"They've caught up to us."

"Haha, their ridiculous pride. They look so calm, but their bodies are quite honest."

"James, are you interested in that little Hua Country chick? Maybe when we get to Babadi, we can get them drunk and you can have a fun night?"

"Get lost, all of you! I'm loyal to Elizabeth!" James said into the walkie-talkie while glancing at a blonde beauty sitting in the passenger seat.

The beauty, who hadn't gotten out of the car earlier, chuckled when she heard James speaking. She opened the team channel on the walkie-talkie and said, "I haven't agreed to anything yet."

"Oh ho!"

"James, you're out of luck!"

"Hahaha, Elizabeth, you made the right decision. You can't make it so easy for James."

They were all rich kids from Eagle Country. This trip to Africa was organized because James knew Elizabeth liked hunting. So he called his friends to set up this event, hoping to spark something with Elizabeth during the outing.

Earlier, some of them had gotten out of the car, eager to show Elizabeth that they were helpful and good guys.

While Elizabeth came along, she didn't accept James's aggressive pursuit. But James wasn't worried. After all, Elizabeth agreeing to hang out with him meant she didn't dislike him, right?

They joked around together, advancing with the protection of two pickup trucks. Soon, they turned past several small hills and saw a large lake. On the other side of the lake, there was a winding river.

The herd of wild buffalo they had been chasing was drinking by the lake, with a few calves playing in the water.

Not far from the lake, a lion lay on a hill, with some cubs playing nearby.

In another patch of grass, a pack of hyenas gathered, circling not far from the buffalo, seemingly eyeing an older buffalo.

The convoy stopped at a distance, not attracting the animals' attention by the lake. Everyone got out of their vehicles, some gazing into the distance, others raising binoculars to watch.

Lin Wan also drove up, parking atop a different hill, a distance away from James's group.

"There really are lion cubs!" Lin Wan said excitedly.

They had only encountered a pride with cubs once on their journey, and Lin Wan had expected more encounters, so she hadn't fully enjoyed it. But afterward, they only saw adult lions, not cubs.

"And there are five cubs, which is quite rare," Lu Zheng remarked. "The last pride only had two."

Lin Wan nodded and smiled, "Let's help them hunt a buffalo later."

"As you wish," Lu Zheng replied nonchalantly.

The two groups stopped a few hundred meters apart, each watching their own side.

Lu Zheng and Lin Wan didn't pay attention to the other side, though the other side pointed and whispered about them.

Sure enough, the lion pride and the hyenas attacked the buffalo herd. However, the adult male buffaloes were formidable and managed to fend off several attacks.

Eventually, a herd of zebras passed by in the distance, and the hyena pack, led by their queen, took off after them, giving up on the tough buffaloes.

The lion pride, undeterred, finally brought down an old bull. The lion strutted over to enjoy its prize.

...

After watching the hunting show, James's group reluctantly got back into their vehicles and left.

However, to their surprise, Lu Zheng and Lin Wan didn't follow them; they stayed behind to continue watching.

"So they weren't following us after all."

"They're brave, just the two of them. They could easily run into danger, right?"

"Who cares, we've already warned them. We're not their babysitters."

As the five vehicles drove away, Lin Wan cheered and suddenly dove into a bush beside a large tree.

"Growl——"

A leopard instantly leapt towards Lin Wan, but...

With a twist of her body, Lin Wan grabbed its neck.

The leopard: !!!

"Little kitty, good thing you were patient. If you had sprung up earlier, I wouldn't have known how to handle you," Lin Wan said with a cheeky grin as she petted the leopard. "Little kitty, I'm going to play with the lion cubs. Want to come along?"

The leopard: ???

Letting go, the leopard shot off like it was on fire, fleeing quickly.

"Let's go play with the cubs!"

Seeing that the lion pride had finished eating, the pair approached on foot instead of driving, to avoid alarming the buffaloes and lions.

However, when they got close enough to the pride, the lionesses spotted them and stood up, growling softly.

"I just want to play with your cubs, okay?"

"Roar!!"

"Is that okay?"

"Growl——"

"I knew it would be fine," Lin Wan giggled.

...

"Bang bang bang!"

"Tatatat! Tatatat!"

Lu Zheng and Lin Wan were playing with the lion cubs by the lakeside when they heard gunfire from the north, followed by the roar of engines and explosions.

Startled, the buffalo herd stampeded into the distance.

The lion pride wasn't unfamiliar with these sounds of death, and upon hearing the shots, the lion growled low. The lionesses rushed over, protecting the cubs, and followed the lion into the dense grass.

"What the heck is going on?" Lin Wan exclaimed, "Such a commotion?"

Lu Zheng squinted and sensed with his Divine Thought, "It's that convoy from earlier."

Lin Wan blinked, "Those Eagle Country people? How come they have... no wait, are they in trouble?"

Engines roared as three jeeps rounded the hill from the left, with a pickup following behind. A man in the backseat of the pickup poked his head out, firing an AK at the rear.

Then, three other pickups appeared from behind, with people in the beds exchanging fire with the first pickup.

Then...

Someone from behind shot out the rear tire of the escort pickup. It swerved, flipped over, and the trailing pickups finished it off with a burst of gunfire, killing everyone inside.

The three jeeps tried to circle the hill, but halfway through, three more vehicles appeared ahead, blocking their path.

At the same time, guns protruded from the three vehicles, unleashing a volley at the approaching jeeps.

The jeeps frantically swerved, but with enemies in front and behind, they had no choice but to stop by the lakeside.

To the left were three pickups, and to the right were two pickups and a jeep. They leisurely moved forward, blocking the jeeps' escape routes, then slowly came to a stop.

Trapped in the middle were three bewildered jeeps, along with Lu Zheng and Lin Wan.
