I Married the President-Chapter 113: Too Terrifying When He’s Fierce
Her tearful, vulnerable eyes touched the man’s heart, stirring a sense of protectiveness within him.
Adrian Quincy couldn’t help but lower his head, gazing at her face, wanting to wipe her tears away.
Claire Sinclair’s heart began to race, and her thoughts grew muddled.
’How can he be so gentle with me?’
’He doesn’t have feelings for me, yet he’s acting so intimately, like we’re a couple. Is this really okay?’
’But the one he loves is my sister!’
’It’s not me. It will never be me!’
Realizing the man’s intention, Claire Sinclair snapped back to her senses and quickly stopped his large, gentle hand. "No, don’t touch me!!"
Adrian Quincy drew a sharp breath and frowned. "Claire, what’s wrong?"
"It’s nothing, just... don’t touch me..." Claire Sinclair lowered her head, her face flushing crimson.
A slight smile touched Adrian Quincy’s lips as his fingertips brushed through her hair. "I happen to have some free time today. I’ll take you shopping for clothes."
Huh?
Claire Sinclair was stunned. "Is it really a good idea to go clothes shopping right now?"
"Why not?"
"It’s just... It’s just... it wouldn’t look good."
"Claire, celebrities are dazzling, but they have nothing to do with us. By the same token, heroic deeds are worth celebrating, but we still have to live our lives. We don’t need to burden ourselves with misplaced guilt."
He made so much sense that Claire Sinclair found she couldn’t argue.
Adrian Quincy suddenly leaned over and buckled her seatbelt for her.
Claire Sinclair sat rigidly, completely ill at ease. Only after he had returned to his own seat did her body relax.
Adrian Quincy fastened his own seatbelt and resumed driving.
About ten minutes later, the car arrived at a high-end shopping mall.
Adrian Quincy parked the car in the underground garage, then took the girl’s hand and led her into the elevator heading up to the mall.
The elevator doors closed, and Adrian Quincy suddenly received a phone call. Something seemed to have happened at Quincy Manor, and his expression darkened instantly.
"I don’t care what his reasons are. If he broke the law, he’ll be punished. Stop telling me this useless nonsense!"
Listening to him speak on the phone in such a severe tone, Claire Sinclair felt a wave of fear wash over her.
’This man is terrifying when he’s angry...’
’If he ever got that angry with me... I can’t even imagine it!’
As they stepped out of the elevator, Adrian Quincy covered the mouthpiece of his phone and said to Claire Sinclair, "Claire, go ahead and look around first. I’ll find you after I finish this call."
"Okay." Claire Sinclair nodded obediently. She watched the man step into a descending elevator across from them before finally looking away.
’A call from Quincy Manor shouldn’t be taken in a crowded place, so he’s probably gone back to the car.’
Claire Sinclair walked through the mall alone. This kind of high-end mall catered to affluent customers. She had never set foot inside one before; after all, she couldn’t afford anything.
Adrian Quincy’s intention in bringing her here was obvious, but she felt a little hesitant, unsure of what kind of clothes would be appropriate to buy.
She was afraid of being judged for buying something too expensive, but also for buying something too cheap. She truly had no idea what to get.
After wandering aimlessly for a while, she ended up stopping outside a lingerie store.
’Come to think of it, all my underwear is very old. Continuing to wear it isn’t good for me, and since it’s worn underneath, no one should judge me for buying it.’
While Adrian Quincy was away, Claire Sinclair decided to buy a few sets of undergarments first to avoid any awkwardness later.
Claire Sinclair walked into the women’s clothing store. A sales associate was about to greet her enthusiastically but stopped short upon seeing her cheap-looking clothes. The enthusiasm instantly faded into a perfunctory, "Hello, feel free to look around."
Claire Sinclair paid her no mind and began browsing for styles she liked on her own.
