I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 726 - 723: A Man’s Worries (2)
Kris Cooper staggered back two steps from her shove, his body swaying.
Concerned, she rushed to support him, but the man had already straightened up, looking at her with a cold expression.
"Don’t forget, we’re still married. You have this obligation!"
"You’re drunk!"
Vera Wave tugged at her clothes and turned to leave.
Kris Cooper stormed over, grabbed her arm, and began to pull her towards the hallway.
"Kris!" Vera frowned, wincing as his grip tightened. "Where are you taking me?"
"Home!"
The man dragged her onwards without looking back.
Home?! Vera was startled and hurriedly halted.
"I... I’m not going back!"
Kris Cooper didn’t respond. He just tightened his grip and continued to pull her forward. When she dragged her feet, refusing to budge, he turned around and hoisted her onto his shoulder.
Vera was startled. Feeling his shoulder digging into her abdomen, she immediately began to struggle with all her might.
"Kris, put me down! Kris... calm down... Put me down now!"
Ignoring her pleas, Kris Cooper carried her towards the elevator. Hearing her cries, a waiter and the floor manager rushed out from the hallway.
Kris Cooper was a regular, so everyone recognized him. Seeing the situation, the floor manager hurried over.
"Mr. Cooper, what is..."
"Get out of the way!" Kris Cooper shoved the manager aside and strode forward.
The door of a private room ahead opened, and a figure emerged, rushing over to block Kris Cooper’s path upon seeing the scene. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Put her down!"
Kris Cooper looked up, his eyes narrowed at Nathan Leafcastle, who was blocking his way, and took a shallow breath.
"Get out of the way!"
Nathan Leafcastle didn’t move.
"Put her down!"
With a cold laugh, Kris Cooper tried to continue forward, but Nathan Leafcastle shot out an arm, grabbed Kris’s arm, and threw a punch at his chin.
Despite his rage, Kris instinctively twisted his body, shifting Vera to the side.
Nathan’s punch missed Kris’s chest and landed on his shoulder. Still holding Vera, Kris staggered back several steps and fell, landing in a sitting position. Afraid she might get hurt, he quickly put a hand on the ground to brace himself, preventing them from falling completely.
Nathan Leafcastle stepped forward, took Vera Wave by the arm, and pulled her protectively behind him.
Kris Cooper got up and, somewhat unsteadily, approached Nathan, throwing a punch at him.
By now, he was noticeably drunk, his speed and strength diminished. Nathan sidestepped the punch and grabbed him by the collar.
"Don’t!"
Vera rushed over and wrapped her arms around Nathan’s arm.
Nathan glanced at Vera, then gritted his teeth and shoved Kris Cooper away. He reached out and took Vera’s wrist.
"Let’s go."
Kris Cooper staggered back, hitting the wall. Vera quickly scanned him from head to toe. Noticing Merlin Bradley and others rushing out in the distance, she bit her lip and turned to leave with Nathan.
"You brat, come back here!"
Kris Cooper’s roar echoed in the hallway as Vera quickened her pace.
A moment later, they were downstairs.
The driver brought the car around. They quickly got in, and the car promptly left the restaurant.
Nathan Leafcastle turned to look at Vera, who was huddled in her seat. "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine," Vera answered quietly. She then turned to give him a smile. "Thanks, Brother Nathan. Driver, please just drop me at the subway station."
