Chapter 732: Chapter 729: Because I Love You (3)

Vera Wave paid no heed, immediately entering her phonebook, pulling up Kate Palmer’s number, and dialing it.

"Director, it’s me!"

On the other end of the phone, Kate Palmer’s tone was low.

"Vera, what on earth is going on?"

"Let’s not talk about this now; I have something important to tell you." Vera knew Kate was referring to what happened last night, so she swiftly changed the topic. "Regarding the Peacock River situation, you need to warn Kris Cooper."

"Peacock River?"

"Yes." Vera stood up and walked to the window. "Someone has already obtained the information from the village near Peacock River. I’m worried that if the news leaks out, it will be detrimental to our project. I hope you advise Kris Cooper to release the data we previously collected. All the detailed information is with Merlin Bradley; you can get it directly from her. Goodbye!"

On the other end of the phone, Kate Palmer listened to the sound of the disconnected line, raised an eyebrow, and immediately rushed out of her office, heading to the Planning Department.

"Merlin Bradley, give me all the data Vera investigated about the Peacock River pollution event, now!"

After obtaining the data from Merlin Bradley, Kate didn’t slow down. She made her way to the top floor. Upon reaching the CEO’s office door, she saw Tommy Taylor standing there, frowning in front of Kris Cooper’s office, his face etched with worry.

"Is the CEO here?"

"He’s inside."

Seeing Kate Palmer approach to knock, Tommy quickly reached out and gripped her arm.

"If it’s not urgent, it would be better not to go in right now."

"It’s a matter of utmost urgency!"

Kate frowned and knocked loudly on the door. After knocking several times without any response, she knocked harder, but still, there was no answer. She glanced at Tommy, who then stepped forward, gently pushed the door open, and led her into Kris Cooper’s office.

The office was empty. Tommy led Kate to the rooftop terrace, where they finally saw Kris Cooper.

The man wore only a shirt, its sleeves rolled up, and boxing gloves on his hands. He was standing in front of a punching bag, throwing one fist after another.

Beads of sweat were visible on his forehead, and a damp patch darkened the back of his shirt.

His handsome face was taut, filled with anger.

Each punch he threw caused the punching bag’s stand to groan as if in agony.

The news of Vera Wave staying over at Nathan Leafcastle’s house last night had spread like wildfire. Of course, Kate was aware of this.

She understood how Kris Cooper must be feeling at this moment. Kate pressed her lips together, then decided to move forward nonetheless.

Catching sight of them in his peripheral vision, Kris Cooper raised a hand to steady the punching bag.

"Didn’t I say no one was to enter?"

"Mr. CEO," Kate approached, "I have a very urgent matter."

Kris Cooper didn’t turn his head.

"Speak!"

Kate began in a serious tone, "It’s about the Peacock River project. Someone is trying to harm us. I hope you can sit down and hear me out."

The Peacock River project was a very important undertaking for Ashton recently. Hearing Kate speak so seriously, although Kris Cooper was still fuming, he nevertheless removed his boxing gloves and walked over to a small table.

He picked up a bottle of mineral water from the table. Instead of drinking it, he unscrewed the cap, poured the water over his head, and gave his head a shake. Only then did he speak.

"Go on!"

Kate then briefly relayed to him the details Vera Wave had entrusted to her.

"Since someone is targeting us, why don’t we release the data first and seize the initiative?"

Even before the planned launch of the Peacock River project, the company had heard some rumors. To verify them, Kris Cooper had specifically arranged for the Advertising Department to investigate.
