Chapter 707: Chapter 705: Pregnant?! (29)

Meeting Room.

Christopher Cooper and Bailey Hansen sat side by side on chairs, while Kris Cooper stood at the door, looking anxiously down the corridor. Sophia Thompson and Lucille Matthias stood by the window, staring at Kris’s side profile, their eyes filled with a sense of helplessness.

At last, the staff member returned, still alone. The only difference was that he now held several sheets of paper in his hands.

Kris Cooper rushed over and nervously gripped the staff member’s arm.

"Where’s Vera? Isn’t she feeling well?"

"She said... she doesn’t want to see anyone," the staff member replied, lifting the papers and handing them to Kris Cooper. "Mr. Cooper, this is what she asked me to give you."

Kris looked at the A4 paper folded in his hand, then slowly unfolded it. At the top, four large, handwritten words leaped out at him: Divorce Agreement.

The moment he saw those four words, Kris’s fingers clutching the paper tightened. He shoved the staff member aside and dashed towards the cells.

"Kris!"

Seeing his reaction, everyone stood up and began to chase after him.

Kris reached the iron-barred door and kicked it hard.

"Open the door for me!"

"Stop it!"

Two guards, initially taken aback by his sudden charge, saw his violent outburst and immediately rushed over to pull him away.

"Bastards, let me go! Let me in!" Kris struggled fiercely, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Vera, you damn girl, get out here right now! I need you to explain this!"

"Kris!"

"Kris!"

Several people rushed over, trying to calm the agitated Kris.

"What on earth happened?!" Bailey Hansen asked, visibly confused.

Kris paid no attention to anyone, only staring at the corridor behind the door, yelling hysterically. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"Vera, come out! Stop hiding! Face me if you dare! You think you can get rid of me with a few damn pieces of paper? I need you to explain! Why do you want to divorce me?!"

At Kris’s words, everyone was startled. Christopher and Bailey held him back forcefully while Lucille, pressing down on his hand, saw the words "Divorce Agreement" on the A4 paper he was clutching. She, too, looked utterly stunned.

By this time, the facility staff and security had all rushed over, alerted by the commotion.

"What’s going on?!"

"Open the door. I need to go in," Lucille ordered, her voice firm.

As a staff member came over and opened the iron gate, Kris lunged forward. Christopher barely managed to hold him back. Lucille, gripping the divorce papers, stepped through the gate and walked towards Vera Wave’s cell.

Inside the cell, Vera Wave stood with her back to the door, her face tilted up towards the small window above.

"Vera," Lucille said as she approached. "What happened?"

Outside, Kris’s voice still filtered in, faint but audible.

"Liar! You damn girl, you’re a liar! You said you wanted me to cooperate with the trial! You said you wanted to get out quickly to see me! All lies! Liar!"

"A year and a half isn’t that long; it’ll pass quickly. Besides, if you behave well, you can even get a sentence reduction... Vera, why... why are you doing this?" Lucille’s tone was filled with bewilderment.

"Aunt Lucille!" Vera turned her face to her. "Don’t try to convince me. I’ve made up my mind!"

Lucille furrowed her eyebrows. "But..."

"Damn girl, have the guts to come out and say it to me personally!"

Outside, Kris’s voice continued to echo.

Vera took a light breath.

"Can I go out for a moment?"
