Chapter 715: Chapter 712: Hide and Seek is Fun, Isn’t It? (1)

Kris Cooper urgently demanded, "How did she leave?"

"She left in the prison’s minibus," the man replied.

Kris Cooper shot out his hand, grabbing the man’s arm. "Color? Plate number!"

"White. The plate number... I don’t recall it."

Kris Cooper turned and ran out of the door.

"Tommy Taylor, quickly! Get in the car!"

The Mercedes-Benz roared to life, made a U-turn at the prison gate, and sped onto the roadway, racing towards the city.

As their car sped forward, Kris Cooper leaned forward, eyes fixed on the road. Spotting a white minibus in the distance, he immediately commanded, "Chase that car!"

The driver accelerated, overtaking the minibus. Kris Cooper then leaned out of his window, signaling for it to stop.

The minibus driver glanced at them but paid no heed.

"Block him!" Kris Cooper ordered. His driver swerved sharply to the left, cutting off the minibus. The minibus driver slammed on the brakes. Before the vehicle had even lurched to a stop, Kris Cooper leaped out and yanked open its rear door.

In the back seat, two strangers stared at him in panic. "What... What do you think you’re doing?"

"Damn it!" Realizing he’d targeted the wrong vehicle, Kris Cooper turned and got back into his car.

"So sorry about that!" Tommy Taylor called out an apology to the minibus occupants as he hurried back to their car. The Mercedes-Benz immediately sped off again.

The farther they drove, the more congested the roads became, with multiple routes leading back into the city. Kris Cooper had them intercept several minibuses, but none were carrying Vera Wave. By the time they entered the city limits, he was so furious he slammed his fist against the car seat.

"That blasted girl!" He rubbed his forehead, then frowned and ordered, "Find out who helped her with the release paperwork!"

If she had used Sophia Thompson’s or Lucille Matthias’s connections, the Cooper family would have been notified long ago. He wouldn’t be finding out only now. No doubt, that girl must have arranged everything discreetly herself; that’s why everyone else was kept in the dark.

In the front seat, Tommy Taylor suddenly recalled something and turned around.

"A few days ago, just after you went abroad, I visited Ms. Wave at the prison. Isla Hawskin also went there around the same time."

"Isla Hawskin?!" Kris Cooper’s eyes narrowed. "Call Glimmer. Check if she’s at work today!"

"CEO, where are we headed now?"

Kris Cooper paused to think.

"The police station!"

As the car sped towards the police station in the district of Vera Wave’s household registration, Kris Cooper took out his cell phone and dialed her number. An automated message informed him that Vera Wave’s phone was switched off.

He hung up, then scrolled through his contacts to Lucille Matthias’s number and made the call. "Aunt Lucille, it’s Kris!"

Alighting from a minibus with her small bag, Vera Wave smiled and thanked the driver. Checking her watch, she slung the bag over her shoulder and entered the subway station.

A short while later, she emerged from the subway station and began walking towards the local police station.

Serving her sentence outside of prison meant she had to complete a supervision registration.

Just as she reached the entrance of the police station, she spotted a familiar Mercedes-Benz parked by the main gate.

Recognizing the license plate, she quickly pulled the brim of her hat lower and slipped into a nearby alley.

「Inside the police station.」

Kris Cooper had already inquired within, but the officers on duty stated they hadn’t seen Vera Wave.

Kris Cooper turned and rushed out of the main entrance. Tommy Taylor lingered for a moment, shaking hands with a smiling staff member and offering his business card.

"We’d appreciate your assistance then. If Ms. Wave comes here to complete her procedures, please notify us at the earliest opportunity."

"Certainly. Rest assured, we will definitely let you know," the staff member agreed politely.
