Chapter 48: The Top 128 Begins!!

Achoo!!

Raiden ate his Falafel Wrap with Toby, wondering who was missing him. Maybe it was Sylvia, who had been absent since morning.

"What cha thinking about?" Toby asked from beside him, feeding what seemed to be bamboo to his little, chubby Terra Beast.

What kind of Terra Beast, you ask? Of course, it was a chubby little panda.

"Ahem, nothing. Anyways, where do you get that Panda? Did you smuggle it out of that nation? I heard it is really hard to do so." Raiden asked casually, while feeding another wrap to Woolie, who wasn’t a picky eater and ate all kinds of vegetables.

"Who? Do you mean my little treasure, Bamboo Fang Beast? It’s not really a rare one, you know. You can get one at Alliance pretty easily."

"Really?" Raiden asked sceptically, before realising it was a brand new world. Panda wasn’t exclusive to that closed-off nation alone, which was a good thing.

"Yeah. Anyways, what do you think about the competition in the afternoon? Do you think you can enter the Top 16?" Toby asked.

"Top 16? Pssh, Woolie and I plan to win the whole competition, right, Woolie?"

"Woo!!~" Woolie nodded while still eating, his face smudged with sauce.

Seeing this, Raiden expertly pulled out a paper towel before wiping its mouth.

"Hahahaha, did you hear that, Leon? This little shit Raiden, he thinks he can win the whole competition. Why don’t I remember him being this funny in school?"

An extremely arrogant voice rang out from behind him, making him turn his head to see two dudes standing in front.

’Leon and Jacob.’

Just seeing those two soured his mood.

Every school had those unreasonable bullies, who had no aim in life and thought it was cool to bully the poor and young. Leon and Jacob were both such people. They tormented the past Raiden a lot, and they were one of the main causes of Raiden’s depression and his silent nature. But he wasn’t the same person as the last time.

"Well, well, well, if it isn’t the fucking inbreds. What wind blew you this way?"

Hearing Raiden’s words, both Leon and Jacob were surprised, before anger took control of them.

"Raiden, you fucking fatherless loser, what gave you the guts to talk to me that way? Do you know who my father is?" Jacob snarled.

"Why? You don’t even know your own father? Didn’t your mum ever tell you about me?" Raiden’s eyes narrowed as he fired back.

"What do you mean—Oh! Why, you!!!" Jacob, who realised the insult too late, rolled up his sleeves and got ready to fight.

"Let it go, Jacob!! This loser isn’t worth it. We’ll set him straight on the stage. If he can ever make it that far." Leon sneered from the side.

"You are right, I’ll see you on the stage. Don’t chicken out if you dare, loser." Jacob spat on the ground before moving away with Leon.

Raiden didn’t say anything, just watching them leave with narrowed eyes. If he ever came face-to-face with either of them,

’Heh!’

"Wow, Raiden, you have changed quite a...bit. I never knew you had it in you." Toby gave him a thumbs-up.

Before he could intervene and help Raiden, he had already dealt with these two himself. This Raiden seemed different. Much more confident and powerful. And he was glad for it.

"Just two jokers jumping up and down, don’t pay them any attention." Raiden didn’t pay too much attention to them.

He was much busier thinking about his true competitors. The ones who were waiting beyond the borders of this city.

"Don’t underestimate them, especially that Leon. He’s also a seeded contestant, you know." Toby warned seriously.

"Him? That guy?? He barely passed?? How did he become a seeded contestant?" Raiden felt it was incredulous.

"Why else? Due to his rich bastard of a father. He runs the entire underground network in the city, and threw money at him like water. With that much money, even a donkey can become a Donkey Kong, let alone him."

Hearing this, Raiden felt speechless.

"Alright, money is King. You can do anything as long as you have money. Anyways, leave it."

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are back to your seats!! We are starting the second round in ten minutes!!"

An announcement rang out from outside.

"Alright, it’s time, let’s go." Raiden finished his wrap before washing his hands and getting ready to go on a stage.

-----------------------------

"...and Toby’s Bamboo Fang Beast rolled forward!! Incredible, the little chubby beast is moving against the inferno!! He is getting near his opponent, and he hits!! His Mach Punch hits directly in the Jawline!! And he is down for the count!! Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Toby!!"

Sylvia stood in the crowd, watching her brother from a distance. As much embrassed as she was, she felt much more worried about him.

All the first round of fights were done, except for two contestants, her brother being one of them.

"Next up, we have Raiden and Jaimal on the stage!! What do you think Hermoine, can that brat maintain his one-hit streak?"

Hearing Harry’s words, Hermione chuckled.

"It seems like you are still sore about what the guy did last time, Harry. But I still believe in him. I think he will create a new legend, becoming an Ultimate Dark Horse!!" Hermione declared with full confidence.

"We will see!! And here he comes!! On the left side, we have Raiden and Woolie, who have ended every fight with a single hit so far!! And on the right, we have Jaimal, and interestingly enough, his Terra Beast is also a Goat Type, a Mountain Crusher!!"

Raiden looked at his opponent, only to see him climbing the steps with a goat-like Terran.

But unlike his cute and adorable Woolie, his goat stood on two legs and had a muscular and menacing form.

"Are both contestants ready?" The referee asked.

Seeing both nod, he waved the flag in his hands.

"Alright, begin!!"

"Mountain Crusher!! Bulk Up!! Iron Defence!! Brace for impact!!" Jaimal started barking instructions. He had studied all the opponent’s previous matches thoroughly. All the foes went down after one hit, no matter what kind of foe it was. So, the best way to overcome that initial hit was to take it head-on and brace for it.

He had calculated the force of impact, and he knew his Terran could take it!! After that, he’ll begin his counterattack.

’Bring it on!! I’ll beat you up and become famous!!’ He thought while smirking.

"Alright, since we are in the top round, let’s take it more seriously and respect our opponents, Woolie. Use Quick Attack." For the first time since the tournament started, Raiden gave proper instructions to Woolie.

Jaimal:???

"Woolie!!~" ( •̀ ω •́ )y

Woolie dug his foot into the stage, his body filled with force, like a coiled spring.

BANG!!

"He has done it once again!! Raiden and Woolie’s one-hit streak remains unbroken!! Will they create a new Legend here?!"

Jaimal, on the other hand, stood there stunned.

’What happened? Who am I? What am I? What am I doing here??’
