I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 690 - 689: Pregnant?! (12)
Kris Cooper wrapped his arms around her, patting her back comfortingly.
"Stop crying, or else you’ll get wrinkles!"
"If I get wrinkles, it will be because of you!"
Bailey Hansen scolded him tearfully. After a while, she managed to control her emotions and let go of her son.
Seeing his father, Christoper Cooper, nearby, Kris Cooper walked over and put his arms around his father’s shoulders.
"Dad, I made you worry."
With a gentle pat on Kris’s back, Christoper Cooper took the computer bag from his hand. "Let’s go."
Christoper Cooper greeted Lucille Matthias and Sophia Thompson. The staff brought his watch, phone, and other personal belongings that had been taken away earlier. Then, they all exited through the front door together.
Not seeing Vera, Kris Cooper looked around in confusion.
"Where’s Vera?"
Christoper Cooper spoke softly, "She couldn’t make it. We’ll talk about it when we get home."
Everyone got into their separate cars, with Kris Cooper also climbing into the back seat.
"Mom, is she sick?"
"No."
"Then what’s wrong with her?"
He’d been acquitted; she should have been happy to come and pick him up. Unless she wasn’t feeling well, he couldn’t think of any other reason.
Before Bailey Hansen could answer, the car had already left the detention center, and journalists were swarming towards them.
They immediately rushed forward, blocking everyone’s path.
"Mr. Cooper, could you answer a few questions for us?"
"Mr. Cooper..."
The staff in the lead car immediately jumped out to push the journalists aside.
Finally, the car managed to leave the entrance of the detention center.
Kris Cooper didn’t pay much attention to the journalists. Once the car had driven some distance away, he immediately asked again.
"Mom, what’s really wrong with Vera?"
"Stop asking. We’ll talk about it when we get home, okay?"
"You guys..." Kris Cooper’s gaze fixed on Bailey Hansen. "Are you hiding something from me?"
Bailey Hansen didn’t make a sound.
"Mom, say something!"
Kris Cooper’s voice rose.
"Watch your tone!" From the front passenger seat, Christoper Cooper’s voice was stern. "Apologize to your mother."
"It’s okay." Bailey Hansen shook her head slightly. "We’ll talk when we get home. I’m a little tired."
Gazing at his mother’s clearly haggard face, Kris Cooper fell silent. He just reached out his long arms and wrapped them around her shoulders.
"Mom, I’m sorry. I... I didn’t mean to raise my voice at you."
Bailey Hansen gave him a small smile and reached out to pat his leg.
"I know."
In the front seat, Christoper Cooper glanced at the two of them in the rearview mirror and said nothing more.
「The Leafcastle residence.」
"Acquitted?" Nathan Leafcastle grabbed his assistant’s collar. "How?"
"Th-this..." The assistant panted for breath. "Pres-President, you need to calm down."
Nathan Leafcastle slowly released his grip on the man’s collar.
"Speak!"
"The truth is, this afternoon, Vera Wave turned herself in to the police..."
Before he could finish speaking, Nathan Leafcastle’s hand shot out again, grabbing his collar.
"You said... Vera turned herself in?!"
"Yes. Moreover, Ms. Wave has issued a public statement, admitting she was the one who pushed Mrs. Cooper down the stairs, not Kris Cooper. Consequently, the police have released Kris Cooper."
Nathan Leafcastle pushed the assistant away, cursing in anger.
"Despicable! Shameless! This must be the Cooper family’s doing! To save their own son, they actually pushed Vera into a pit of fire! They’re shameless to the extreme!"
The doorbell rang, and the assistant jogged downstairs.
