Chapter 193: Thoughtful Gifts (2)

The entire conversation about replacing the wedding ring for Roxanna was deeply embedded in the minds and hearts of all her husbands. After they finished eating, they quickly left the hut one by one to search for something precious.

Calen and Luan were the first to rush out of the hut, almost as if they were racing each other to find something Roxanna would like.

"He’s healing so fast," Roxanna murmured as she lay on the floor mattress. Through the open door, she watched Calen outside and wondered how he could regain so much stamina in such a short time.

"If he truly carries the blood of a mystical beast—even if it is only a little—then it is only natural for him to recover his stamina so quickly," Cyrus said while sitting beside her.

Roxanna then rolled onto her back and looked up at Cyrus’s face above her. "They all seem to already know what they want to give me. What about you, Cyrus? Can I know what you plan to give me?"

Cyrus smiled and gently stroked the top of her head. "What do you think I will give you?" he asked in his smooth, pleasant voice.

Roxanna blinked several times before finally looking away. [I don’t know how many times I’ve heard his voice, but every time he speaks in that low tone, my heart...] Roxanna placed a hand on her chest without thinking. [...my heart beats so fast.]

"I really have no idea," Roxanna admitted. "Can’t you at least give me a small clue?"

Cyrus simply smiled. "Wouldn’t the gift be more special if you didn’t know about it from the beginning?"

Roxanna let out a small sigh. "If you say it like that... I guess that makes sense."

Cyrus chuckled softly and patted her head again. "Why don’t you sleep for a while? Maybe tomorrow you’ll find out what kind of gifts you will receive."

The moment he said the word "sleep," Roxanna immediately yawned. "But the others haven’t come back yet."

"They will come back later." Cyrus’s gentle strokes on her head made her even sleepier, and she couldn’t help yawning again. "For now, let me stay here and keep you company while you sleep."

Roxanna didn’t say anything else. She simply closed her eyes. Her breathing slowly became calm and steady, and her body relaxed as she drifted into a deep sleep.

Once he was sure Roxanna had truly fallen asleep, Cyrus quietly shifted into a small bird.

His feathers were as red as fire, but like the flames in a fireplace, there was always a soft hint of orange within them.

However, the feathers near Cyrus’s head looked golden, and they shone brightly when touched by light.

Cyrus quietly looked at Roxanna’s sleeping face for a moment. Her breathing was soft and steady, and a few loose strands of hair had fallen across her cheek.

The small bird tilted his head slightly.

Then, very carefully, Cyrus reached his beak toward the feathers near his head and pulled out one of the golden feathers.

A faint tug sound followed as the feather came loose.

"Chirp."

He let out a soft sound, almost like a sigh. Even though he had already prepared himself for it, pulling out a golden feather was never completely painless.

The golden feather slowly floated down in front of him, and at the same time, Cyrus returned to his human form. He caught the golden feather and briefly played with it between his fingers.

"You will like it... right?" Cyrus murmured softly, his voice almost like a whisper carried by the wind.

He then chuckled to himself when Roxanna didn’t say anything. "Silly me. Of course you won’t throw away something given by your husband."

He carefully placed the golden feather beside Roxanna’s head, making sure it rested close to her pillow.

His eyes softened as he looked at her sleeping face. She looked so peaceful now, completely different from her usual lively self.

"It might look useless," Cyrus said softly, "but if you keep it close to you all the time, it will surely help you someday."

Roxanna suddenly moved a little in her sleep. Her brows furrowed slightly, as if she was having a bad dream.

Cyrus reached out without hesitation and gently brushed his fingers across her forehead, smoothing the small crease there until her expression relaxed again.

Then he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. Before straightening up, he leaned close to her ear and whispered softly, "After all... a precious feather suits my precious Roxanna."

Cyrus was about to pull his face away from her, but Roxanna suddenly wrapped her arms around him as if she were hugging a pillow.

For a moment, he thought she had woken up. However, her eyes were still closed and there was no sign that she was thinking about anything, which meant she was truly still asleep.

In the end, Cyrus decided not to move away. Instead, he lay down beside her and gently returned her hug, softly patting her back.

"It feels nice, doesn’t it?" he murmured quietly. "Just... the two of us."

Surprisingly, for the entire night, they simply slept like that together because none of her other husbands returned, even after the sun had already risen.

"Roxie, good morning!"

Aelin’s cheerful voice suddenly rang out from the bedroom doorway.

She stood there with a bright smile. Her complexion looked much better than yesterday, and her body no longer seemed weak at all.

On the other side of the room, Roxanna immediately sat up on the floor mattress, startled by the loud greeting. She was still half asleep, and her eyes were barely open.

When she tried to move, she suddenly realized that an arm was wrapped around her waist.

[Oh... Cyrus? Did I really sleep with Cyrus alone all night?]

She glanced around the room but couldn’t see any of her other husbands anywhere.

"Good morning, Aelin," Roxanna finally said. Then she asked, "Have you seen my husbands?"

Aelin tilted her head slightly. "I’m not sure. I just woke up, and I didn’t see anyone else around."

Then she quickly added, sounding a little excited, "Since I’m feeling much better today and I’ve already healed Calen... can I walk around the tribe?"

Roxanna, who was still half sleepy and a little confused, slowly nodded. "Yeah, but don’t go too far or cross the boundary of the tribe. It will be hard for us to make sure you’re safe if you go outside our range."

Aelin nodded right away. "Oh, don’t worry. I just want to greet the people here and then come back."

She stretched her arms above her head and walked toward the hut’s door. "Oh, I might take a while walking around, so take your time with your husbands. And... if I feel like I shouldn’t come in, I won’t." She added with a teasing smile, "I know you miss them a lot."

Roxanna blinked a few times before finally realizing that Aelin was teasing her. Her cheeks instantly turned red. "No!" she shouted. "It’s still morning! I’m not going to do anything naughty!"

Aelin simply waved her hand in response. "Anyway, see you later."

After saying that, Aelin walked out of the hut, leaving Roxanna and Cyrus alone.

Suddenly, Cyrus pulled her waist closer and murmured in a sleepy voice, "Why did you wake up so early?"

[Too early? The sun already feels hot!] Roxanna complained in her mind.

"Cyrus." She poked his cheek, trying to wake him up. "The others haven’t come back since last night. Shouldn’t we go look for them?"

Cyrus slowly opened one eye. "They will be fine," he said lazily. Then he added, "But if something bad happens to them while they are looking for gifts, then that’s just their unlucky day."

Roxanna was about to say something when she suddenly noticed a golden feather lying beside her pillow.

"What is this?" she asked while picking it up. "Why is there a golden feather here? We don’t even keep a golden bir—"

Her words suddenly stopped. [Oh, wait! Cyrus has golden feathers near his head!]

Roxanna’s eyes immediately lit up. [Did he pull one of his feathers out... for me?!]

Cyrus couldn’t help but smile when he heard how excited his wife sounded after finding the gift.

To be honest, he hadn’t expected much when he decided to give his golden feather to Roxanna. In fact, a small part of him had worried that she might think it was something useless.

Of course, knowing Roxanna, she would never treat a gift from her husbands as trash. Still... he couldn’t stop himself from feeling nervous.

"Cyrus..." Roxanna said softly. "Is this my wedding gift?"

Cyrus nodded a little nervously. "Yes... do you like it?" His voice became quieter at the end.

He didn’t want to expect too much. After all, a single feather looked very simple compared to the wedding ring Roxanna had given him.

But all his worries disappeared the moment Roxanna showed the brightest, sweetest smile.

"I like it a lot!" She held the golden feather close to her chest. "It’s really beautiful! Cyrus, thank you for giving me something that’s so precious to you."
