Chapter 100: Blue Flames Of Protection

Aamir woke up and got out of his bed. He opened the window near him and looked around. He was the first one to wake up— the other twelve were still asleep. He glanced at the wall clock.

"It’s just 7:30 AM?" he muttered. "Oh man, this is early. Well, let’s take a bath."

He entered the bathroom, took off his shirt, and stood in front of the mirror. As he looked at his reflection, he noticed changes in his body. He looked completely different from the day he entered Nalanda University. After facing many challenges, he had grown— both physically and mentally.

"Look at me," he said, smirking. "Just a 16-year-old boy who already looks older than his age."

After his bath, Aamir got dressed. When he came out, he noticed that some of his teammates were now awake. Riya had also woken up. Aamir looked at her and smiled.

By around 9 AM, all of them headed to the stadium. Except for the six students who had advanced to this round, the others went to the audience stands to watch the matches. Aamir and the others waited in the contestant zone. Soon, students from other schools began arriving as well.

Suddenly, the voice of the host, John, boomed through the stadium speakers:

"Ladies and gentlemen! Today, we begin the third round of the tournament! So, are you all ready?!"

The crowd roared, "YEAH!"

John continued, "We have 18 students who passed the second round, and they are as follows:

Six students from Aryavrata

Five students from Kyokai

One student each from Calonia, Carnelia, Danovia, Maravalia, Valtania, Zhonghua, and Galvia."

As John read out the names, his eyes widened. The audience was equally surprised. In the observation room, where kings and queens from different nations were watching, King Veerendra laughed, his hand covering his face.

The others looked at him and commented, "Well, Veerendra, you’ve brought quite the monsters. Six students from your country passed the previous round! You and Kyokai are completely overpowering the rest."

Ivanka, the Queen of Calonia, smirked and said, "Don’t get too happy, Veerendra. Though they made it this far, the real matches begin now. They won’t go any further."

Veerendra looked straight into her eyes and replied, "Let’s see."

Hyun Min-Jae, spoke up. "Hmm. Lord Veerendra, you do have some good students. I suppose I didn’t make any mistakes by betting on Aryavrata."

Veerendra grinned. "Of course, Lord Min-Jae. But you still haven’t seen their full strength."

Hyun smirked. "Oh, we’ll see soon enough."

While this conversation took place in the observation room, elsewhere in a shadowy corner of the stadium, a man sat cloaked, hiding his face. He silently observed the tournament.

John’s voice returned. "Now that we’ve introduced our contestants, let’s display today’s matchups!"

On the big screen, the pairings appeared:

Aamir (Aryavrata) vs. Nikolai (Calonia)

Riya (Aryavrata) vs. Misaki (Kyokai)

Raj (Aryavrata) vs. Max (Danovia)

Seenu (Aryavrata) vs. Shirou (Kyokai)

Meera (Aryavrata) vs. Kiyoto (Kyokai)

Arjun (Aryavrata) vs. Sinki (Kyokai)

Miyo (Kyokai) vs. Carli (Maravalia)

Shang Ling (Zhonghua) vs. Nowela (Galvia)

Chris (Valtania) vs. Ji-Hoo (Carnelia)

"Now that you’ve all seen the matchups," John announced, "let’s call the contestants for the first match to the stage!"

The crowd erupted in cheers.

In the contestant zone, Aamir stood calmly. A short distance away stood his opponent, Nikolai. A man approached Nikolai — it was the teacher who had accompanied the Calonian students.

"Come with me," he said.

Nikolai followed him to a corner, where the teacher handed him a pill.

"This is a power enhancement pill. Take it before stepping onto the stage. It’ll start working in five minutes. You’re strong enough to hold off that boy for at least that long, aren’t you?"

"I can," Nikolai replied. "In fact, I can beat him. I don’t need this pill."

"Don’t get cocky. He’s strong. We must defeat him— no matter what. So take it."

Though reluctant, Nikolai took the pill and returned to his spot.

After a while, John announced the names: "Aamir and Nikolai, please come to the stage!"

Both contestants stepped forward. As Aamir stood before Nikolai, he sensed something... strange. But he didn’t give it much thought.

"Although I don’t like your people’s attitude," Aamir said, locking eyes with him, "I think you are better than them. I saw your last fight. I hope you’ll be a good match for me."

Nikolai smirked. "I don’t know about me, but are you strong enough to face me?"

"We’ll find out once we start."

John shouted, "Contestants, are you ready?!"

Both nodded.

DING!

The match began.

Both fighters channeled their adrenaline energy through their bodies. A heavy pressure filled the air. The crowd could sense it— these two were strong.

"Let’s begin," Aamir said and lunged forward with a punch.

Nikolai blocked it with his arms, then countered with a punch of his own. Aamir caught his fist.

Nikolai knew that if Aamir got a good grip, he wouldn’t let go. So, quickly stepping back, he slipped out of Aamir’s grasp.

"Nice," Aamir grinned. "So you’re aware of that, huh?"

Nikolai grinned. "Yes, of course I do. I can clearly see you have amazing strength. I’m not dumb."

Aamir’s lips curled slightly. "You can’t dodge forever."

He lunged forward again, throwing a precise punch. Nikolai blocked it, but this time, the impact pushed him back a few steps. His arms trembled slightly, and a numbness crept down his forearms.

"What the hell was that?" Nikolai muttered under his breath.

Aamir cracked his knuckles. "One of my Adreno Arts. You’re not the only one with tricks."

Nikolai’s eyes sharpened. "Then let’s stop holding back."

"Gladly," Aamir replied.

Their fists clashed again—one after the other in a flurry of brutal exchanges. The air rippled with each collision, their strikes sending shockwaves across the stadium. The crowd stared, mesmerized, as the fighters tore through the stage with raw power. One of Aamir’s punches slammed into the ground, shattering a portion of the stage. But Nikolai’s blows weren’t any weaker. Every time their fists collided, the arena seemed to shake.

But then Aamir felt it—a shift.

Nikolai’s punches were getting faster.

Stronger.

Too fast.

Too strong.

It wasn’t just adrenaline now.

Aamir’s eyes narrowed as Nikolai drove a crushing punch into his gut. Blood spilled from Aamir’s mouth as he staggered back. His breathing grew heavier, and a chill ran through him.

"System," he thought urgently. "Appraise him. Something’s wrong."

The interface flashed to life. He skipped past the basic stats and went straight to the red-highlighted alert.

Warning: Opponent is using a Forbidden Power Enhancement Pill.

Current Level: Legend Tier.

Note: This power is unnatural. The user’s body has not evolved to contain this strength. The enhancement is temporary and dangerous. Prolonged usage may cause internal rupture, organ failure, or death.

Aamir’s eyes widened.

"He’s risking his life just to win this fight..."

He clenched his fists. "Is there any way to save him?"

No known countermeasure.

Damn it... Aamir gritted his teeth. If I don’t stop him soon, he’ll die.

He launched forward again, this time striking with the full force of his Adreno Art. His kick shot toward Nikolai’s ribs, but Nikolai blocked it with arms now coated in crackling energy. His body began to glow faintly, and a wild aura surged around him—unstable, chaotic.

Then Aamir saw it—Nikolai raising his palm, energy swirling into a dense ball of power. Sparks of lightning crackled through it, distorting the air.

"No...!" Aamir bolted toward him.

But it was too late.

A blinding beam of light shot from Nikolai’s palm, lined with crackling lightning and raw kinetic force. It carved through the stage like a cannon blast, hurtling toward Aamir at terrifying speed.

Everything slowed. ƒrēenovelkiss.com

The crowd gasped.

Aamir’s eyes locked on the beam as it raced toward him.

I can’t dodge it...

Not even the Adreno Shield can block this...

Aamir’s thoughts raced as the blinding beam bore down on him. His arms screamed in pain, the force overwhelming even his enhanced defenses. His knees buckled.

This is it—

But then—

Something snapped in his mind.

His lips moved before he could even think.

"Blue Flames of Protection!"

A burst of azure fire exploded from within him.

The flames surged outward, wrapping around his body like a living shield, burning with divine intensity. The incoming energy beam struck the wall of blue fire—and for a moment, the two forces clashed like gods warring in the heavens.

The blast that followed was monstrous.

An eruption of wind, heat, and pressure shook the entire stadium. The sound was deafening. Even the barrier protecting the audience rippled violently. Spectators shielded their eyes from the searing light.

John, standing near the edge of the arena, gripped his mic tightly, wide-eyed.

"W-We may have our winner...!" he announced, voice trembling.

But just as he was about to raise his hand—

The dust began to settle.

And what they saw made everyone freeze.

In the center of the stage stood Aamir...

Still standing.

Wreathed in shimmering blue fire, his eyes glowing with quiet fury and determination. His body bore cuts and burns, his breathing heavy—but he was alive.

Unbroken.
