Chapter 618: Chapter 618: Please Call Me Meriana Ridley!

Setting aside Vera’s personal identity, both her image and current influence would bring vast attention to Ashton, while significantly cutting costs. From Ashton’s perspective, this was absolutely a guaranteed profitable investment.

Everyone else got up and left the office, but Vera deliberately lingered behind. She only approached when just the two of them remained in the conference room.

"Why do you insist on giving me shares?"

If she had refused in front of everyone in the company, it would have been like slapping him in the face, which was why she’d stayed behind to discuss it with him.

Although 2% might not sound like much, Ashton was a corporate giant with a market value nearing one hundred billion. That 2% alone was worth at least two billion. And that wasn’t even considering the value if the shares were cashed out; the annual profits and dividends alone were very substantial.

Kris Cooper got up and held her hand. "Do you think it’s a bit too little?"

She rolled her eyes at him. "It’s a bit little. You should give me everything!"

He took out his phone. "Then I’m calling our Finance Director now."

"Stop it!" Vera grabbed his arm, her voice earnest. "I just feel there’s no difference whether the shares are in your hands or mine!"

Kris Cooper stroked her delicate face. "If that’s the case, why are you worried?"

She paused for a moment, then understanding dawned, and she felt reassured. He’s right. I didn’t care about these things initially, so why get hung up on how many shares he gave me? It’s just a question of whether the money is under my name or his. Having come to this realization, Vera felt completely relaxed.

"Then I’ll go back to work first."

Kris Cooper handed her the documents and laptop.

"Let’s have lunch together."

"Sure!" Vera took the documents he handed her and winked playfully. "I just ’earned’ over two billion today, so... I’ll treat you!"

"Alright, little rich girl!"

She pouted. As she reached the conference room door, she turned and threw him a glance she believed was irresistibly charming. "Call me Meriana!"

Right after speaking, she turned her head, tossed her hair, and headed towards the elevator.

Kris Cooper came out of the conference room, watching her bustling silhouette with a smile and a shake of his head.

She was brimming with self-confidence now, almost exactly as she had been when he first met her six years ago. That was her at her best.

Watching her figure disappear around the bend in the corridor, Kris Cooper turned and walked towards his own office.

Clutching her things, Vera stood before the elevator, waiting for it to arrive. She began to ponder. As the new spokesperson, how can I better align myself with Ashton’s corporate culture?

DING!

The elevator doors opened.

A few figures appeared before her. The one in the lead, impeccably dressed and fashionable, was Irene Spencer.

Seeing Vera at the elevator entrance, Irene’s expression stiffened, and a flash of panic crossed her face.

Vera glanced at her and stepped aside.

Irene snapped back to reality, instinctively fixing her hair as she walked out of the elevator with her assistant. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Watching her head towards Kris Cooper’s office, Vera, who was about to step into the elevator, paused. She turned and looked at Irene.

"Wait!"

Hearing her voice, Irene’s fingers trembled, and she stopped in her tracks.

She pursed her lips, then turned back to face Vera, already managing a broad smile.

"Vera, what’s up?"
