I Married the President-Chapter 23: Rescued
Just as she was lost in thought, the man suddenly turned and walked out without so much as a goodbye.
Once the man was gone, Claire Sinclair immediately went to shut the door.
’That oppressive aura is finally gone...’
Claire Sinclair collapsed onto the bed, completely drained. She thought about the man’s lecture, her own helplessness, and the possibility that she might never be free of him...
A tremendous sense of loneliness washed over her, leaving her feeling completely lost.
’No, I can’t just waste my life moping over some man.’
’I need to think about what to do next. Right, that scumbag ex still has my key. This place isn’t safe. I have to change the lock first!’
...
The black sedan pulled out of the apartment complex and merged onto the main road.
As it turned a corner, it passed a white car going the other way.
Adrian Quincy glanced over and saw a face he recognized instantly.
’Most of the photos Claire Sinclair deleted were of that face...’
’Damn it!’
’That car was headed toward the old apartment complex.’
Adrian Quincy snapped, "Go back! Now!"
For a moment, Aiden Howkins didn’t understand. "Young Master Quincy, back where?" he asked urgently.
"Go back for her."
"Yes, sir!"
Aiden Howkins didn’t dare say another word and quickly made a U-turn.
’He rarely saw Young Master Quincy this agitated. It wasn’t quite anxiety... his tone was just urgent, but his expression was still a poker face.’
’It seems this gentle sister has a better chance of winning Young Master Quincy’s heart than the tougher one did...’
「A few minutes later.」
Adrian Quincy returned, sprinting up to the third floor at top speed.
As he neared the shabby apartment, he heard a girl’s broken cries for help.
"No... let me go..." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Help..."
"Save me..."
’Damn it!’
Adrian Quincy couldn’t bear to imagine what was happening inside. He lifted his leg and kicked the door open with a resounding BANG!
Inside the apartment, the girl’s clothes were in disarray. She lay on the bed, pinned down, her hands held high above her head by the scumbag, her legs restrained, completely unable to move.
The corner of her lip was split, trickling crimson blood. Her tear-filled eyes, wide with terror, and her deathly pale face were like a shattered mirror, stabbing sharply into Adrian Quincy’s heart.
’Damn him! Damn him!’
’That bastard, what is he doing to her?!’
Logan Linden, in the middle of assaulting the girl, was startled by the sound of the door bursting open and whipped his head around.
An imposing figure strode in, radiating a terrifying, oppressive aura. He looked like a god of destruction descending upon the mortal realm, the very air seeming to freeze around him.
In the few seconds Logan was stunned, Adrian Quincy was already behind him.
Adrian lifted his foot and kicked him off the bed.
Aiden Howkins immediately moved in and, in a few swift motions, pinned the man to the floor.
Logan Linden landed face-first. He struggled to get up, but Aiden Howkins had his arms pinned behind his back, causing him to howl in pain. "Wh-who are you? L-let me go—"
Before he could finish, Adrian Quincy kicked him again.
Channeling all his fury, he kicked Logan Linden viciously in the chest. A crack of breaking bone echoed in the room.
"AGH—" Logan Linden shrieked and passed out from the pain.
Adrian Quincy took off his jacket, walked to the bed, and wrapped it around the girl’s small frame before pulling her into his arms.
"It’s okay now. Don’t be afraid."
"I... I was just about to call someone to change the locks... I wanted to change the locks..." The girl’s face was ashen, her pupils dilated. Fear still had its grip on her, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
Her voice was faint, filled with despair. Each word was like a fine needle, stabbing into the man’s heart.
