I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 524 - 522: Then Sober Up (6)
Everyone drank a little wine together, and Kenton Maverick and Kris Cooper lowered themselves into their seats. Seeing the two of them sit down, everyone else slowly followed suit.
Because Vera Wave wasn’t good with alcohol, she drank a bit slowly. After taking a couple of sips, she put down her glass, stretched both hands to adjust her dress, and leaned back in her seat.
Irene Spencer sat nearby, watching her lower herself bit by bit, a cold smile flashed through her eyes.
She couldn’t wait to see this dead girl fall flat on her back.
Just as Vera Wave was about to sit down, Kris Cooper had just put down his wine glass. He reached out, intending to serve her some food, and caught a glimpse of the chair behind her out of the corner of his eye. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly reached out to grab her arm.
"Wait!"
Vera was startled by him and stood back up from her previously seated posture.
"What’s wrong?"
"Idiot!"
She pulled the chair out herself but forgot to pull it back in. It would be a wonder if she didn’t fall sitting down like that!
Muttering under his breath, Kris Cooper stood up somewhat helplessly, helped push the chair back into its original position, and rearranged the setting before returning to his own seat.
He didn’t think too much about it, just assumed Vera had pushed the chair back when she stood up, and this girl had forgotten about it.
Vera didn’t mind much either. Sitting back down in her chair, she stuck her tongue out at him playfully, and the group continued eating.
Sitting beside them, Irene Spencer, who had been full of anticipation, nearly burst with anger.
This Kris Cooper! He was clearly talking with someone else, yet he still managed to notice her chair. It was simply unbearable!
"Sister Irene, why aren’t you eating?"
A second supporting actor noticed she hadn’t started eating and asked with concern.
"Oh..." Irene snapped out of her thoughts and hurriedly picked up her glass, "I wanted to toast to Vera. What Lucy did before was really too much. She’s already getting her just deserts now, but I still want to apologize to you on her behalf!"
"You’re too kind, Sister Irene," Vera raised her glass in response, "I’ve already forgotten about all that."
Just pretending to be magnanimous, she could do that too!
"Vera, you’re so generous!"
Irene was smiling, but she was secretly gritting her teeth. She stretched her glass over to clink with Vera’s, tilted her head back, and downed her drink in one go, then provocatively showed the empty bottom to her.
"Sister Irene, you can really drink. I can’t handle much, so I’ll just sip a little. Please don’t mind!"
Vera took a small sip and set her glass down.
Alcohol tastes great at the moment, but once it’s down, whoever suffers from it knows best.
She wouldn’t fall for such a provocation!
At this moment, Logan Miles, the leading actor, also stood up to toast everyone, and the little episode with Irene was quickly forgotten.
As the glasses clinked and the drinks flowed, they were already halfway through the meal before they realized it.
Irene then stood up, grabbed the red wine from the table, poured herself a glass, and left her seat to walk over beside Kris Cooper.
"Kris, I must toast to you!"
Kris Cooper, who was originally helping Vera peel crabs, put down the crab, grabbed a napkin to wipe his fingers, and raised his own glass, turning to clink with hers.
In front of so many people, she was the lead actress, so he gave her this bit of face.
Irene did not immediately clink glasses with him but instead stepped forward once more, standing behind him, speaking deeply.
"To be honest, I truly have to thank you for where I’ve reached today... Back in the States, during my most difficult times, it was you who helped me. Without you, there certainly wouldn’t be my achievements today!"
