I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 177: The Wolf That Would Bite the Moon
Fortunately, the moment Roxanna told Mr. Fenrir not to hurt Azul anymore, including covering his mouth, the giant wolf immediately stopped.
"You said this dog was being cruel to you?!" Azul shouted at Calen. His blue eyes darkened, and the usual softness on his face almost disappeared. "But it turns out this dog wanted to let me die so our wife would lose one husband!"
"Why are you blaming me?!" Calen snapped back. "I didn’t know the Fenrir would act like that! Damn it, I didn’t even know he was on my side!"
"Like hell you didn’t know!" Azul fired back immediately. "You and him are both bad dogs!"
Calen’s eyes twitched. "Who are you calling a dog?!"
"You!" Azul pointed at Calen angrily. "You’re a dog!"
"I’m a beastman! Not just a dog! You little fish!" Calen fired back.
They ended up bickering with each other, making Roxanna’s head hurt because of their shouting.
As if that wasn’t enough, the walls around them began moving faster. The rumbling sound grew louder. It felt like the maze was trying to close in and trap them as quickly as possible.
Why? Roxanna couldn’t understand it. Why was Calen’s unconscious mind trying so hard to trap them? Even Mr. Fenrir was being caught in it.
The giant wolf didn’t seem evil. Yes, it had almost let Azul die. But in the end, it listened to Roxanna, didn’t it?
Oh, wait... if the Fenrir had followed her words, didn’t that mean she had already tamed it? Then why hadn’t her side mission been marked as complete?
Just as confusion filled her thoughts, the system’s calm voice echoed in her mind. [Because you haven’t fully tamed it, Host.]
[The Fenrir still wants to rebel, even though you told it not to.]
In other words, Roxanna had to tame the Fenrir until it stopped doing things she didn’t like. But how was she supposed to do that?
And more than that, why couldn’t she just let Mr. Fenrir do what it wanted? Even if it was a giant wolf, it was still a living creature. It had its own thoughts and also its own will.
[Because... Mr. Fenrir can even bite the moon if it wants to.] The system said calmly.
Roxanna frowned and narrowed her eyes. [Yeah... that won’t happen. How could a wolf possibly eat the moon?]
Still... the system didn’t joke for no reason. She shook her head. No. This wasn’t the time to argue with the system.
Right now, the most important thing was getting out of this strange dimension.
The sound of Aelin’s bell echoed from far away. It rang again and again, guiding them forward, but the path in front of them kept closing. Every time they thought they were getting closer, the walls would shift and block their way.
Sometimes, Roxanna felt like they were just running in circles.
"This is your unconscious mind," Azul said, finally stopping his argument with Calen. "Can’t you do something about it? If we keep running like this, we might be stuck here forever."
"If I could control it, I would have done it already!" Calen snapped. "And you’re the one who came here to get me. Shouldn’t you know how to get out?"
Azul clicked his tongue. "In theory, we just need to follow Aelin’s bell. But we can’t even move in a straight line!"
Before Roxanna could add anything, the walls beside them started closing in again.
She quickly grabbed onto Mr. Fenrir’s thick fur as the giant wolf sped up. Its movements were so fast it felt like it was running with the wind itself.
If Calen hadn’t wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, she would have fallen off already.
"When will these walls stop moving?!" Azul shouted, trying to keep his balance.
"Who knows?!" Calen shouted back.
The maze roared around them, and the bell kept ringing. The whole situation made Roxanna’s head spin because it was too chaotic.
[What if the walls never stop moving?]
[What if we really get trapped here forever?]
[What should I do? What should I do—]
Before she became even more panicked and struggled to breathe, she felt Calen’s arms tighten around her. He even whispered near her ear, "It’s fine. We will find a way."
Even though Calen’s simple words helped her calm down, a small thought still crossed Roxanna’s mind. [Was my panic really that obvious?]
She was sure she hadn’t told Calen or Azul that she was panicking. However, she realized that panic could be seen through someone’s actions.
It could be seen in the way someone breathed. In the way their hands trembled. In the way their body stiffened, so maybe... she had looked more shaken than she thought.
Before she could think about it any further, her mind was taken over by the frightening scene unfolding in front of her.
Mr. Fenrir ran faster and faster. The walls on both sides rushed toward them just as quickly and the sound of stone grinding against stone filled the air.
"Run faster!" Calen shouted at Mr. Fenrir. And somehow, the giant wolf obeyed. It sped up so much that its paws almost looked like they weren’t touching the ground anymore. It felt like they were flying.
BOOM!
The moment Mr. Fenrir passed through the narrow path, the walls slammed shut tightly behind them, creating a thunderous sound.
At the same time, Roxanna and the others on the wolf’s back were thrown forward because Mr. Fenrir suddenly stopped.
Roxanna’s body rolled across the ground—no, wait, it wasn’t ordinary ground, it was snow-covered ground!
She groaned softly as she finally stopped rolling. Snow clung to her clothes and hair. Her hands pressed against the icy surface as she slowly lifted her head. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
She then froze in place because she found herself sitting in the middle of a snowy field.
No... not just any snowy field.
This place looked almost exactly like the snow-covered land she had seen right before she died in her previous world.
"Roxanna!" Calen and Azul rushed toward her when they saw her sitting still in the snow. "Roxanna! Are you alright?"
But Roxanna didn’t answer right away. She was staring at the snow, her mind trembling with memories she thought she had already left behind.
