I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl-Chapter 409 - 406 – The Queen’s Awakening
Sylvia opened her eyes fully.
Her cold red pupils blazed sharply in the darkness of the healing chamber, like two fresh blood embers just ignited. For a moment, the entire room seemed to hold its breath. The aura of darkness that had been swirling slowly around the black stone altar now exploded with fresh power, sweeping across the castle walls and making the rune candles flicker wildly. The Chains of Abyss around her wrists and ankles rattled louder, as if welcoming their master’s return. Clink... clank... clink.
"...They dared," Sylvia muttered. Her voice was still hoarse from ten nights of unconsciousness, but the cold, authoritative tone had fully returned.
She pushed herself up slowly. Her long black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of dark silk. The thin silk cloth wrapped around her body shifted gently, revealing pale skin that had healed completely, without a single scar.
Sofia stepped forward immediately, her golden wings opening slightly and radiating a warm light that contrasted with the room’s darkness. "My Queen..." her voice trembled with relief, thin golden tears welling at the corners of her eyes. "You’re finally awake. Ten nights... we waited ten nights that felt like an eternity." 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Velthya growled happily from the side, her hyena tail sweeping the stone floor hard. "Finally! I’ve been itching to fight again. My lycanthropes have been restless since last night. They’re thirsty for blood after clearing the forest."
Alicia touched Sylvia’s shoulder with her gentle, translucent hand, channeling the remaining warm spiritual energy. "Our soul fusion has stabilized. You are far stronger than before. I can feel it in every black thread connecting us."
Stacia closed her grimoire with a soft thud. Her eight black wings folded neatly, but the feathers still shimmered with the lingering power of the fusion that had not yet fully faded. "My grimoire reacted too. A new page opened on its own. The bond between the three of us... it has grown even deeper."
Celes and Aurellia exchanged a quick glance, tired but genuine smiles appearing on their faces. Celes lifted her crystal sword, which had almost fully recovered. "We’re all ready, Queen. Our wounds haven’t healed completely, but for you... we will advance at any time."
Sylvia sat upright on the edge of the altar. She moved her fingers slowly, feeling the flow of deathly power now coursing more strongly and purely through her veins. A faint, cold smile appeared on her lips, a smile that had not been seen in a long time. "Report," she said curtly, her voice sharp as a blade.
Zark appeared at the doorway as if he had been waiting for the summons. His tall body bowed respectfully, his pale yellow eyes filled with loyalty. "My Queen, last night’s infiltration failed completely. More than two hundred enemies died before they could even set foot in the city. The shadow zombies cleared the southern sector without a sound. Velthya’s lycanthropes annihilated the eastern sector... quite bloodily. The rune traps in the north and west finished the rest."
He continued in a hoarse but clear voice, recounting every detail without wasting words: corpses vanishing into shadows, the echoing howls of lycanthropes in the forest, and the encirclement of elemental zombies now surrounding the enemy fortresses. "All the involved leaders are now trapped. They have offered treasures, artifacts, even their territories. I have ordered the troops to await your command."
Sylvia listened without interrupting. Her eyes narrowed when she heard the names of the dark cult leaders, the minor Nordic gods, and the treacherous Greek nymphs. "Good," she said quietly once Zark finished. "They thought I was weak just because I slept for a little while. Let that fear sink deep into their bones."
She stood up slowly. The legs that had been weak earlier were now strong again. Her steps were steady, though still slightly slow. The aura of darkness followed every movement like a living cloak. "Noir?"
"His evolution is almost complete," Sofia answered quickly. "His roars have grown stronger since last night. His body is now nearly forty-five meters long. His scales... resemble those of the Elder Dragon we fought, but darker and filled with pure undead power."
Sylvia nodded once. "Take me to him."
They moved together down the long black stone corridor. Their footsteps echoed softly. The silver-purple rune lights on the walls glowed brighter, as if responding to the presence of their awakened queen. Outside the castle, the black mist was still thick, but the Nocturne citizens who saw the light from Sofia’s wings from afar began whispering happily. News of Sylvia’s awakening spread quickly, like a cold night wind.
The underground evolution chamber for Noir was a massive cave surrounded by circles of death runes. The air there was hot and heavy, filled with the scent of ancient blood mixed with undead energy in every corner. The zombie dragon’s body, once only thirty meters long, now curled in the center of the circle, almost filling the entire room. Its pitch-black scales gleamed with dark red veins that pulsed like living lava. Its horns were sharper, its wings broader, and the ancient bloodline aura had now perfectly fused with the pure deathly power of its queen.
The moment Sylvia stepped inside, Noir opened his undead red eyes. A low roar rumbled from his throat grrrroooaaarrr... this time not one of rage, but of respect and joy that shook the entire castle.
KRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKK!!!
A deafening crack of energy echoed. Noir’s scales expanded, his body growing several meters in mere seconds. His wings unfurled fully, creating a powerful gust of wind that made everyone’s cloaks flutter wildly. The runes on the floor blazed brightly, and the evolution process reached its peak. He was no longer an ordinary zombie dragon. He was an Elder Zombie Dragon, a new creature born from the heart of rank 7 and the deathly blood of his queen.
Noir lowered his massive head until it touched the floor in front of Sylvia.
Sylvia reached out and touched the cold scales on his snout. Her touch made the red veins in the dragon’s scales glow even brighter. "Good," she said softly. "You are now worthy to stand beside me as Nocturne’s true power."
Behind her, Velthya growled in satisfaction. "Now we have a dragon bigger than the one we fought yesterday. The enemy will definitely cry blood when they hear about this."
Sofia approached, her golden wings illuminating Noir’s gleaming scales. "The outside world has already begun to move. News of your awakening will spread within hours. Several trapped leaders have already sent official envoys begging for mercy."
Sylvia turned. Undead servants had quietly draped a new elegant black mantle over her body. Her eyes narrowed coldly. "Mercy?" she repeated the word in a low, terrifying tone. "Those who dared infiltrate while I was sleeping do not deserve mercy. But I am not a monster who kills without reason."
She smiled faintly. "We will accept their offers of treasures, artifacts, and territories. Everything that can strengthen Nocturne. But every leader involved must give one thing as guarantee."
"Their souls," Alicia finished with a nod of agreement.
"Exactly," Sylvia said. "One soul chain from the Chains of Abyss for each leader. If they betray us again... they die instantly."
Stacia opened her grimoire once more. "I will prepare a mass soul-binding ritual. With the remaining fusion power, the ritual will be far stronger."
Zark bowed even deeper. "The troops are ready and awaiting your command, Queen. Shadow zombies, lycanthropes, and all elemental zombies stand prepared to move."
Sylvia stepped out of the underground chamber, followed by everyone. The Nocturne sky was still dark, but the black mist felt more alive, more obedient to her presence. In the distance, Noir’s roar echoed from below like a beautiful symphony of death.
They arrived at the castle balcony overlooking the entire city. The night wind brushed Sylvia’s face.
"Last night was only the beginning," she said softly, her voice carrying clearly. "Bigger enemies are still watching us from the dimensional rifts. The owner of those giant claws... I have not forgotten its pressure. But now we are more prepared."
She raised her hand. The Chains of Abyss emerged from her wrists, coiling in the air like living snakes. Clank clank clank. "Nocturne will no longer wait to be attacked. Starting today, we decide the game."
Behind her, Sofia, Velthya, Alicia, Stacia, Celes, Aurellia, and Zark knelt in unison. From underground, Noir answered with a roar GRRRROOOOOOAAAAARRRRR!!! shaking the entire city.
The Nocturne citizens who heard the roar paused for a moment, then cheered softly. News of the Queen of Death’s awakening spread like black fire through the night.
Sylvia stood on the castle balcony, the night wind gently caressing her long black hair. Her eyes swept across the entire city below faint purple lamps, smoke drifting from the night market, and thousands of zombie eyes now glowing brighter than before.
"Zark," she said softly but firmly, "send envoys to all the besieged fortresses. Their peace offers are accepted... on the condition that each leader provides one soul chain."
Zark bowed deeply. "Understood, My Queen."
In the distance, within the besieged enemy fortresses, the terrified leaders heard the same roar. Their faces turned pale. They knew the silent massacre of the previous night had only been a warm-up.
