Universal Sign-in: Ascending to Godhood With My 10x Rewards!-Chapter 54: The Infiltration Plan
Yeah, it’s my fault. But I will find her. I just need to get stronger.
I clenched my fist, gritting my teeth.
There’s no way I won’t be able to find her wherever she is on Earth once I fully inherit the primordial guardian’s powers.
"And the debt," I whispered.
"What was that?"
"Oh, nothing. I was just saying, no need to apologize to me. It’s okay. I’ll find her soon enough." I flashed a bright smile, my voice a bit cheerful.
Jericho took his hand off my shoulder, his face brightening.
"Now that’s what I’m talking about."
"SO, WHAT ARE WE DISCUSSING ABOUT?" Marcus suddenly interrupted, slapping both our backs.
I groaned in exasperation. Jericho rolled his eyes and sighed.
Where did he even pop out from?!
"Nothing much. Just something about Duz’s sister." Jerry spoke out.
"Huh?" Marcus walked to my front, staring at me from top to bottom. "You got a sister? You? There has been a female reproduced in your family, from the same gene as you?! Interesting!"
I frowned. "What the hell is all that supposed to mean?"
Marcus shrugged, stroking his beardless chin. "Nothing. I’m just surprised, you know. Although I do think I should’ve figured that out already from your interaction with Katie. Clearly you aren’t a beginner in handling children."
"..."
"So... what," his voice dropped low, "what happened to your sister?"
Jerry looked at me, then at Marcus. "She ran–"
"She went missing." I cut in. "It’s been a year now... or is it two years? I lost track."
"Oh," Unc exclaimed softly, his voice mellowing in the somber silence. "I’m sorry." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Nah," I waved a hand, smiling. "It’s okay, I’m sure she’s safe wherever she is; she’s a smart girl. It won’t be long until I find her," my voice dropped low as I gazed at the marble floor, "so she should stay safe. I hope."
Jericho tapped my shoulder, and Marcus tapped the other. And for a short while, we just drowned in the silence.
Finally, Jericho cleared his throat, taking his hand off. Marcus followed suit.
"So, let’s draft the plan for our ’Infiltration’!" Marcus broke the ice.
"You’re right. We need to start making our move." Jerry supported.
I nodded.
"First of all," Jerry walked over to a couch and sat on it, relaxing his back and exhaling, "the last thing Mr. Park said before he left."
"The one about reporting strange dreams?" I asked, walking toward the third, smaller couch in the living room.
Jerry rested his chin on his fist. "Yes. That one. It correlates with what Richard told us back at the station, yeah?"
"I think they’re really fishing for ’awakeners,’ which confirms that they in fact do know about the existence of awakeners," Marcus said, grabbing the TV remote and turning the TV off.
"Do you guys think they knew about the apocalypse before the apocalypse even began? And they already knew that people would awaken?" I leaned back on the couch, relaxing and crossing my arms.
Marcus walked toward me, sitting beside me on the couch, leaning forward.
"I don’t even think that matters anymore at this point. One week is enough to recognize the pattern of awakening around the world. You might be right, but it’s none of our business. We just have to utilize their own knowledge to our advantage." Jerry declared.
Marcus hummed. "And how do we do that?"
"Simple." Jerry declared. "If they’re fishing for awakeners, then we’ll just have to bite the bait."
"Then what would separate us from other fish? Won’t we just be devoured and eaten by the ones at the top?" Marcus asked.
"Nah," I interjected, "I think I understand what he’s getting at. What separates us from the other fish is our knowledge."
Jerry nodded. "And our strength."
Marcus narrowed his eyes, pursing his lips in agreement. "Smart."
"I know," Jerry shrugged.
"So that means we’ll have to report our dreams to them?" I inclined my head, "We have to know exactly what they do to or with the awakened. The best way to find out is to enter their system and see for ourselves."
"Yes, but..." Jerry waved his hand, "It’s a bit too early for that. We just came. It’ll be suspicious if we sleep tonight and report the next day about our dreams. Although I am tempted to do so."
I interlocked my fingers, leaning forward.
"So that means we’ll have to blend in for a while?" Asked Marcus.
"Precisely." Answered Jerry. "We need to extract information from the people who’ve been here for a week. Rumors, word of mouth, anything, all while ’working’ in this sector."
"Ah," I exclaimed. "So that means we’ll ascend sectors too?"
"No. I have a feeling that the Sector S is... hm, I’m not fully sure. But we’ll know when we report our ’dreams’ for sure." Said Jerry.
"For how long?"
"’How long’ what?" Marcus asked.
"How long would we stay and ’work’ until we report our dreams? I don’t really fancy laboring while I could be grinding monsters and growing stronger."
I need my EXP!
"Oh," Jerry chuckled. "Let’s say two days. Right. Two days until we report our dreams. By then, from our various ’jobs’ we’d have gotten at least a little bit of info to brace ourselves."
"That’s a solid plan." Marcus held his chin, "Now, what jobs are we gonna take?"
I grinned. Jerry’s lips curled into a heart-stopping smirk.
We both stared at Marcus.
Unc shivered a bit, forehead wrinkling as he gulped.
"What the hell? Why are you both looking at me like that?!"
"Dear Unc," I called, shrugging. "I have no idea. I’m just following Jerry."
"Pfft. I followed you." Jerry chuckled.
"Unc?!"
"But really, I think we’re gonna work in the marketplace, right?" I asked Jerry.
"Stop calling me Unc!"
We ignored him.
"Nah, we have nothing to trade. We have to wait until the next resource drop, whenever that is. So I’m aiming to work in a higher sector. Like Sector A or so. More info chance." Jerry said.
Speaking of resources...
I smiled.
"Who says we have no resources?"
"Huh?"
"Huh?"
I stretched my hand.
"Ashgrove."
