I Pick up a Lost Godhood-Chapter 78 - 76: Exhibition Preparations
"Little Stutterer, don’t you think Brother Wang is just so charming?" Ma Tian’Er asked.
Little Stutterer nodded. "Very handsome!"
Luu Mei rolled her eyes. ’Two fangirls with no taste!’
In her heart, there was already the figure of a certain person. He was so handsome, so dashing, and made her feel so secure.
If one had a Mind Reading Skill, they would discover that the figure in Liuu Mei’s heart was a bit chubby...
Everyone was busy, and Wang Meng couldn’t just sit back and watch. He wasn’t ready to start Refining Five Elements Pills yet, so it was a good time to practice with other things.
Some of the Evil Cultivator Pills weren’t very useful, but there were some Ancient Formulas, especially some Mutated Pill Formulas from the Upper Immortal Cultivation World, that were worth a try.
He suddenly thought of Little Stutterer’s stuttering, and Wang Meng gave a knowing smile. ’It’s really just a minor problem.’
Zhou Feng had truly piqued Wang Meng’s interest in Alchemy. Just when everything was ready, Wang Meng discovered... he didn’t have a Pill Furnace...
Meanwhile, Hu Jing and the others were waiting anxiously for the results. Thunderlight Pavilion was accepting registrations from disciples... but the place was utterly deserted.
"Are you serious? This is so demoralizing," Zhang Xiaojiang felt the urge to cry but had no tears. They had prepared so much. Regardless of success or failure, they were doing their best—not for themselves, but for all of Thunderlight Hall. And yet...
"Don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time." Ma Tian’Er remained optimistic, her optimism seemingly immune to any setback.
Zhou Qian shrugged helplessly. "I told you so. This is a thankless job. I think we’d be better off just splitting up and fending for ourselves."
"Brother Zhou!" Hu Jing cried out.
Zhou Qian quickly raised his hands in surrender. "I’m just venting."
He had been in Thunderlight Hall long enough; he understood its situation better than these "youngsters."
Perhaps out of fear of being associated with them, not a single person even came to Thunderlight Pavilion to buy things.
"I can’t take this anymore! Let’s just disband!" Zhang Xiaopang fumed.
"Don’t be hasty, let’s just wait a little longer," Ma Tian’Er quickly urged. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. "Look, isn’t that someone coming over now?"
It was Liuu Mei and a few of her fellow female Talisman Cultivators. "We’re here to sign up!"
Luu Mei’s gaze toward Zhang Xiaojiang was a little... shy.
Zhang Xiaojiang shot to his feet. "Welcome, welcome! You senior sisters are Fairies who embody beauty, wisdom, and courage!"
"We’re members of Thunderlight Hall too. If we look down on ourselves, what’s the point of even living!"
Luu Mei said. Across from her, Zhang Xiaopang immediately gave her a thumbs-up.
"Um, can I sign up? I can’t do Alchemy or make Talismans, but I like making Magic Puppets. My Magic Puppets are really bad, though. Is that okay?"
A Talisman Cultivator disciple came over hesitantly, holding out a small Wood Puppet, looking very nervous.
"Of course you can! The Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting is a chance for everyone to show what they can do. Magic Puppets are very rare!"
Hu Jing said.
"Really? I really can???" The Talisman Cultivator disciple was in disbelief that he could actually participate in the Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting.
"Yes, really! As real as it gets!"
"Yay!" Then the guy bounced away, skipping and jumping as he hugged his Wood Puppet.
And then, suddenly, a crowd began to form. It was as if they had all been hiding somewhere. The truth was, every Cultivator had a desire to show off their skills. But after arriving, they saw everyone else hiding and waiting for someone to take the lead. Once Liuu Mei and her group appeared, acting as the trailblazers, everyone else found their courage.
"I want to join too! I think my Talismans are pretty unique!"
"Old Feng, you call that unique? It’s just deformed!"
"What’s wrong with deformed? Deformed is still a unique feature! Didn’t they say anyone can participate in the Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting?"
"This senior brother is right! Anyone can participate in the Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting, so what are we afraid of?"
"Right! Junior Sister Hu, you all are much braver than the rest of us. Even if Thunderlight Hall disbands, you won’t have trouble finding a new place. It’s us who will suffer. But at this critical moment, you’re working hard to protect Thunderlight Hall, while we’re cowering here, afraid of this and that. I, Old Feng, am a veteran of Thunderlight Hall. Let me just say this: others may look down on me for being a Thunderlight Hall disciple, but I am proud to be one!"
"Old Feng is right! If we want others to respect us, to treat us like human beings, we have to treat ourselves like human beings first! We’re no different from anyone else!"
"Yeah, Junior Sister Hu, whatever ideas you have, just say the word. As long as it’s something we can do, we won’t back down. I’d even do a striptease if you asked!"
"Oh, please! With that scrawny body of yours? I’ve got a better figure, I’ll do it!"
The hall immediately erupted in laughter, washing away the awkwardness and their previous cowardice. No one is born a coward.
Watching from the back of the crowd, Wang Meng gave a knowing smile, feeling a sense of empathy. ’So this is probably what it feels like to be a Saint Cultivator. It’s something I never experienced among the Evil Cultivators.’
With this scene unfolding, Hu Jing and the others felt much more confident. There was strength in numbers. This time, they were going to put on a unique, Thunderlight-style Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting!
Thunderlight Pavilion was bustling, so Wang Meng decided not to join the crowd. He went to the Pill Furnace Pavilion, where the senior brother at the door greeted him enthusiastically.
"Senior Brother Wang, what can I do for you?"
"You know me, Senior Brother?"
"You must be joking, Senior Brother Wang. The five of you became heroes in everyone’s eyes after you defeated Hengshan Hall. I’m going to participate in the Hundred Treasures Hall Meeting this time, too. My Alchemy skills are average, but I’ll try my best to perform at my highest level and do my part for Thunderlight Hall!"
Chen Haiguan patted his chest, acting especially enthusiastic toward Wang Meng. Wang Meng and the others had awakened the dignity and courage of the Thunderlight Hall disciples. They had decided to face the other Sub-Halls head-on. Even if Thunderlight Hall were to disband one day, at least they would have tried.
If they continued to act like cowards now, they would be cowards for the rest of their lives. Even the weakest among them felt it was time to erupt.
Wang Meng sighed with emotion. There was a saying that put it well: either erupt in silence or perish in silence. The result of erupting might still be destruction, but at least they would go out with a bang.
"Brother Chen, I’d like to rent a Pill Furnace to refine some things."
"No problem. The grade of the Pill Furnace needs to match your Pill Flame. For First-Grade and Second-Grade ones, I can authorize it for free. Anything Third-Grade or higher requires a fee."
Chen Haiguan said. Apparently, even First and Second-Grade furnaces normally required a contribution fee, but it was easy to get things done when you had connections.
"Thanks. A Second-Grade Pill Furnace will do." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"Alright, follow me."
Chen Haiguan led Wang Meng to a furnace room. "Use it as you please, don’t be a stranger. Just try not to blow up the furnace!"
Chen Haiguan was quite tactful. He closed the door properly behind him, as a Pill Cultivator’s Alchemy was always a secret. It was common courtesy.
Most Pill Cultivators started out as Talisman Cultivators, mainly because Talisman Cultivators had an Innate advantage in mastering Array Techniques and Pill Flames. However, there were occasional Sword Cultivators or Bow Cultivators who also practiced Alchemy. This was fine in the early stages, but later on, it was a different story. After all, every trade requires specialization; a jack of all trades is a master of none.
Normally, even when renting out a Pill Furnace, the supervising senior brother was supposed to assess the user’s skill level. But Chen Haiguan couldn’t be bothered with any of that right now. Like he said, as long as Wang Meng didn’t blow up the furnace, he wouldn’t care if he turned the place upside down. He basically assumed Wang Meng was just there to mess around.
