Chapter 36: High-level people

At the entrance to the village, two carriages stopped. The horses were ordinary, and even the driver was ordinary, but the people who got out of them were anything but ordinary.

Elder Owen, followed by 12 people in distinctive Armed Forces uniforms, were the ones who got out of those two carriages.

The drivers swallowed hard and didn’t dare move.

Four generals with suns on their uniforms and eight high-ranking!

All following an elder from the Academy!

The oppression was palpable; their hearts felt like they were about to burst. So the drivers simply remained silent and frozen in place.

Elder Owen looked at one of the generals. "Find Young Edward Lux, the one who entered the Cursed Land, and take me there," he said.

The general nodded. "Yes, my lord," he replied, before disappearing. He would be back shortly.

Then Elder Owen looked at the eight who were standing further back.

"Help those who are still fighting," he said casually. "I can smell the damn stench of death from here."

They stood at attention, like well-trained soldiers, and saluted. "Yes, my lord!" they roared, before leaving.

With that arrangement, Elder Owen felt more at ease. Then he was finally able to take a step inside the village.

However, he stopped immediately and looked up. His eyes passed through the roofs and were soon fixed on one of the distant hills.

"Who is that cockroach watching us?" he asked.

One of the generals frowned and followed the Elder’s gaze until it reached the mountain. Suddenly, an eagle appeared in his eyes. His gaze sharpened as if he were looking through a special telescope capable of seeing for miles.

Not only could he see that mountain, but he also had a 360-degree view.

He could see everything there!

In just a moment!

Despite how quickly he did so, the figure standing on the hill simply vanished when it caught his attention.

He was forced to return to his normal vision.

"Black clothing and teleportation magic," he said. "There was nothing distinctive about him, I can’t recognize him."

"Tsk," Elder Owen grumbled. "It must be those damned Varhat Empire people. They’ve been prowling around recently," he said before starting to walk through the village.

"I’ll keep that in mind, sir." Replied the General. "I’ll reinforce security."

Just then, the general who had left returned. "Sir, the student you mentioned is injured and is at the local medical center. He will need healing magic or high-level healing potions. The other option would be to return him to the academy..."

"Just take me there," Owen interrupted him.

The five of them began to walk away from the area, allowing the two drivers to finally breathe.

.

At the medical center of the village, everyone made way for Elder Owen and allowed him to enter and see.

The doctor treating Edward bowed before him.

"My lord, the young man is unconscious. It seems he fought the beasts for a long time, but in the end succumbed to the cursed energy," said the doctor.

Elder Owen nodded. He could see it.

The cursed energy had burned him from within for a long period of time. If he wasn’t treated quickly, he could even lose his ability to be a Beast Master.

He approached and looked at him more closely, touching different parts of his body.

"Did you give him a potion to remove the cursed energy?" Elder Owen asked, confused.

"No, my lord," replied the doctor.

’How strange. That cursed energy didn’t finish its job,’ he thought, staring at this little boy who was said to be untalented.

’Does he have ways to neutralize it?’ he wondered.

It seemed that this boy had more secrets than he had imagined.

He smiled and took out a high-level potion. ’You’ll have to pay me back sooner or later, little one. I’ll only give it to you because I need you to update me on the mission,’ he thought.

Without a second thought, he gave him the potion. Edward began to recover at a visible rate, but as he had no interest in watching the recovery of an injured body, Elder Owen took his leave. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

"Take care of him," he said simply, before leaving the room of this small and impractical hospital.

"My lord, our men have cleared the field." One of the generals who had gone to investigate how the battle was going returned to report.

He looked at him in shock. "So fast? They killed a Death Knight and thousands of undead in such a short time?"

"This..." The general clutched his head. "I think it’s best if you see for yourself, sir."

Elder Owen frowned. "Take me there," he replied.

.

Elder Owen stood in front of the Portal of the Cursed Land. Around him were countless bones and undead heads scattered everywhere.

The students who had fought and the professor were lying on the ground, with varying degrees of injuries, resting. Meanwhile, the men Elder Owen had brought were helping them recover.

One of them, the leader, was speaking with him.

"My lord, the Death Knight is nowhere to be found. There are still undead inside, but they are not a danger. The Wights were not seven or eight, in fact, there were only three or four. Meanwhile, the Boss Hall is completely empty."

"Empty?" Elder Owen was surprised and looked behind him. "Did they go?"

"No, my lord. When we arrived, they were still fighting here at the entrance."

"You mean someone else killed the Boss?" Owen asked.

"That’s right, my lord. There are signs of a fight in the boss’s room, but it’s not my specialty to know what kind of fights took place there, let alone who did it. Perhaps we should call in someone from the Perception Group who specializes in this," the man suggested.

Only that type of mage could study what happened in that place.

But Elder Owen frowned. ’How strange. A Death Knight is not easy to kill, especially with that sturdy armor they wear,’ he thought.

Now, it wasn’t that he had no clues. The professor behind him, though not very strong, was known for his brutality against the cursed races. His axe could pierce that defense.

However, if it was him, he would have said so. He would have no reason not to.

’Who was it, then?’ Elder Owen frowned.

Just then, a male nurse came running up. "My lord, Student Edward has wake up."
