I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 200: Family
Chapter 200: Family
Ravi smiled, the sense of pride in his chest was something he had never felt before, "En."
Ten seconds later, an eagle flapped its wings, flying directly over the heads of other children in the line before it stood at the forefront of the line.
"You can do that?" Sage said as they walked towards the front of the line, "That does not seem fair."
Ravi looked at him and Sage laughed loudly, holding Ravi’s hand.
It was extremely fast, the feeling of being pulled into space and the feeling of stepping out of it, it was like passing two fabrics of space instantaneously. As they stepped out beside Sage, Ravi gave a nod of approval, Sage’s control over his abilities was just flawless, the space was so stable, it was rare to see even in the Xianxia world he had a mission in.
The woman at the receptionist’s desk collected the pad that Asher had just finished filling and passed over a white electronic tag. She also passed a visitor’s tag across the desk and looked up, "Sir, only one relative is allowed to accompany the candidate." freewēbnoveℓ.com
Sage smiled and stretched out his hand, "I would take it out of the compound, I swear."
Ravi sighed but still passed the key to him.
"Do you believe him?"
"Not at all." Ravi said as the two of them headed inside the waiting hall. He had to bite back his look of utter shock at the display. There was even a band playing some kind of orchestral music.
"Ravi." Asher called and Ravi moved closer, "Can we afford the school fees?"
"We can, don’t worry about that." He could always sell one or two gems for more money and if it comes to grime, isn’t there Malik?
They headed inside and sat down around one of the tables, Asher brought out one of his notes to look through.
Ravi’s phone rang and he picked it up, "Arlen. En. We have arrived. Number 249. It seems like the students are heading inside in their twenties. Our turn would soon arrive. En." He chuckled, and turned to face Asher, "Arlen said that he wishes you the best of luck."
"May I?" Asher stretched his hand for the phone. Ravi’s brows widened for a second, "Sure."
Asher was dressed smartly, he was wearing a baby blue shirt over beige linen trousers, white sneakers, and a dark gray blazer with a white number tag written below the name Asher West.
Ravi swallowed, he had stalled for the longest of time before he had finally called Asher to the living room yesterday evening and given him the form. He had asked Malik to investigate Asher’s background and had found out that his mother was dead, she had died a year after giving birth to Asher, and his father was quite the prolific womanizer and was in jail. He would be released in 6 years. He had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters who were all estranged from their father and living with their various mothers. He noted the various cities that they lived in before he had returned the flash drive to Malik. He had been holding back due to the thought that there might be someone looking for Asher, a parent or a relative searching for him and missing him. To separate him from such a person was nothing more than selfishness but that flash drive had confirmed that Asher was just like him.
He had given Asher the form and his hand had trembled from birth, he wanted to say that it would only be for the school, wanted to find some excuses to run away again but Ravi had promised himself.
"I have to admit I am a little nervous and very much afraid. But Asher, this is something I want very much. As long as you want to, I would like you to take my surname so we could make this legal. You can say no, I would not be angry, I would not be upset."
Asher had looked at him and in that moment, Ravi could see the small cat that he had recused, "What would it mean?"
Ravi looked at him, "You could sue me if I don’t give you dinner."
Asher had rolled his eyes.
Ravi swallowed, "What it means that I am asking you, Asher, would you like to become my family?" His fingers were clenched so tight that there might be small pools of blood. A family? The word resonated in his ears again.
"Family." Asher’s voice was disbelieving, even lower than his.
"En. People that love each other and support each other no matter what."
"Forever?" His voice was shaking as if he was on the verge of tears.
"Yes, forever." Why was his voice shaking as well, Ravi thought as Asher hugged him. When he wrapped his arms around his ward, Ravi was sure in his heart, he wanted Asher to be his family. That cat had walked into his life and his heart and he would not could not see life without him.
"Ravi!" Ash called, handing him back the phone and he took it.
Arlen’s warm voice filled his ears, "I would let you get back to waiting in your showroom?"
"Showroom?"
"That is what Ash called out. He said that it is like a scene out of Hierarchy."
"Hierarchy?"
"The new show. It replaced Paperline. They show it every day at 6:30 p.m on N.B. Forget it, we have to watch one episode together. Say tomorrow, I can come over. I will bring Popcorn?"
Ravi couldn’t care less for the show but the thought of Arlen coming over made him very happy, "I will make the popcorn, you just have to bring yourself, Min Sol."
There was a clearing of the throat next to him and Arlen chuckled, "See you tomorrow, Ravi. Will call you in the afternoon. I love you."
Ravi’s cheeks turned a little red and he got up, walking to the door of the hall, "I love you too. Wait! That show is suitable for children? Right?"
