I Became a Kindergarten Teacher for Monster Babies!-Chapter 313 Kelpie’s Answers
"Definitely Kelpie’s," Boo whispered beside him, his ghostly tail flicking like an excited cat.
Drake groaned softly, slumping over his desk. "Of course it is... He’s gonna take all the good snacks! He always goes for the fancy ones!"
Vlad Jr., who was elegantly sipping his strawberry juice, smirked. "Perhaps you should have studied harder instead of burning the window frame, Drake."
Drake glared at him. "I didn’t burn it! It was just a tiny spark! And teacher was picking the books in order—whoever placed theirs last got picked first!"
"Tiny enough to make the teacher look out the window," Boo said cheekily, ignoring the rest.
"Shh!" Drake hissed, flapping his wings nervously as Alina flipped open Kelpie’s notebook.
The cover alone made her smile—it was carefully decorated with bits of sea-green glitter and messy but adorable handwriting. "Alright," Alina said warmly, "let’s see what Kelpie has written today."
Drake groaned again under his breath. "He’s totally gonna write something watery and get all the snacks with the shiny wrappers..."
Boo snickered. "Maybe he’ll trade you a cookie for one of your fireballs."
Drake’s head thunked softly against his desk. "Why do I feel like I’m the only one losing in this class?"
Alina blinked at the page, her eyes widening with genuine admiration. "First question—Kelpie wrote, ’The sky is a beautiful roof above water. Sometimes it’s sunny and makes the water feel warm, sometimes it rains and adds more water, and sometimes it’s cold. The sky is just like water—blue, shining, and full of life. It gives home to everything that flies.’" She read slowly, her voice soft with awe.
For a long moment, the class went silent. Even Boo, who always had something funny to say, just floated with his mouth open.
Though there were a few spelling mistakes, Alina didn’t even notice them at first. The words were too heartfelt, too vivid in their simplicity. She pressed a hand to her chest and smiled warmly. "Kelpie! This is amazing!" she said in delighted surprise.
Kelpie looked startled by the praise, his fins fluttering slightly as his cheeks glowed faintly pink. "I... I just wrote what I felt," he said shyly. "I love water... and I think the sky loves water too. They always stay together, no matter how far they are. When it rains, they meet again."
Alina felt something soft bloom in her chest. She leaned down a little, smiling gently. "You’re right, Kelpie," she said. "The sky does love water. That’s why it keeps sending rain, so the rivers and seas never run dry. It’s their way of caring for each other—just like how we show love by giving warmth and kindness."
The class stared at her, wide-eyed and quiet, as if she had just shared a secret about the world itself.
Then Drake whispered, "Whoa... so the sky’s in love too?"
Boo gasped dramatically. "That means the clouds are their babies!"
The classroom erupted in laughter, and even Alina couldn’t help it. She laughed softly until her shoulders shook, her eyes crinkling with warmth.
When the laughter finally settled, she wiped her eyes and smiled at Kelpie again. "Thank you for that beautiful thought, sweetheart. That was one of the most wonderful answers I’ve read."
Kelpie blushed harder, his fins flickering faintly like ripples under sunlight, and he fidgeted with the tip of his pencil. "Thank you, teacher," he whispered, his voice trembling like gentle waves.
Alina smiled and turned the page. "Alright, let’s see your second answer—five words that start with S," she said cheerfully.
Her eyes moved across the page, and a small gasp escaped her lips. "Sea, Shell, Starfish, Sand, and Seahorse." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
A tender smile curved her lips as she read them again. Sea... Shell... Starfish... Sand... Seahorse. Every word sounded like a whisper from the ocean itself.
He really is a child of the water, she thought fondly. The words reflected his world so clearly—it was like reading a tiny poem of waves and tides.
Then she turned to the next page, reading aloud. "Five animals you know..." Her eyes widened again. "Fish, Crab, Dolphin, Seahorse, and... Mermaid?"
Her mind paused. She stared at the word for a moment, unsure if she had read it correctly. Mermaid?
A quiet thrill rippled through her chest. In her human world, mermaids had been myths. But here, in this realm, the word was written as naturally as ’fish’ or ’dolphin.’
Mermaids exist here? she thought, her heart fluttering with wonder. She had always hoped they might, but now, seeing the word in a child’s notebook made it feel real. For a brief moment, she forgot the classroom entirely, lost in that small spark of awe.
But she didn’t say anything. She only smiled softly and closed the notebook.
"Alright, Kelpie, come and collect your cookies and snacks," she said kindly.
Kelpie’s eyes lit up. He jumped to his feet and rushed over to her desk, taking the three cookies from her hands before peeking shyly into the snack bag. After a long, thoughtful moment, he chose a packet of salty chips and a small box of orange juice. His lips curved into a quiet smile as he hugged them close. "Thank you, teacher," he murmured before returning to his seat.
Alina watched him fondly, her heart melting at how adorable he looked carrying his snacks.
Then she reached for the next book. Instantly, Drake covered his eyes with his chubby hands and peeked through the gaps nervously. "Please be mine, please be mine, please be mine..." he whispered.
Boo floated beside him with a mischievous grin. "It’s not yours, sadly..." he said in a spooky tone, wiggling his fingers.
Drake dropped his hands with an exaggerated pout. "Ugh! I wanted my turn already!"
Alina smiled at their antics, shaking her head fondly before looking down at the next book in her hands. The cover was dark blue with a faint shimmer, painted with a mysterious moonlit forest and glowing stars. Her eyes softened. "Lucien," she said warmly.
Lucien, who had been sitting quietly straightened a little, his crimson eyes meeting hers. His fingers twitched nervously against the edge of his desk, but his face stayed composed. Still, there was a flicker of hope in his eyes—a silent wish that teacher would like his answers.
