Chapter 56: Chapter 56 Mansion

While everyone else was already sentencing Lin Feng to death in tomorrow’s duel, Lin Feng himself was completely unconcerned, immersed instead in the simple pleasure of a good meal prepared by his cook, Emery.

The table before him was filled with steaming dishes... fragrant soups, golden-brown roasted vegetables, and thick slices of grilled magical beast meat that still crackled faintly with residual spiritual energy.

"Hmmm... delicious, Emery! Truly delicious! This is incredible!" Lin Feng exclaimed between mouthfuls, his eyes lighting up with genuine appreciation.

"Every bite feels better than the last!"

He tore into the grilled meat with gusto, the rich juices running down his fingers and glistening on his lips.

Yet rather than making him look sloppy, it only added to his natural charm... unfiltered, honest, and refreshingly real.

Lin Feng had never been one to hide behind false elegance or shallow pretenses.

What he felt, he showed, and what he liked, he praised openly.

"I’m glad that you like it, Master Lin Feng," Emery replied gently from the side, her posture straight and composed.

She watched him with quiet satisfaction, knowing the effort she put into each dish had not gone unnoticed.

She remained standing, as always, while Lin Feng was the only one eating.

This wasn’t because he hadn’t invited her... on the contrary, he had asked her countless times to sit and eat with him.

"You should join me, Emery. There’s more than enough food," he had said before, more than once.

But each time, she had politely declined.

"It wouldn’t be appropriate, Master," she would reply, her tone calm but firm.

She had drawn her boundaries clearly, and Lin Feng, despite his casual nature, respected them wholeheartedly.

He never pressured her, never mocked her formality, and never made her uncomfortable.

Instead, he simply accepted her choice and continued to treat her with the same warmth and courtesy.

As he finished another piece of meat, Lin Feng leaned back slightly, sighing in satisfaction.

His gaze briefly settled on Emery, and he couldn’t deny the truth... she was extraordinarily beautiful.

She stood close to five foot eleven, tall and elegant, with a figure that seemed almost unreal in its perfection.

Her face carried a cold, refined beauty, sharp yet graceful, while her body was undeniably alluring, every curve perfectly proportioned.

She rarely smiled, always maintaining a serious, composed expression, giving her an air of distant nobility rather than that of a mere servant and cook.

Any other man would have gone crazy over her.

But not Lin Feng.

He acknowledged her beauty the same way one might admire a fine painting or a rare treasure... without greed, without desire to possess.

He knew his limits, and more importantly, he knew his principles.

To him, Emery was his cook, his subordinate, and nothing more.

He had never once allowed his thoughts to cross that line.

He had seen too many so-called young masters abuse their power, creeping over their servants, maids, and even slaves, treating people as tools for their own pleasure.

Such men disgusted him. Lin Feng had a bottom line, one he would never cross.

He would not stoop so low, would not become scum of the earth, and would never allow himself to become a slave to his own lustful cock impulses.

Respect, to him, was not something that changed based on beauty, status, or circumstance... it was a rule he lived by.

While Lin Feng was eating, Emery hesitated for a moment before finally speaking up, her voice calm but tinged with genuine curiosity.

"Why me, Master Lin Feng?" she asked softly.

"I know you wanted someone who could cook for you, but I also know there are far better cooks than me in the entire universe."

Lin Feng paused, chewing thoughtfully before answering.

He swallowed, then looked at her with his usual relaxed expression.

"Perhaps that’s true," he said. "But you were the only one who truly needed help when I was searching for a cook. Others were already living comfortably, with secure positions and stable lives. You weren’t. Maybe it was fate... or maybe it was just coincidence. Who knows?"

Emery stared at him for a long time.

Her cold, distant eyes wavered slightly, as if something deep within her had been stirred.

For a brief moment, her rigid composure cracked, revealing gratitude she rarely allowed herself to show.

"Thank you, Master Lin Feng," she said sincerely, bowing deeply. If not for Lin Feng, her world and Emery would have already been reduced to machine food.

Lin Feng didn’t respond with grand words or dramatic gestures.

He merely nodded.

"Hmmm..." this happy sound escaped his lips.

It was difficult to speak properly when one’s mouth was full, after all, and he clearly valued his meal just as much as conversation.

Time passed quietly as Lin Feng continued eating, enjoying every dish without hurry.

Nearly two hours later, after he had finally eaten his fill, he leaned back, satisfied.

"Thanks again, Emery. As always, it was amazing," he said warmly before standing and heading back to his room.

Emery watched him leave, then turned back to the table.

With a simple wave of her hand, the plates, bowls, and utensils vanished instantly, cleaned and stored away as if they had never been used.

Still, she didn’t leave immediately.

Instead, she moved through the courtyard, meticulously cleaning every corner until not even a speck of dust remained, her expression once again returning to its calm, unreadable composure.

When Emery was about to leave and return to her world, Lin Feng suddenly called out to her.

"Emery, can you please come to my room?" Lin Feng summoned.

Emery stopped in her tracks.

For a moment, her mind went blank. Her heart slowly sank, a familiar bitterness rising in her chest.

She had truly believed Lin Feng was different... calm, respectful, principled.

But perhaps, in the end, all men shared the same colors beneath the surface.

It took her a full minute before she finally replied.

"I’m coming, Master."
