I Can Hear the Heart's Voice of Traditional Chinese Medicine-Chapter 405 - 168: Focused Mind—Act When Due, Observe When Needed (Part 2)
"Two Feet Stamping Exercise" refers to the natural standing position of the whole body, with feet close together, arms hanging down close to the body, stretching the heels, lifting the body up, and then putting it down, performing rhythmic up and down movements. This enables the adjustment of the meridians, bones, and joints throughout the body, helps relax tendons and bones, and plays a positive role in eliminating dietary stagnation and bad habits.
Among the meridians of the human body, the Ren, Du, Chong, and Dai meridians are the most important. When the feet are together and the heels are lifted, the Du meridian rises and the Ren meridian descends; when lowered, the Ren meridian rises and the Du meridian descends.
The Ren and Du meridians are like a pipeline, similar to an "II"-shaped water pipe where when one ascends, the other descends, and they are interconnected. During these movements, they can eliminate the body’s internal cravings.
While speaking, Lu Xuan lightly stomped his feet, five times in succession.
And each time was different, with the first two times lifted higher and at a slower speed, with longer intervals; the latter three times were lifted relatively lower, quicker, and with relatively shorter intervals.
His hands slowly moved downward, directing all the heat to the Yongquan Acupoint at the soles of his feet. The fingers and whole body naturally relaxed as he stood quietly for a moment, completing the exercise.
"This is the Vajra Skill. It’s similar to the Eight Pieces of Brocade, yet different. Compared to the Eight Pieces of Brocade, the Vajra Skill clearly aligns more with the Inner Canon," Lu Xuan added after completing the exercise.
"I think I understand a bit."
"But..."
Ji Xiuwen pondered and said, "From what you’re saying, aren’t the Eight Pieces of Brocade and Vajra Skill different from gymnastics?"
"Of course, they are different,"
Lu Xuan explained, "Whether it’s the Eight Pieces of Brocade or the Vajra Skill, they are health care techniques, while gymnastics is purely for fitness. Gymnastics can indeed exercise a person, but it does not have the effect of removing the body’s five strains and seven impairments.
These exercises don’t have to be as fast as gymnastics; there’s no counting or tempo involved. The emphasis is on freedom, following the natural way.
Moreover, in terms of strength, the Vajra Skill focuses on internal strength, which can also be called hidden force. Whether with fists tightly clenched or fingers naturally together, using strength in the wrists, that’s hidden force.
This means that the entire process of exerting force emphasizes consistent uniformity and continuity, rather than external force or strong force."
"Furthermore, practicing the Outer Eight Departments requires calmness and naturalness from start to finish, with focused intention and internal spirit, especially the starting movement and the sixth movement, looking back on the five strains and seven impairments, with the spiritual light reflection and closing movement—something gymnastics doesn’t encompass.
Moreover, the Outer Eight Departments include initiating the qi mechanism at the beginning and ending the exercise with expelling disease qi and gathering primordial qi—elements not found in gymnastics."
"Is the Vajra Skill really that amazing?" Ji Xiuwen asked further.
"Would I lie to you?"
Lu Xuan replied with some impatience, "The Eight Pieces of Brocade also have these effects; it’s just that I personally feel the Vajra Skill aligns better with the Inner Canon and seems more scientific from a Chinese medicine perspective.
Put it this way, for those who truly persist in practicing the Vajra Skill, even cancer patients can see therapeutic effects. Their constitution strengthens, they walk lightly, and regardless of work or study, they remain energetic, with many of their troublesome symptoms alleviated or even disappearing."
"If you don’t believe me, just follow what I said and persist in practicing for one or two months, and you’ll find it indescribably wonderful."
Ji Xiuwen thought about it and said, "Okay, I’ll give it a try. It doesn’t look too difficult after all, although I fear my first few tries may not be very standard."
"I’ll teach you a couple more times. If that doesn’t work, you can record it on your phone."
"That’s a good idea. Wait a moment."
Ji Xiuwen quickly took out his phone, turned on the recording mode, and then continued practicing with Lu Xuan.
After repeating it three more times, Ji Xiuwen was quite familiar with the movements, and only then did Lu Xuan stop, taking a short break before sitting down to eat breakfast.
Soon, Ji Xiuwen returned to the room, drenched in sweat: "This Vajra Skill is indeed just as you said, after a long time of practice, instead of being tired, my spirits are getting better."
"By the way, you mentioned this is the Outer Eight Departments, what about the Longevity Skill of the Inner Eight Departments?"
Lu Xuan turned to look at him: "I’ll teach you the Inner Eight Departments after you’ve thoroughly mastered the Outer Eight Departments."
"Alright."
Ji Xiuwen wiped off the sweat with a grin, "Getting you to move here was a good call. I’ve learned another skill. Next time I go home, I’ll teach my parents this Vajra Skill, give them something to do, and stop my mom from going to the square dances every day."
"Oh, by the way, my parents should be able to perform the Vajra Skill, right?"
"Yes, it’s suitable for both young and old," Lu Xuan replied without hesitation.
"Great."
With that, Ji Xiuwen also sat down and began eating his breakfast.
After breakfast, Lu Xuan looked at the time; it was almost eight-thirty, not that early.
"I’m going to the Health Center. The uncle and the others are probably arriving soon. Can you tidy up the place a bit?"
Lu Xuan stood up, leaving these words, and headed off to the Health Center.
The Health Center sees quite a few people working during weekends as well.
Apart from the traditional Chinese medicine department, other departments have staff as well.
However, they have their own rest schedules, and everyone’s working hours are quite similar.
But compared to the Chinese medicine department, other departments are more leisurely, with not nearly as many patients. Having around ten in a day is considered a lot.
Not long after Lu Xuan arrived at the Chinese medicine department, Wang Youqing came in with three other people.
Beside Wang Youqing stood his wife, He Lihong, who appeared just like a typical Northeastern woman, speaking loudly: "You must be Lu, looking good indeed. I’ve heard about you from Old Wang at home, and I didn’t quite believe it until I saw it now. Seems like this guy wasn’t lying." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"Alright, stop making such a fuss," Wang Youqing said with a helpless expression. His wife had always been so outgoing and sociable.
