolute as to refuse even that. It seems my concern was... unnecessary."

Leon shook his head lightly. "Don’t disturb the battles of mine, I’ll handle them in my own way." He said, gaze shifted back at Jeffrey.

Draviel had already reduced the pressure which he was letting out.

Jeffrey finally got a hold of himself, breath still ragged, but he clutched his neck and regained his composure.

"W-What the hell did you do, little rat?" He said, the smirk on his face didn’t waver for even a single second.

Leon ignored him for a while, but finally said. "You don’t have to know about that. Focus on me. Who’s your opponent?"

"A little rat like you doesn’t deserve to be an opponent of mine; you’re nothing more than prey for me," Jeffrey said as he dashed towards Leon.
