I Can See Health Bars in Real Life-Chapter 476 - 4: Babylon - The True Welcoming Ceremony (Part 2)
The seven-headed serpent, with its seven massive heads, rampaged recklessly, devouring anything it bit in one gulp, completely disregarding the fact that those around it were of its own kind.
The surrounding herd of beasts stirred momentarily but quickly reacted as well. Their eyes turned blood-red, and they roared with hostility. Despite the vast differences in size and weight, they charged at the "traitorous" kin, and from a vantage point in the sky, it looked like an army of ants attacking a larger insect.
......
...
"They exhibit a certain degree of intelligence, as if they have a clear purpose, and they can easily distinguish between friend and foe..."
Gu Mo pondered, rubbing his chin, while casually gesturing with his hand. The air in front of him rippled like water, projecting the information he sensed. It appeared like light waves undulating, or like ripples forming on water, with special energy interweaving and transforming, presenting different assigned colors according to the owner's will.
Like "pixels," it composed a dynamically changing real-time image, offering an extraordinarily clear view of the bloody scene unfolding on the distant ground — a massacre among the beast herd rushing toward them.
The information gathered was feedback from Gu Mo's scanning with spiritual will, processed and outputted by him, presented like signals on the energy-woven light screen, broadcasting in real time the scenes unfolding in the distance, allowing the witch to clearly see what was happening.
Kikyo contemplated seriously.
The white-haired demon hunter girl swallowed hard, glanced at the live broadcast on the light screen, and then looked at the grim scene around her. With the witch's arrow and the beasts killing one another, the demon beasts on this ruin were nearly wiped out. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
But from the perspective shown on the light screen, an aerial view, the distant land was teeming with those demon beasts, their density was astonishing.
Clearly, this land had become a nest for demon beasts.
But what exactly happened to the world to suffer such a dreadful catastrophe?
"This village is beyond saving. Let's leave for now... There are too many demon beasts. Even if we've delayed slightly, the others will smell the blood and come this way, and even the mightiest lion can be killed by a swarm of ants. The individuals I'm controlling are powerful, but they can't withstand such numbers..."
Gu Mo suggested.
The number of demon beasts entering his perception range increased, like red dots densely populating a mini-map. The two individuals he controlled, though fierce and mighty, had lost independent consciousness, no longer fearing pain or death, able to fight madly.
Yet in the face of demon beasts rushing in like a tide, as large as an ant colony, they clearly couldn't hold on for long. In just moments, they were already covered in wounds, their sturdy scales and shells tore apart, and hot blood spilled out...
Despite the ongoing madness of the battle, Gu Mo could sense their aura rapidly deteriorating, predicting they'd soon be overwhelmed and torn apart by the swarm.
"Then let's go, let's leave here..." The witch nodded gently, glancing around.
Since there were no living people left, staying served no purpose. If feasible, she would have liked to purify and lay to rest the souls here, but clearly, that was not realistic, so she wouldn't insist on such pointless actions.
The priority was to understand the situation...
To see if there still was hope for this world, perhaps elsewhere there were people who needed help, rather than wasting time here meaninglessly.
"Hey, don't just stand there, get on..."
Easily boarding the Death Soul Worm summoned by the witch, Gu Mo called out to the slightly dazed demon hunter girl below, bringing her back to reality quickly.
Then, pointing in a particular direction on the horizon, he mentioned his earlier discovery: "Let's head that way. It looks like there are human defenses resisting the beast herd in that direction, though it's very, very far and we'll have to cross a large forest."
Distance wasn't actually the issue; the problem lay in the sky not being safe either.
While the ground might not teem with demon beasts forming a dense flood, the skies were obviously dominated by far more powerful entities, and flying across might result in an attack... One could only hope that the witch's barrier and his mental interference would be strong enough to circumvent many troubles.
Death Soul Worms, after all, were not convenient, not ideal for aerial combat...
But there was no choice currently. Breathing in the faint medicinal scent around him, Gu Mo mused.
The Sword Control Technique could work, and the two demon blades and swords at his waist were spirited divine weapons. Serving as flying swords wouldn't be difficult, but with his low skill level, he could currently only carry one person alongside him with the Sword Control... Yet, with two companions, he certainly couldn't leave Hiri behind.
Carefully seated on the Death Soul Worm, realizing he was being steadily supported by some force, flying toward the distance, the demon hunter girl let out a small sigh of relief.
Then, as her mind relaxed, she finally had the attention to focus elsewhere, naturally casting anxious and uneasy glances at the ground below.
