I Became A Side Character Fated To Suffer-Chapter 41:Mystic Strength Enhancement
The forest path was filled with chaos as groups of cadets ran in every direction, trying to escape whatever was coming from behind.
Dust rose into the air with every step, and loose soil shifted under their feet, making it harder to keep balance, and many of them almost slipped as they pushed forward.
Some were shouting loudly, some were already panicking, and others were too tired to even speak properly, their breath coming out in broken gasps.
"Ahh... A beast!"
"I saw a hippo!"
"My arms...!"
"My body!"
Their voices overlapped in confusion and fear as they pushed past each other, not even sure what they had seen, and some of them kept looking back again and again with wide, terrified eyes.
Then,
Bang.
The ground shook violently, and a deep rumbling spread through the path.
A massive figure burst through the trail like a cannonball, tearing through rocks and dust. It did not slow down, and it did not hesitate even for a second.
It looked like a mix of a wild horse and a tiger, but completely wrong. Its muscles were too large, its speed was unnatural, and its glowing eyes carried pure madness.
Its hooves crushed stone into powder, and its claws ripped through anything in its path without effort.
Cadets did not even get time to react.
One of them turned his head slightly.
That was all.
The beast slammed into him.
His body was sent flying like a bowling ball, crashing into two others behind him, and the impact threw all three into the air before they smashed into the ground.
Crack.
Dust exploded everywhere, and the sound of impact echoed.
Their bracelets reacted instantly, glowing bright as their bodies began to fade.
"NO... WAIT...!"
Gone.
Another cadet tried to jump aside, but the beast’s tail swung across suddenly.
Bang!
He spun in the air and hit the rock wall hard, then slid down slowly before disappearing as his bracelet activated.
"My arm... my arm...!"
A cadet looked down in panic, his hands shaking even though nothing was there.
"I can’t feel it...!"
Before he could finish, the beast ran straight through him.
He vanished mid-sentence.
More cadets were blasted away, some rolling down the slope while others slammed into rocks or into each other. It looked like pins being knocked down one after another, and no one could stop it.
One group tried to run faster, their legs shaking badly.
"No, no, no, no, no...!"
"I don’t want to die like this!"
"Why is it so fast?!"
They kept running, even though they could barely keep their balance.
One of them dared to look back, just for a second.
His eyes widened instantly, and his face turned pale as all the color drained out.
He pointed behind with a trembling hand and shouted at the top of his lungs,
"Fuck... It’s the stupid barbarian... Run.."
That was enough.
The entire group screamed and ran even harder, some almost falling over each other in panic as they pushed forward blindly.
Behind them, the beast did not stop.
It kept charging forward, smashing through everything in its path like nothing mattered. Rocks shattered, small trees snapped, and the ground cracked under its weight with every step.
Every step it took sent another cadet flying.
Every impact turned another body into dust.
And one by one, the bracelets kept glowing as they disappeared.
Then suddenly, the beast crashed forward and slammed into a purple-haired figure standing ahead.
The impact shook the ground again.
The group in the distance slowed slightly, turning their heads with disbelief.
"Thank God..."
"Someone drew his attention."
"Let’s pray to God for his safety... By the way, who is it?"
"It’s Noel?"
"...."
For a moment, they just stared.
Then in the next moment, all of them suddenly turned around at the same time.
"Damn... I hope he dies.."
"Yes... We are with you... Crush that petty arrogant."
"Yeah, finish him... Free the world of that menace."
.....
BAAAANG!
My back slammed violently into a tree.
The trunk shook.Leaves exploded everywhere. Then my body bounced off like a rubber ball.
I rolled across the muddy ground three times.
"Guh—" 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Spin.
"Ugh—"
Spin.
"Bleh—"
I finally stopped rolling and lay flat on the ground staring at the sky.
My head was spinning so were trees.
Even the sky looked like it was doing yoga.
"Damn..."
I slowly sat up while holding my head.
"What is that shit..."
I might be Iron level, but my physical stat is quite close to Bronze, around 40, and this guy should be around early Brass, so...
The fuck was that...
It hit me like a fucking truck that had decided traffic rules were merely a philosophical suggestion and went rampaging down the road with the driver extremely drunk and possibly possessed.
I barely had time to curse before instinct kicked in.
I rolled forward just in time.
BOOOOOM!
Something slammed into the exact spot where I had been standing a moment earlier. The impact blasted mud and stones into the air like an artillery shell had landed.
The shockwave sent me flying again.
"AGAIN?!"
As my body went airborne like a poorly thrown potato sack, I calmly twisted mid-air and pulled out a small diary from inside my coat.
Yes.
A diary.
Because organization is important.
While spinning through the air like a gymnast that had lost control of life, I flipped the pages with practiced ease.
Scroll.
Scroll.
Scroll.
"What was his name..." I muttered casually while gravity politely waited for me to finish.
"Punta... Dunta... Santa...?"
Not finding it immediately, I turned mid-air and shouted toward the giant idiot charging at me.
"HEY! WHO ARE YOU!"
The giant roared like a barbarian who had just discovered the concept of anger.
"IT SUNTAAAAAA!"
He looked at me with absolute fury, as if I had personally flirted with his entire bloodline.
"IT SUNTA! AND SUNTA GONNA MAKE YOU PAY!"
He puffed his chest and slammed his fists together like an excited gorilla.
Then the huge, fatty rhinoceros-looking idiot with striped marks like a lion drawn by a drunk painter rushed at me.
"RAAAAGHH!"
He started throwing massive chops and punches. Every fist cut through the air with a terrifying WHOOM and I knew very well that each one of those fists was basically fucking dynamite.
So I moved. I jumped around and sidestepped his first swing, feeling the wind from it graze past my ear. I twisted away from the second, ducked under the third, and hopped back from the fourth. His knuckles missed my face by maybe an inch each time but he kept coming, heavy and relentless, his feet shaking the ground with every lunge.
Meanwhile, my other hand calmly continued scrolling through the diary.
Priorities.
"Uh... now I remember..."
I glanced up at him between dodges, flipping to the next page with my thumb while his fist carved another chunk out of the air beside my head.
"You are that kid that I fucked up during class."
Sunta’s eyes widened.
His face turned red.
"THAT BECAUSE I UNDERESTAJNATE YOU!"
UNDERESTAJNATE
Now...What the fuck is underestajnate...
Ahh....I feel my English is wearing the more I speak with this break.Next moment I saw him thumping his chest proudly.
"The hell are you?"
"Aren’t you from the lion tribe so why the hell are you acting like a gorilla or did someone from their tribe crossed the line of taboo of interbreeding that causes brain heritance from Gorilla by mistake.."
"NO MISTAKE!"
"I LOST CAUSE...
"SUNTA NOT USE MISTAKE LAST TIME!"
He clearly meant "didn’t use mystic," but grammar was clearly not one of Sunta’s evolutionary traits.
"BUT NOT NOW!"
He howled like a caveman discovering steroids.
"NOW SUNTA USE REAL POWER!"
He charged again like a raging bulldozer.
Meanwhile I elegantly dodged another punch and finally flipped to the right page.
"Ahh... found it."
I had ignored Reed’s rambling earlier, but I made sure to note the important stuff.
Very important stuff.
I read the entry.
