Chapter 617: Chapter 617: Accept Less Endorsement Fee

Kate Palmer chuckled, "Vera, you won’t ask our CEO for a high asking price, will you?"

Everyone joined in the laughter.

They were husband and wife, after all, and any child born to them would be Ashton’s heir. Even though Ashton was a joint-stock company, the Cooper family still controlled the majority stake. So, whether the money was paid to Vera Wave or remained on the company’s books, it made little real difference.

Everyone was smart and clearly understood the significant attention that Vera Wave would bring to Ashton if she became the company’s spokesperson.

After the laughter subsided, the Director of the Finance Department was the first to express his opinion.

"I agree with Director Kate. Miss Wave’s image aligns well with our company’s spirit."

"I agree, too," chimed in the Director of the Marketing Department.

Afterwards, the others also voiced their agreement with the proposal.

All along, Kris Cooper neither mentioned Vera’s name nor gave his own opinion until everyone else had expressed their stance. Only then did he speak up, smiling.

"Vera, can you... for my sake, take less for the endorsement fee?"

Everyone burst into laughter again.

Vera stood up from her chair.

"Firstly, thank you all for your support. Since you all trust me so much, it’s only right that I don’t refuse, be it for business or personal reasons." She took a breath. "I can accept this job, but I have one condition."

Kris Cooper nodded.

"Go on."

"Since I’m a company employee, I should work for the company, so... I don’t want the endorsement fee."

She didn’t lack money now, and, most importantly, she didn’t mind people talking about her, but she didn’t want anyone to question Kris’s decision.

That man was her lover, her partner; she hoped to help him as much as possible at work. If this was an opportunity, she was willing to give it her all.

Nobody spoke.

Everyone was clever and understood this was an internal matter between the couple. They had no place to interfere.

Kris Cooper leaned against the back of his chair, lifted his eyes to meet her gaze, and lovingly raised the corner of his lips.

"Alright, I agree. However, Ashton has never taken advantage of any employee, so I’ll give you 2% of my personal shares as a reward." His slender fingers lightly tapped the table, his gaze soft but his tone firm. "Behave, don’t refuse!"

"AHEM!" Kate Palmer coughed lightly. "Could you two please stop showcasing your love in the company meeting?"

Everyone roared with laughter, Vera’s cheeks reddened, and Kris Cooper raised his hands in surrender.

"Apologies, I’ll be more mindful next time! So, this matter is settled. The Planning Department will handle the specific plan; the finance department will take care of the share transfer as soon as possible. If there’s nothing else, the meeting is adjourned!"

Vera declining the endorsement fee clearly stated their position. They were not trying to use this opportunity to make money from Ashton.

Kris Cooper rewarding her with his personal shares also wouldn’t affect the other shareholders. This approach satisfied all parties.

The distribution of the couple’s property wasn’t anyone else’s business. In the end, Vera didn’t take a penny from the company, leaving no room for anyone to question Kris Cooper.
