Chapter 305: Chapter 305 Spy mission

"Vlad Jr., why do I feel like teacher’s late today?" Drake said suspiciously, chewing on his tiny fingers one by one as if counting each minute that passed.

Vlad Jr., who was sitting properly in his chair with the air of a little nobleman, pulled out a miniature antique pocket watch from his bag and clicked it open. "Because teacher is late. Exactly ten minutes and thirty-four seconds late," he said seriously, tapping the glass with his small hand.

"I knew it! I knew it!" Boo cried dramatically, spinning midair with his arms flailing. His transparent ghost tail puffed with frustration. "This is how it starts! First she’s late and next thing you know—she’s kidnapped by Professor Egg!"

"Professor Hobb," Vlad Jr. corrected patiently, closing his watch with a soft click. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Egg! Hob! Same thing!" Boo said angrily, puffing his tiny cheeks.

Sable peeked from behind his desk, his soft shadow curling shyly around his legs. "M-Maybe teacher got stuck in the office?" he suggested timidly, his voice as soft as a breeze.

Vlad turned to him with his usual princely seriousness. "A fair theory. But we must investigate properly. What do you think, Drake?"

Drake squinted, looking deep in thought—or at least pretending to. "Hmm... maybe someone should go and check the staffroom! What if teacher is trapped in a chair?"

"Or what if Professor Egg hid her so he could take revenge against us?!" Felix shouted from the back, slamming his little fist on the desk with unnecessary drama.

The whole class gasped.

Drake’s eyes widened, flames of determination flickering in them. "You’re right! This is serious! Someone’s gotta rescue teacher!"

He jumped onto his chair and spread his tiny dragon wings proudly. "Who’s with me?!" he roared (or at least tried to—it came out like a squeaky growl).

"Me! Me!" Boo shouted, spinning excitedly in the air like a little tornado. "We’ll form a rescue squad! Operation: Save Teacher!"

Before Vlad Jr. could stop them, Drake had already turned into his small dragon form—golden scales glinting in the sunlight that streamed through the classroom window. Boo hopped onto his back like a fearless little general.

"Let’s gooo!" Drake shouted, wings flapping wildly.

The two shot out of the window with a loud whoosh, leaving behind a room full of shocked classmates and one very stressed Vlad Jr. who pinched the bridge of his tiny nose.

"Idiots," he muttered under his breath, standing on his chair to watch them disappear into the sky. "They should have gone from the door. Why must they use the long route?"

Luna crossed her arms and huffed. "Not my problem. I told teacher not to leave us alone."

Rocky, sitting quietly at his desk, looked out the window and whispered in worry, "I hope they don’t get lost..."

Meanwhile, high above the kindergarten roof, Drake was flying in circles, his tiny dragon wings gleaming in the sunlight while Boo clung to his back, half thrilled and half terrified.

"Drake! We’re supposed to go to the staffroom, not sightseeing!" Boo shouted, holding onto Drake’s small horns as the wind rushed past them. "There’s a forest behind this building—don’t you dare fly over it!"

Drake grinned, completely ignoring him. "Relax, Boo! I know a shortcut!"

"A shortcut?!" Boo squeaked, his transparent little tail flicking in panic. "Your shortcuts always turn into long cuts!"

But before Boo could protest further, Drake dove down sharply and swooped over the school garden, gliding dangerously close to the ground. He landed with a triumphant grin near the side wall, where vines crawled over the old stone.

"See?" Drake said proudly, puffing out his tiny chest. "This wall leads straight to the staffroom windows. Told you I know the way!"

Boo blinked, his ghostly face lighting up. "You’re so smart, Drake! We can spy on them without being caught!" he whispered in awe.

"Exactly!" Drake said, his tail swishing with pride. A small puff of flame escaped his mouth—thankfully, it didn’t hit Boo.

Together, they crept closer, climbing up to the wide window ledge. The curtains inside were half open, and from where they crouched, they could see everything clearly.

Inside, Miss Alina stood near the desk, holding a folder and talking politely with Miss Kelly, Professor Hobb, Gabriel, and—Boo’s eyes went wide—Principal Dante.

Boo gasped dramatically and grabbed Drake’s wing. "Drake! Teacher is with the enemy!" he whispered furiously.

"Enemy?" Drake blinked. "You mean Professor Egg?"

"Yes! He’s right there!" Boo said, glaring through the glass. "And look—Angel teacher Gabriel too! He’s smiling suspiciously. I bet they’re plotting something!"

Drake squinted, pressing his nose against the glass. "Hmm... they’re just talking..."

"That’s what they want you to think," Boo said darkly, crossing his tiny arms. "But I know the truth. This is a secret adult meeting. They’re planning to replace our nap time with math!"

Drake gasped, his golden eyes wide with horror. "What?! Not math again!"

"Shh!" Boo hissed, floating up to adjust his ghostly view. "Keep watching. We must collect evidence."

Drake leaned his scaly cheek against the cool windowpane, trying to peek through the narrow gap in the curtain. "Can you hear anything?" he whispered.

Boo pressed his round little face against the glass, flattening it like jelly. "Nothing!" he whispered back in despair. "They closed the windows too tight! Not even a whisper is coming out."

Drake growled quietly, his tiny claws drumming against the ledge. "Tch! What’s the point of a spy mission if we can’t hear the enemy?"

Boo glared at him. "Shh! Don’t call them enemies! Teacher will be sad if she hears you say that!"

"But Professor Egg is an enemy," Drake argued in a whisper, pouting. "He made us solve math! Even Lucien disliked it!"

"That’s true..." Boo admitted, floating in thoughtful silence for a second before gasping dramatically. "Wait! I think I can read lips!"

"You can?" Drake’s eyes widened.

"No," Boo said, blinking. "But I can try!"

He squinted hard, his little ghostly body glowing brighter with concentration. "Okay, okay... I think Miss Kelly said something about ’soup’—no, wait—’group’? Or maybe ’snoop’? I can’t tell!"

Drake rolled his eyes. "You’re useless."

"I’m trying!" Boo hissed back, his voice squeaky with frustration. "You try then, Mr. Hot-Breath!"

Drake leaned closer, his amber eyes narrowing in focus. "Okay... I think teacher said ’good morning’? And then Professor Egg said ’blah blah blah’... wait, this is boring! No one’s fighting!"

"Adults never start with fighting," Boo muttered wisely. "They whisper first, and then they plan something terrible."

Drake’s tail twitched nervously. "Like what?"
