I Can Replicate Martial Arts-Chapter 189 - 98: You’ve Called the Wrong Person
Brother Kun exhaled a puff of smoke, a confident smile playing on his lips.
If nothing else, neither the Patrol Office nor the underworld would dare to just come and search the Zhengyang Martial Arts Academy.
’You think the enforcers here are all squeaky clean?’
’He wouldn’t hire them if they were!’
"Brother Kun, about what I told you before... the women..."
the man in black said, his brows furrowing slightly.
A faint black aura flickered between his eyebrows, casting a deathly pallor over his entire face.
"Women..."
Brother Kun frowned and scratched his neck. This matter was clearly giving him a headache.
"Don’t worry, Brother Kun. As long as I can make a full recovery, I will absolutely deliver on my promise to you,"
the man in black said in a low, serious voice.
"About that... can’t they be left alive? Do they have to be killed? I can cover for you, but at a critical time like this..."
Brother Kun took a drag from his cigar, pressing the point.
"My Cultivation Technique requires it. I apologize for making things difficult for you, Brother Kun!"
"Hmph."
Brother Kun exhaled a cloud of smoke. "Let’s wait for the heat to die down before we talk about this again. Information travels fast these days. If someone goes missing, it won’t be long before the Patrol Office hears about it."
"I know."
The man in black seemed to have anticipated this outcome. He settled for the next best thing. "In that case, I’ll have to trouble you to send a few women over first, Brother Kun. It will help me recover my Power."
"I can send you the women," Brother Kun said in a cold voice, "but I don’t keep disobedient people on my payroll."
"Don’t worry, Brother Kun. I understand."
Hearing this, Brother Kun nodded. "Just focus on recovering. I’ll have the women sent over."
With that, Brother Kun stood up and left the suite.
「About half an hour later.」
Outside the Zhengyang Martial Arts Academy, several men with strange auras and grim faces, mixed in among a group of Patrols, walked into the Martial Arts Hall.
"Sirs, this is a private club. You can’t just barge in."
Two attendants calmly stepped forward, raising their hands to block the group.
The lead Patrol’s expression darkened. He barked, "Get Ren Kun out here to see me."
"I’m Cui Zhengnan of the city’s Patrol Office."
Hearing the lead Patrol’s words, the attendant was visibly stunned. That name didn’t belong to some run-of-the-mill Patrol officer.
"Inspector Cui, please wait a moment. I’ll make a call right now."
The two attendants hadn’t expected the chief of law enforcement to show up in person.
They hastily contacted Brother Kun on their communicators.
Upstairs, Brother Kun was still mulling over how to find women for the man in black when he suddenly got the call from the attendant downstairs.
They told him Inspector Cui had arrived with a team.
The moment Brother Kun heard this, his brow furrowed. He immediately stood and hurried downstairs.
When he reached the ground floor, he was just about to greet Inspector Cui with a smile.
Suddenly, two figures shot to his sides, fast as lightning. Before he could even react, they each had a firm grip on one of his shoulders.
"Brother Cui, what’s the meaning of this?"
Brother Kun asked in a cold voice, his eyes narrowing.
Inspector Cui pulled out a printed sheet of paper with a man’s face on it.
"Seen him?"
Brother Kun’s pupils contracted. Just as he was about to shake his head, he heard Inspector Cui sneer, "Don’t bother shaking your head. I’m already here. What do you think that means?"
Hearing this, Brother Kun broke out in a cold sweat.
He turned to look at the two grim-faced men flanking him, and a possibility immediately clicked into place.
"Where is he?"
"In the back. Room 1507."
"Go. Lead the way."
At Inspector Cui’s command, the two menacing men hustled Brother Kun toward the stairwell.
Inspector Cui, meanwhile, split his team in two. One group moved to block all possible exits to the ground floor.
The other group rushed upstairs with him.
A few moments later, the group reached the fifteenth floor of the rear residential wing.
The two grim-faced men raised a hand, signaling for the others to remain silent.
They released their hold on Brother Kun and followed close behind the attendant, who was moving toward 1507 with the key.
Once they reached the door,
the attendant knocked.
After a few seconds with no response, the attendant quickly took out a key to open the door.
He managed to open the outer lock, but the door was bolted from the inside.
Seeing this, one of the grim-faced men behind him yanked the attendant away, tossing him aside.
Then he kicked the door, instantly sending it crashing to the floor.
The two men blurred into motion, darting into the room.
"No one here?"
As the two burst in, the rest of the group hurried in after them.
Once inside, they searched the room, only to find it completely empty.
"No one in the room or out the window. The sofa is still warm. Someone was definitely here a moment ago."
Hearing his subordinate’s report, Inspector Cui’s face darkened with anger. "Search! Search the entire place! I want him found, even if you have to tear this place apart!"
He then turned to Brother Kun, his voice seething with fury. "Ren Kun... Ren Kun... you’re really courting death!"
At these words, a muscle in Brother Kun’s jaw twitched.
’He didn’t need to ask to know that the man he’d been protecting was no ordinary murderer.’
"Inspector Cui, it’s all a misunderstanding! I was deceived by him too. Don’t worry, I’ll have my men look for him right away."
Brother Kun was no fool. He immediately ordered his men to start searching.
「Meanwhile.」
Down on the second-floor training hall, Zhao Rui had just finished teaching his students a set of forms. He was about to pick a student to spar with.
Suddenly, his ears twitched.
He looked up, startled, at an attendant walking out of a nearby hallway.
"Hey, you! The attendant! Wait a second."
Zhao Rui’s brow furrowed, his muscles tensing as he walked over.
The attendant hadn’t expected to be called out. His expression was one of brief surprise before he stopped, a slight smile forming on his face.
"Sir, you have no business with me. You’ve made a mistake! A mistake, a mistake!"
As the attendant spoke, his gaze locked onto Zhao Rui.
At the same time, his voice became like a Spell, pouring into Zhao Rui’s ears in waves.
’The Heavenly Demon Illusionary Sound Technique?’
Zhao Rui’s eyes narrowed. Without a moment’s hesitation, he reached out and executed a Prajna Palm, grabbing for the man.
