Chapter 784: Chapter 784 Blood Sacrifice

Song Jian stepped into the cave entrance, where a narrow passageway lay ahead. The rock walls of the passageway emitted a dim, red glow, the scorching temperature proving almost unbearable even for him.

The passageway led steeply downwards, deep into the earth. Having navigated through it, Song Jian soon arrived at an underground square. Despite its location, the environment here wasn’t any different from the surface. The ground was riddled with cracks through which lava flowed slowly, occasionally spluttering upwards before solidifying into blackish-red rocks.

However, the environment here was a little bit darker than the surface. With his Vertical Eye slightly open, Song Jian could see that the underground square was quite expansive. A few rudimentary straw huts were scattered around, and at the center of the square was a giant altar surrounded by rows upon rows of stone steps, as many as a hundred. At the very top of the altar was a roaring bonfire.

Before the bonfire was a stone platform similar to a bed, on which a young girl dressed in ragged clothes was bound. However, this girl clearly had Abyss Demon lineage. Little horns protruded from her forehead, and faint black patterns appeared on her cheeks – characteristic magical markings of Abyss Temptation. Clearly, this girl held Abyssal Succubus blood.

Several Wolf Spider Demons stood unmoving on the altar’s stone steps, quietly watching the altar, looking like statues.

Next to the stone platform atop the altar, a Wolf Spider Demon adorned with numerous ornaments held a magic staff towards the bonfire, loudly chanting something.

This Wolf Spider Demon, encrusted with ornaments, was massive. Its lower body was a bloated spider’s abdomen, while from the waist up it had a young girl’s body, fair skin, slender arms, and long black hair. If one were to view only its upper body, it would resemble an enticing, wondrous figure.

However, when Song Jian saw her face, he was visibly taken aback, as if he had encountered something unbelievable.

The face of the Wolf Spider Demon was lined with wrinkles, its skin as gnarled as old tree bark, devoid of any teeth, the lips seemed shrunken. It looked like an old man in his eighties.

The magic staff in her hand resembled a creature’s spine. A faint red glow seeped from inside the staff, akin to blood coursing through it.

“The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist, Iphisna…” Song Jian whispered.

He could not discern the name of this monstrous creature. To him, the Ritualist with an elderly face and a young girl’s body appeared as statistically unknown, its attributes marked by question marks, its level indicated by a skull symbol, but he knew that it was the only monster present whose attributes he could not discern. Without a doubt, this was the Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist referred to by the Angel Kekaul: Iphisna.

“A Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist, an altar. This must be where the Sixth Demon Lord Istantin’s Fangs are kept. But where are the fangs, the objective of the quest?” Song Jian muttered to himself, glancing left and right, but he did not find any traces of the fangs.

The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist muttered an incantation. Song Jian could hear clearly that she was reciting in the Abyssal language, but he could not understand a single word.

The Ritualist slowly approached the stone platform. The young girl with the Abyssal Succubus bloodline, who was bound on the platform, looked listless. Seeing the Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist approaching, fear flashed across her face. She fervently shook her head, tears streaming endlessly from her eyes as if pleading for mercy. For some inexplicable reason, she couldn’t make any sound.

The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist elevated her magic staff and gently touched the girl’s forehead. Streams of dark red essence flowed from the staff into the girl’s body. The girl struggled violently, her entire body went rigid, arched like a bow, before falling heavily onto the stone platform.

Streams of gray essence emerged from the girl’s body and rushed toward the large bonfire. The gray essence became increasingly dense. Eventually, a semi-transparent gray silhouette appeared, resembling the girl, and was being drawn out of her body, flying towards the enormous bonfire.

The girl lying on the stone platform, seemed increasingly frail, her breath intermittent, and her state was critical. The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist glanced at her, flicked her hand and the ropes binding the girl ripped apart.

Two Wolf Spider Demons stepped forward and lifted the girl away. The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist leaned on her magic staff, slowly walked towards the bonfire, and began chanting loudly. Suddenly, the formerly crimson flame soared several feet high. A streak of black began spreading from the center of the flame, and in no time, the entire flame turned black.

“The Abyssal Magic Flame!” Song Jian squinted toward the blaze. The black flame was unique to the Abyssal Hell. Only those flames imbued with the purest Abyssal Power were black.

The instant the flames turned black, the Book of the Abyss inside Song Jian began stirring. The surface of the book surged with a black flame, enveloping the entire tome.

As if responding to something, the black flames on the altar became more intense, bounding higher. In the heart of the black flames, a foot-long curved fang slowly emerged, suspended in mid-air and encased in flame.

Song Jian’s eyes lit up. It appeared that the fangs in the midst of the black flames were indeed the quest items. Only the fangs of the Sixth Demon Lord could be compatible with the Abyssal Magic Flame. No other items could possibly withstand the Abyssal Magic Flame for an extended duration.

Securing this quest item would not be an easy task. Given the numerous Wolf Spider Demons occupying the altar – and the presence of a skull-level Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist – with Song Jian’s current strength, it was impossible for him to charge forward and seize the Demon Lord’s fangs.

Song Jian waited patiently. While his Abyss Concealment Skill might be able to fool the numerous Wolf Spider Demons, it would certainly not fool the Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist. If he ventured too close in stealth, she would undoubtedly detect him. Consequently, Song Jian dared not use his stealth skill to advance.

The black flame appeared, and so did the fangs of the Abyss Demon Lord. The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist reversed her magic staff and plunged it into her own heart.

A spray of fresh blood shot forth. The Wolf Spider Demon Ritualist let out a pained groan. Like a fountain, blood erupted from her chest, aiming for the fangs within the black flames.
