I Go to the High Seas for Fishing But Get Hunted by an Aircraft Carrier-Chapter 398: Exploring the Deserted Island
Chapter 398: Chapter 398: Exploring the Deserted Island
Ye Chen continued his exploration on the Deserted Island, not a single soul in sight.
He had to find more supplies before nightfall and bring them back to the cave.
Soon, he had been wandering the island for over two hours but was still clueless.
Ye Chen was not willing to give up, so he chose to keep going.
He knew there must be traces of human activity on the island; otherwise, it wouldn’t be this calm.
Ye Chen cautiously moved forward.
Suddenly!
Ye Chen stopped in his tracks.
"Who’s there? Come out!" Ye Chen shouted, looking around warily.
He found himself trapped in a mist, unable to see anything but the white expanse around him.
Ye Chen used his flashlight to survey the surroundings and saw some dark spots ahead.
He hurriedly sped up to catch up and soon reached the vicinity of the dark spots.
Upon shining his flashlight, he discovered that those dark spots were all snakes!
Why had so many snakes suddenly appeared here?
Ye Chen frowned, yet he was undeterred.
At that moment, the cluster of snakes started to disperse slowly.
Ye Chen promptly followed them.
He quickly understood the situation before him.
There was, incredibly, a wide canyon in front of him, surrounded by steep and solid rocks with absolutely no path in sight.
On the other side of the canyon was a sheer cliff, with no foothold available; the only hope for food and water lay ahead.
After some thought, Ye Chen decided to move forward to investigate.
He took out his flashlight to illuminate the canyon, staying vigilant for any surrounding dangers.
After exploring once more without finding anything unusual, he felt at ease.
He continued onward and finally saw a path leading into the depths of an old mountain forest.
Ye Chen hesitated for a long time but eventually decided to enter and explore.
He walked along the path into the forest and not far ahead, he saw a huge mountain peak standing tall before him. The mighty mountain, reaching about a hundred meters into the clouds, was grand and imposing. Ye Chen’s heart felt as if it was about to leap into his throat.
"This mountain is too big; I can’t get across it," sighed Ye Chen.
Yet, he kept walking forward.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind, and a look of joy appeared on his face.
"This is a huge mountain peak; there should be a way to get across it, right?" Ye Chen murmured excitedly.
He quickly followed the trail towards the mountain peak but stopped soon after, as the mountain was too high for him to climb.
He tried to step on an outcropping rock, but he almost tumbled down. He quickly grabbed onto the rocks to steady himself.
"That was close! I nearly fell to my death! With such a high mountain peak, even flying might not get me up there! I need to find a place to rest before I continue!" Ye Chen murmured to himself.
He carefully examined the huge mountain peak and found that there were no trees or grass on the towering peak, and it was exceptionally dry, which he found strange.
He looked around and saw nothing but trees; there were no sounds of insects or birds, which puzzled him greatly.
Despite its height, the mountain peak was very flat and open, with not a single plant in sight, which Ye Chen found odd.
He wondered if he could find some food and water here to take back.
He took a few steps towards the nearby bushes, and then he saw a small river coursing by.
The river was quite shallow, only about half a person deep, and its flow was very slow. There were a pile of dry bones by the riverbank, it wasn’t hard to deduce that these were animals that had died long ago.
Ye Chen took some wild fruits out of his backpack, then used a knife to cut and discard two before putting his backpack back in place.
"These fruits are wild, they definitely won’t taste great, I have to fill myself up first then I’ll have the strength to pick these fruits to take back, my stomach is already flat from hunger," Ye Chen muttered, and then he started eating the fruits.
Ye Chen roasted the fruits over the fire, and in a moment, the scent of the juicy fruits wafted through the air.
After sniffing the aroma, Ye Chen felt truly ravenous. He grabbed an apple and bit into it voraciously.
Crunch! Crunch!
A series of crisp echoes sounded in the valley, and the taste was incredibly satisfying.
After finishing an apple, Ye Chen picked up another to nibble on.
"Gurgle gurgle..."
A rumble of hunger came from his stomach.
Ye Chen picked up two more apples to eat.
After eating seven or eight in a row, Ye Chen finally stopped.
He threw the apple cores into the nearby grass, wiped the corners of his mouth with his hand, and continued walking forward.
Ye Chen kept walking along the creek, and soon, he came to a towering peak with an entrance to a cave.
Ye Chen did not dare to delay and hurried towards the entrance, then crawled in.
Inside, he found a large cave with stone walls all around, but there was a long corridor leading forward.
Ye Chen moved deeper into the cave, and the further he walked, the narrower the corridor became until he eventually reached the end. There was nothing ahead, just a dark passage.
Ye Chen walked in the narrow passage, feeling very tense but not afraid.
The cave was not deep, and after walking forward for a long time, Ye Chen finally saw an iron door ahead.
He walked over, trying to open the door, but was surprised to find that the iron door wouldn’t budge.
"What on earth is this?" Ye Chen frowned.
"The iron door isn’t moving; is it locked?" Ye Chen wondered.
He wanted to open the iron door but couldn’t manage to do it.
After some thought, Ye Chen retreated from the tunnel.
His task now was to search for food and water; otherwise, it would be difficult to survive on this Deserted Island.
Ye Chen continued to move forward, finding that the tunnel seemed to have no end, and despite walking for a long time, he still couldn’t see the end.
"Do I have to be trapped here for the rest of my life?" Ye Chen frowned.
"This tunnel seems like it will never end, no, I must find a way out," Ye Chen thought to himself.
Ye Chen continued down the tunnel, but his steps noticeably slowed, and he began to feel weary, his body gradually running out of steam.
"Is this trip out really worth it?" Ye Chen lamented.
Ye Chen was really too tired from walking, but he kept encouraging himself to move forward. As long as he could get out, it would all be worth it!
After a long walk, Ye Chen suddenly discovered a fork in the road.
"Is this actually a fork?"
A thought struck Ye Chen, and he hurriedly proceeded.
He followed the fork for about three minutes and found that it actually led to a canyon.
On both sides of the canyon were many forests, and within these forests were numerous animals, as well as some insects.
