I Became the Eye Candy: Four Bigshots Claimed to be My Dad?-Chapter 31: General Xiang Happily Gets a Daughter
Ye Qianning watched the man laugh, his smile so infectious it seemed almost magical. She couldn’t help but grin herself, letting out a happy giggle.
Her childlike laughter rang out like silver bells, crisp and captivating.
For some reason, the men who had just been vehemently denying any connection to her felt a strange, inexplicable sensation as they watched this scene unfold.
Something deep inside them had been stirred—
Sang Yan smiled, relieved. ’Finally, someone who isn’t pushing her away,’ he thought. ’I don’t know what’s wrong with Gu Shuo and the others, trying to get rid of such an adorable daughter.’
’They’ll live to regret this!’
"Hahaha! I was fated to be childless, but then heaven suddenly dropped a little dumpling in my lap! Let’s go, daughter! Come home with your old man!" Xiang Minghou was overjoyed. He scooped Ye Qianning up and turned to leave.
"General Xiang, please wait," Sang Yan said, rising to his feet.
"Well now, if it isn’t the Third Prince," Xiang Minghou said, finally noticing the other people in the room.
Sang Yan gave an awkward smile. "These three have been waiting for you, General Xiang, to do the blood-paternity test."
Upon hearing this, the joyful expression on Xiang Minghou’s face vanished. His gaze swept over the three men before finally settling on the bowl of water on the table. He stared at it for a moment, then strode forward and kicked the table over.
CRASH—
The cups and wine jug on the table smashed onto the floor.
Even though the men at the table dodged quickly, they were still splashed with water from the shattering pots.
"Xiang Minghou, what the hell are you doing?" Zhan Chi roared, his face contorted with fury.
Gu Shuo brushed off his robes without a word. He was growing curious about the little girl. ’If no one taught her, how could a six-year-old speak so sharply?’
Qian Fanji was also silent. Her earlier, deeply sarcastic words felt like a sharp knife twisting in his heart.
Xiang Minghou’s expression was grim. He snorted. "You all claim to be so honorable and upstanding, men of impeccable character. But take a look at yourselves. Is this how decent people behave?"
"How are we supposed to know whose child she is if we don’t do the blood test?" Zhan Chi shot back.
"She’s my child!" Xiang Minghou’s dark eyes bored into him, his voice heavy and powerful. "Do you still want to test it?"
Zhan Chi flinched under his gaze, a chill running down his spine. ’A few years apart, and he’s even more terrifying than before.’
"General Xiang, are you certain you don’t need to perform the blood test?" Sang Yan inquired.
"To hell with the test!" Xiang Minghou roared, his gaze sweeping over the other three men. "This is my daughter! Anyone who dares try to take her from me, I’ll beat them so badly their own mothers won’t recognize them!"
His expression made it perfectly clear: if they so much as touched her, he would chop their hands off.
A warmth spread through Ye Qianning’s heart. ’His words are coarse, but he’s right. This is what it means to be a real man, to take responsibility. Not like them, who disowned me and even wanted me dead.’
Sang Yan was long accustomed to Xiang Minghou’s temper. Once he made up his mind, no one could change it. ’But...’ he thought, ’General Xiang has many women in his household. It won’t be easy to explain a child suddenly appearing.’
"Since General Xiang is so decided, I will not say more," Qian Fanji said. "I have official matters to attend to, so I shall take my leave." After speaking, he gave Sang Yan a respectful bow and exited the room.
"Congratulations, General Xiang. I will be sure to visit with a generous gift another day. For now, I must be going. Farewell." Gu Shuo had already decided the girl wasn’t his, so he couldn’t be more pleased that someone had claimed her.
Seeing that the others had left and not having the courage to confront Xiang Minghou himself, Zhan Chi also took the hint and departed.
"Hmph," Xiang Minghou snorted. He turned and saw Ye Qianning watching him. His stern expression instantly melted into a wide grin. "Come on, daughter, let’s go home with Dad. I’ll buy you some meat buns."
