I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?-Chapter 41: Prettier Than a Princess
"Thanks for your help today. Come by my place tomorrow, and I’ll have some food for you." Ye Qianning now had a pretty good grasp of the situation.
"Don’t mention it. It’s not like we helped you for the food."
"That’s right! Who would’ve thought a kid like you could understand what we’re saying? Meeting you was fate! From now on, if you have any trouble in the manor, just let us know. Our whole family will have your back." The weasel stood on the table, waving its little paws.
"Yeah! We’ve got your back!"
The other weasels also jumped onto the table one after another. Weasels of all sizes began hopping about excitedly on the tabletop.
Ye Qianning was only as tall as the table, so the weasels standing on it were looking down at her. Their eyes, large and small, were fixed on her, every single one filled with curiosity and excitement.
"Alright. Then I’ll be counting on you all from now on. If you ever run into trouble, you can come to me, too. I’ll do whatever I can to help," Ye Qianning said with a smile.
"You got it, you got it!" The weasels were thrilled.
"Well, we’ll be heading out then."
The sky began to lighten. After the weasels left, Ye Qianning managed a short nap before Fourth Granny woke her.
Xiang Minghou arrived at Xiruo Courtyard bright and early, waiting to have breakfast with his daughter. Ever since she had married into the family, Lady Liu had seemingly never shared a meal with the General, so she couldn’t help but feel a little excited.
"I heard the General is fond of pastries, so I had some specially prepared," Lady Liu said.
"What I eat doesn’t matter. What my daughter likes to eat is what’s important." Xiang Minghou’s mind was entirely focused on his daughter, his eyes fixed on the doorway.
Lady Liu said hurriedly, "I’ve prepared all of Pangtuan’s favorites. I asked Fourth Granny about them yesterday."
"’Pangtuan?’" Xiang Minghou asked in confusion.
"Oh, Fourth Granny mentioned it yesterday. Qian Ning’s nickname is Pangtuan. I thought it sounded endearing, so I’ve started calling her that, just like Fourth Granny." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Thinking of his daughter’s build, Xiang Minghou couldn’t help but laugh. "Pangtuan? Pangtuan! HAHAHAHA, how fitting! It really does sound affectionate."
Lady Liu had never seen the General laugh so happily, and a smile couldn’t help but spread across her own face.
She resolved in her heart, ’From now on, I absolutely must treat Pangtuan well.’
Once Fourth Granny had helped Ye Qianning wash up and get dressed, she led the girl into the front hall.
Today, Ye Qianning’s little face was bare, and her hair was tied up in two simple buns, adorned with red, tasseled ribbons. She looked absolutely adorable.
Xiang Minghou was stunned the moment he laid eyes on her. He had expected his daughter to be a robust little thing, but she was like a delicate porcelain doll. Her skin was fair and looked so delicate it might break at a touch. She had thick eyebrows and large eyes, and her little face was even prettier than the princesses in the palace.
Lady Liu had suspected yesterday that the little face beneath the makeup must be pretty, but seeing her now, she too was quite shocked. ’So beautiful,’ she thought. ’She’s just like one of those chubby, carved baby figures from a temple to the Child-Giving Guanyin—absolutely adorable.’
"Dad, Aunt Liu," Ye Qianning said with a yawn, still half-asleep.
"I never imagined my daughter would be this adorable! Hahaha, this is wonderful, just wonderful." Xiang Minghou stood up, walked over, and scooped the chubby little girl into his arms.
This was the first time Fourth Granny had seen Xiang Minghou. She had imagined Pangtuan’s father to be as handsome as the Third Prince, not a burly, bearded man.
Ye Qianning didn’t respond, letting out another yawn instead.
"Did you not sleep well last night? Are you still not used to this place?" Xiang Minghou asked, seeing how tired she looked.
"No, it’s not that. I just need a lot of sleep, and it’s too early for me."
When Ye Qianning entered her space, her mind remained fully awake. To outsiders, it looked as if she were sleeping, but in reality, she was merely resting with her eyes closed.
