I Became a Scoundrel of a Chaebol Family-Chapter 308

April was full of so many events that if I let my guard down even a little, time flew by in a flash.

The district mayoral election had already ended, and several days had passed since the term began. But before I knew it, the by-election for city/district council members—dubbed the “mini general election”—had been held, and the winners decided.

As with the previous one, a large number of the council members I (or more precisely, my secretaries) had planted were elected. Unfortunately, there were so many seats up for grabs that the numbers weren’t overwhelming.

Still, I wasn’t particularly worried. Sooner or later, they’d basically become my lackeys anyway.

“Should I throw another party?”

I kept thinking it’d be nice if there were a massive party, like the Victory Day celebration held every August 23rd in Pyongyang—one where all the key political and business figures and top civil servants of Incheon would gather.

Naturally, I would be the center of it all.

Truthfully, calling it a party was generous. If anything, it was more like a ritual from the old days, where vassals would pay tribute at court.

Incheon had effectively fallen into my hands—so bow before me, that’s the message.

The banquet I hosted on the super yacht last time had the same intention. That meaning was a bit lost thanks to those idiot council members who didn’t show up in droves.

“This time, I’ll make sure this party becomes a tradition.”

A base-level party where everyone attends, and then a separate, degenerate, vulgar party where only the women I handpick move to a different location. Naturally, for the latter, every single one of them has to spread their legs for me. No exceptions.

Don’t get it twisted—I’m not doing this because I’m some sex-crazed lunatic.

This is part of my branding. It’s a deeply seared reminder: You are in a position where you must endure my depraved desires. And, at the same time, a signal that they’ll receive slightly more favorable treatment than the men who can’t.

If this keeps repeating, eventually all the high-ranking positions in Incheon will be filled with beautiful women.

And at the same time, become my personal harem.

“There better not be anyone stupid enough to skip it this time.”

If someone like that exists, that bastard’s... well, I’ll skip describing what happens next.

“Soo-ah. Plan a party to match up with the end of the mayoral election. Something around May should work.”

“Understood.”

Even without a detailed explanation, Soo-ah understood my intention.

She immediately jotted it down and relayed what was needed to the team leaders based on that.

“Next is...”

Even outside politics, there were a lot of events.

For example, welcoming ceremonies for new members of the household.

Given my position, new recruits were always coming in, but if we’re talking about the major ones, there were Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju, who had become my full subordinates, and then my second personal driver, Eun-hwa.

Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju had already gone through basic introductions, but considering their names carried weight, it seemed proper to throw them a welcoming party. Same for Eun-hwa.

“...Feels like I’m becoming a party maniac.”

But it couldn’t be helped.

Those kinds of events are the simplest way to instill the perception: “I value you greatly.”

“Come to think of it, I never assigned them proper roles.”

Of course, it wasn’t intentional.

I’d just been too busy and overwhelmed to pay proper attention.

Thankfully, Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju were still recovering and needed rest, and Eun-hwa also needed time to adapt to her new environment.

As long as things move smoothly, I should be able to handle it naturally.

“That one’s finally becoming useful too.”

With that thought, I went looking for Danto.

Why Danto, all of a sudden? Because I was thinking of assigning her to the intel team alongside Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju.

She’s got the perfect traits for intel gathering—stealth, silent movement, light footsteps, infiltration, all that.

It’d be a waste to let that potential rot.

“Grkk...?”

“Grkk?”

That cheeky little thing—this cat-like Danto—let out a stifled groan the moment she saw me. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Like she’d just seen something awful.

I immediately grabbed this insolent brat by the scruff of her neck.

“Gehhk!”

“What the hell was that sound?”

“Ow, that hurts...!!”

Her huge chest jiggled every time she struggled.

“Your master shows up and that’s the sound you make? Can’t even greet me properly?”

“Uugh...”

I squeezed the scruff harder until Danto’s eyes welled with tears, then finally let go and switched to grabbing and stretching her cheeks as a lesson.

Stretching Danto’s cheeks with a loud schwaaap sound was always fun and satisfying no matter how many times I did it.

Though she clearly hated it.

“Why, why are you here...”

“What do you mean why. Doesn’t your owner have the right to check on his property?”

“You’re so mean...”

“I’ve got somewhere to go, so follow me.”

I took Danto to meet Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju, who were resting.

They were a little dazed from the meds when the introductions happened, but they already knew who Danto was.

“Well, of course. It’d be weird if they didn’t. She’s practically a mascot.”

I treated Danto like a pet so much that the rest of the household had started doing it too.

Not in a degrading or dehumanizing way, though. On the contrary, they really enjoyed her cuteness.

Eventually, even Danto started adapting and now often made cute poses on her own. People really are adaptive animals—once the environment shifts, they evolve(?) to match.

Anyway, under those circumstances, no one staying at Muyeol Land could be unaware of Danto.

“From now on, you three will be directly under me, fetching intel. I don’t care what methods you use. As long as you don’t rely on our group’s support, just bring me solid information.”

“Without the group’s support?”

“Yeah. You’ll be my independent intel network.”

“...! I will do my utmost to be of service to you, Master!”

Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju, excluding Danto, responded with great enthusiasm.

Especially Seo Eun-mi—her eyes looked practically fanatical, to the point where even I felt a little scared.

Same with Seo Aram. The two secretaries I recently gained have been showing an almost crazed level of loyalty to me. It's flattering, but also a bit bewildering. Makes me wonder, “Am I really worth all that?”

Still, there’s no need to push away loyalty that comes to me on its own.

‘But... the three of them alone feel kind of lacking.’

It’s not that they lack ability... More like the composition feels a little underwhelming.

Seo Eun-mi is specialized in hacking, and Ma Yeon-ju has her own experience as a {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} field agent, so I’m sure they’ll perform well. But... I wish there were something more cheat-code-like in the mix.

Filling it out with just secretaries feels kind of meh.

‘...Should I throw Eun-hwa into the mix?’

Knights, by nature, are versatile. Just by including one, you eliminate most deficiencies.

But that also means there’s a high opportunity cost. A personal knight bound to me like Eun-hwa is truly all-purpose—I could use her anywhere, in any way—so to plant her permanently in one organization?

‘If it lets me secure high-quality intel, it wouldn’t be a loss...’

I thought it over for a moment.

Would it really be right to place Eun-hwa in the intel organization?

But the deliberation didn’t last long.

‘Yeah. Information is the alpha and the omega. I’ve got to assign at least one all-rounder knight. And if I ever need knight manpower elsewhere, I can always pull her back.’

I decided to keep it simple.

Use her for now. If it doesn’t work out, reassign.

And it’s not like I only have two personal knights—I can command up to 17 knights total. No need to be stingy.

“I’ll assign you a knight, too.”

I brought Eun-hwa in right away, introduced her, and explained the mission.

Since it wasn’t a role where she’d be guarding me directly or executing my personal commands, she looked a bit disappointed. But she still showed a strong determination to fulfill her role to the best of her ability.

‘Once this group grows, I’ll probably have to make her the team leader.’

Whether it turns into something like a Snow White company or not, an intel organization is an indispensable necessity—so it needs to be maintained at a proper scale.

When that time comes, someone like Eun-hwa, an all-purpose knight, will have to operate at the top to make things run smoothly. Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju, seasoned in intel work, will assist her by her side.

“This is your founding leadership team. If you need additional personnel, discuss it among yourselves and recruit them. Your first major target is the National Intelligence Service.”

“!!”

“!”

Seo Eun-mi and Ma Yeon-ju, who were still a bit dazed from the meds, widened their eyes at the same time.

No need to explain why this hit Seo Eun-mi like a bomb—she’s one of the biggest victims of NIS experimentation. And even Ma Yeon-ju didn’t enter the NIS through normal channels, so both of them immediately flared with anger.

Especially Seo Eun-mi...

‘She looks like she’d kill an NIS agent on sight.’

Her eyes were bloodshot.

‘Makes sense—her entire life was manipulated.’

“I’ve learned that those bastards in the Abyss are actively antagonizing our Group. I can’t just sit back and do nothing. Even apart from the Group, I plan to apply as much pressure as I can on my own. You’re responsible for supplying the intel I’ll need to do that. Think you can handle it?”

I didn’t give any detailed instructions about what exactly to do or how.

I just laid out the objective.

But even so, Seo Eun-mi, Ma Yeon-ju, and Eun-hwa nodded solemnly with steeled expressions.

“Yes. Leave it to us, Master. We will track their every move and lead those bastards to total ruin.”

Now that was a satisfying response.

But seriously, what the hell is up with Danto slacking off like this? Is she asking to be punished?
