I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 19: New skills!
Chapter 19 - New skills!
Next morning.
Rex woke to a bright morning. "Where am I?" he mumbled in a dazed manner. As he opened his eyes, everything seemed too close to him. He was in a small hut filled with the pungent aroma of medicinal herbs.
Stretching his body, he got off the bed, feeling renewed and refreshed, as if some kind of fire was burning within him.
"Oh right, there were a bunch of notifications from the system," he recalled, swiftly sitting back on the bed, only for the wooden bed to break.
"Uhh," he grunted, standing up with a wry smile.
Not knowing what else to do, he sat on the floor and uttered, "Status."
A panel flickered in front of his face.

Rex's eyes widened in shock as he noticed 'Ascender 1-Star' beside his rank, which had clearly been 'Mortal' just a day ago.
A bright smile etched across his face. "So I finally ranked up after devouring Mork," he beamed.
Then, his gaze shifted to the Taming Points. "Hmm..." He wasn't entirely sure how to make full use of them yet, but he felt satisfied with the progress he had made.
However, his eyes stopped on the skills section. With furrowed brows, he grumbled, "System, you said I got skills from Arcane and Mork," recalling the system's message.

[Zap: Shoots a short-range bolt of Lightning, dealing minor damage and stunning the enemy for 2 seconds.]
[Thunder Step: Grants a 50% speed boost for a quick burst of movement.]
Rex stroked his chin. Both seem useful. One is great for attacking, while the other provides a quick burst of mobility, he pondered.
I'll choose after learning what Mork's skill does.
"System, how do I learn... Mork's skill?" Rex asked, with curiosity.
Skill book!?
{Arcane, come out.} Rex gently called her, his tone soft but commanding.
And, as usual, she soared straight toward the sky, paying no mind to any obstacles in her path.
Unfortunately, since Rex was still inside the hut, she regretfully smashed through the roof as she flew.
{Don't fl—} Rex tried to stop her, but before he could finish, she was already soaring high into the sunny sky.
"Haah... How am I going to explain this to the owner?" Rex smiled wryly, shaking his head.
{come here.}
Then he called her down and asked, "Did you, uh... take something when I fell asleep?" His words came out awkwardly as he struggled to figure out how to make her understand.
{Yes, Father. I got something. I tried eating it, but I thought it was important, so I kept it.}
Rex's eyes widened at Arcane's response, the thought of losing even a single skill making his heart skip a beat.
Relieved to know it was safe, he shook his head with a small smile and complimented, {You did good not eating it}
{Thank you, Father,} she said softly, walking straight toward him. As her head touched his chest, she vanished, seamlessly merging back into his body.
"Gasp!" Flinching, he hastily stood up, astonished by the sudden occurrence. He patted his chest and stomach, checking for anything unusual, but everything felt normal.
Tamer's Sanctuary? he thought, confused.
As he thought, Arcane already emerged on her own, without any barrier.
{This is what I got, Father,} she said, handing him a skill book. and soared into the sky through the same broken hole.
Rex held the brown book, his gaze sharp as he examined it. Strange runic patterns ran along its surface, and on the front, bold letters read
[Earth Pulse].
As Rex focused on absorbing the [Skill Book], it vanished from his hands, leaving behind a trail of sparkling dust on his hand.
[Earth Pulse] ‣ Reduces the impact of incoming attacks by converting them into weak pulses absorbed by the ground. However, the user must remain stationary during the process; otherwise, the pulse will be absorbed by the user, sustaining all the damage.
Rex smiled. "A defense-based skill, nice." Even though it had a drawback, he was satisfied.
His focus shifted to Arcane's skills as he contemplated the two skills from below carefully.
[Zap: Shoots a short-range bolt of Lightning, dealing minor damage and stunning the enemy for 2 seconds.]
[Thunder Step: Grants a 50% speed boost for a quick burst of movement.]
"One skill helps me with attacking, and the other with mobility? Hmm..."
With a decisive glint in his eyes, Rex said sharply,
"System, I choose [Zap]."

His face lit up with excitement. "Let's put these skills to the test!" he exclaimed, standing up from the floor and striding out of the hut.
Bright sun rays illuminated his handsome face as he strolled through the village, searching for a suitable spot to practice. After scanning his surroundings for a while, he finally found a promising location at the edge of the village.
A secluded area with a few sturdy trees and large boulders scattered around.
This is a good place, Rex affirmed, nodding to himself with satisfaction.
Standing a few meters away from the thick tree, Rex raised his right hand and focused on activating [ZAP].
Mana churned within his body, springing to life.
A small bolt of lightning took shape near his palm, its jagged, zig-zag form resembling a single streak of thunder.
