Chapter 462: Chapter 460: The Only One I Love Is You (Part 4)

Inside the taxi.

Grandma Wave withdrew her gaze from the car window and turned her attention to Vera Wave’s face.

"Vera, where are we going?"

"You’ve been cooped up at home every day recently, so I’m taking you out for a spin." Vera supported the elderly woman’s arm, "Wherever you want to go, I’ll take you."

"I..." Grandma Wave thought for a moment and shook her head, "I don’t want to go anywhere, I just want to go home."

"How about..." Vera pursed her lips, "We visit another city, maybe we go to... Vanora, or the seaside... Or we could visit Vanora, and I’ll take you to the City Temple to eat snacks, sounds good?" 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"That’s far, I don’t want to go." Grandma Wave frowned, complaining like a child, "I don’t like flying..."

Vera coaxed softly, "Then... shall we find someplace nearby?"

Grandma Wave thought again, "Flowers at Jade Lake Park should be blooming now, shall we go enjoy them?"

"Okay." Vera leaned forward slightly, "Driver, Jade Lake Park please."

Everything was decided in the moment; Vera had no specific destination in mind.

All she wanted now was to leave Kris Cooper and start life anew.

Thinking of him, she became dazed again, so much so that when Grandma Wave spoke to her, she didn’t respond.

The taxi arrived near Jade Lake Park. Vera casually found a hotel, booked a room and stored the luggage, then returned to the taxi to take the elderly woman to Jade Lake Park.

A moment later, they arrived at the park. She bought tickets and two bottles of water, then walked in with Grandma Wave.

It was the time when flowers were in full bloom in spring. The park’s annual cherry blossom festival was happening, and even though it wasn’t the weekend, there were still plenty of people in the park.

From afar, the cherry blossoms bloomed brilliantly, like a sea of colorful clouds, with scenery beautiful like a painting. Unfortunately, Vera was not in the mood to appreciate them.

Grandma Wave seemed in a very good mood. Having not stepped out for a long while, the sight of the flower-laden trees brought a smile to her face.

"I remember when you were little, Grandma often took you and Kris to watch flowers and go boating here. Once, you almost got lost, Kris was so anxious he nearly cried..."

The elderly woman’s memory was poor, but she remembered most of Vera’s childhood antics.

Thus, mentioning these stories opened her floodgates.

Vera held her arm, following the flow of people forward, but was completely absent-minded, only thinking about Kris Cooper.

She wondered if he had woken up, if he knew she had left, he would certainly be furious and probably hate her, wouldn’t he?

Thinking of him made her heart pang with pain.

Grandma Wave, after all, was elderly, and slowed her pace after walking a while.

"Vera, should we head back?"

"We just got here, there’s a bench there, let’s sit for a bit."

Once she was settled on the bench, Vera opened her carried thermos, poured a cup of warm water, and cautiously fed Grandma Wave a cup. She then sat beside the elderly woman.

Grandma Wave began retelling the story of how Vera had gotten lost in this park as a child, Vera cupped her cheeks listening, tears once more blurred her vision.

After chatting for a while without a response, Grandma Wave turned to look around.

Noticing a child passing by with cotton candy, her lips curved into a smile.

"Vera, Grandma will buy cotton candy for you!"
