I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 282: Obstacles
Chapter 282: Obstacles
"Do you need any help?" Ravi called out and he couldn’t help but chuckle some more when he saw the expression in Arlen’s eyes like he had been insulted.
"No, thank you."
Lorde. The desert had turned into an ocean. For the people of this world, it was simply a miracle but for people like him, he understood what had happened. The veil must have been so weak in the area, maybe injured from a stray attack during a battle in space or for some other reason, but its weakness allowed spiritual energy or aura or mana or whatever.
Life-giving energy seeped from the universe into the desert. He had felt for the place with the richest energy and he must have been correct when you look at how many traps and villains they have met on the way here.
He reached out with his energy again and frowned. It should be some kind of device, preventing him from teleporting. He should have such devices in his box under his bed.
He reached out with his mind and tried to contact Malik again to no use. Where was he?
Roze, the number ten on the most wanted list saw the young man floating serenely in the air as he looked around.
He blinked. Wasn’t he among the people on their target list? Why hadn’t he sensed him until now?
His back bent over and a bestial aura formed around him. He faced Ravi and grinned. Arlen could not bear to be distracted with the twins that surrounded him but he still said a little prayer for Roze.
Roze’s momentum reached the peak and he suddenly moved. His entire torso leaned forward, his body too flexible for an ordinary human.
As he moved, a gust of wind trailed behind him, rushing to reclaim the space that he had just left.
He appeared before Ravi in the blink of an eye. His face was still grinning, he bent, his knees passing his torso to strike at Ravi.
Ravi crossed his arm in the path of Roze’s foot, the torrent of raging winds causing his hand to flutter.
Bang!
The leg that Ravi touched suddenly disintegrated, turning into fine sand. Roze’s expression changed, his pupils constricted and terror filled his eyes causing him to instantly pull back.
"You!" The pain made him like he was going crazy and he hesitated. The prize money for the heads of these people was five million dollars.
Five million dollars.
Whoosh!
With a silver flash, a head trailed the sky followed by a fountain of blood.
Roze’s hesitation became his undoing as his body descended the sky. Arlen also finished up with the two guys and flew towards Ravi.
He looked at the sword in his hand and raised a brow, "Officer West when we get back, we will have a long talk about Duplicator and how she died."
Ravi coughed and looked away, "I don’t know what you are talking about."
"How about Phantom?" His voice was teasing. Ravi pretended he could not hear, flying faster and faster.
Arlen chuckled but his eyes were still cautious as he looked around. They had been attacked several times on their way to Lorde. He could not relax yet.
The amount of Nest that had erupted today was more than five. Ravi had set up barriers as they moved and he knew his family, the military, and all the heroes would be on it but still, the knowledge that all the casualties are just pawns, collateral damage to slow them down made his eyes turn red with rage.
To this member of Lux, even if all of the earth perished, it would be nothing as long as he could complete his mission, that was just now low they were in the hierarchy of lives.
Arlen could not wait to get his hand on him, to show him just what an Ant could do.
The smell of smoke filled their nose and Arlen gritted his teeth. They were flying so high but the fumes from the fire had already reached here.
Arlen inhaled deep and slowly, he closed his eyes, focusing completely. He willed the energy within him to turn cold. It took a little more effort.
Lightning and wind have always been his favorite way to fight. He was different from Anouk who controlled the weather so willfully and perfectly. When it came to Arlen, the weather was more affected by his emotions than controlled.
He envisioned the clouds gathering, the sky darkening, lightning striking.
"Come." He muttered.
First, it was a gust of wind. With a small shift, it spiraled upwards, gathering more strength with each passing second.
Ravi looked up and smiled. If they were in a cultivation world, then Arlen’s action now would be called a breakthrough.
Beads of sweat formed on Arlen’s forehead as the clouds above churned violently, growing darker and darker. Thunder rumbled and the rain began to fall heavily.
Arlen lowered his hand and looked up; he could not see anything but he could feel a barrier covering him. He turned to look at Ravi.
His lover was smiling, "Congratulations."
"I like my congratulations in kind, love."
Ravi rolled his eyes and passed him a small glass bottle, which Arlen opened and drank down.
His eyes widened at the rush of energy that filled his body. It was like the first day he had awakened. He had felt so powerful for a moment as if he could achieve anything.
He looked at the strange bottle and knew just which of his parents would kill for this bottle.
"Thank you!"
Ravi looked at him, "I like my thanks in kind, Min Sol."
Arlen laughed out loud, his eyes crinkling, "Let’s hurry and save my brother. I have a couple of ideas on how I would love to thank you."
"Some people are here. They are close."
As they flew past the burning town, into clear clouds.
Ravi saw them first. Twelve people with masks with white priestly robes.
One of them suddenly clapped, "Arlen Sinclair, what a wonderful display of ability. Your mother would be most proud. At last, you are worthy to be called Sinclair."
