I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO-Chapter 452 - 451: Deep Love Results in Loneliness (4)
She was not naturally adept at these tasks, but after living this way for over a year, she had learned a fair amount, albeit still a little clumsily. She meticulously smoothed every crease, hung the shirt back on its hanger, folded the underwear neatly into the drawer, and packed the outerwear that needed cleaning into a bag. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Vera Wave wiped the sweat from her forehead. Gazing at the spotless room, she sighed in satisfaction, then turned, went downstairs, grabbed her bag, and hurried to the nearby supermarket. Kris Cooper liked juice, and only freshly squeezed. She bought plenty of fresh fruit for him, then visited the fresh food section for beef and other vegetables. Finally, she carried the numerous bags home and neatly arranged everything in the fridge.
She took a bottle of red wine from his wine rack, marinated the beef in a bowl according to an online recipe, chopped the necessary salad ingredients, placed the newly bought candles in their holders, and arranged the bouquet in a vase. When everything was prepared, and seeing it was almost time for him to finish work, she picked up her phone and sent Kris Cooper a text message.
"Honey, I’ve prepared everything. I’m waiting for you at home!"
She had initially thought that once they were married, she could cook for him and do his laundry like a proper wife... But now, it seemed this might be her only chance!
On the other end of the line, Kris Cooper was instructing Glimmer’s senior executives on upcoming matters. Feeling his phone vibrate in his pocket, he took it out and carefully read the message on the screen.
"Okay, that’s the work plan!" Tucking his phone back into his pocket, he quickly concluded, "I want to see progress by next Monday. Meeting adjourned!" With those last two words, he was already on his feet, striding out of the Conference Room.
He sent her a brief text in reply, then went straight to his office, grabbed his car keys from the desk, picked up his jacket, and turned to Tommy Taylor, who had followed him in. "Unless it’s an emergency, don’t call me."
After giving this instruction, Kris Cooper, car keys in hand, headed downstairs. By the time he was driving to the apartment, Vera was already upstairs, taking out a new dress he had bought for her on his last trip to Vanora and changing into it.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she slipped on high heels, went into the bathroom, carefully washed her face, and meticulously applied her makeup. Gazing at her increasingly radiant face in the mirror, Vera Wave lightly pursed her lips.
"Kris, I want you to remember me at my most beautiful."
The words had barely left her lips when Kris Cooper’s voice came from outside the bedroom door.
"Vera... Darling... Little one... where are you hiding?"
Vera Wave took a deep breath, stepped out of the bathroom, tiptoed to the bedroom door, and just as she heard him opening it, she slipped behind the door to hide. Kris Cooper pushed open the door and walked in, his hand already moving to unbutton his shirt cuffs.
"Stop hiding, I know you’re here. Come out!"
Quietly approaching him, Vera reached out her arms and hugged his waist from behind.
"You naughty girl!" Kris Cooper covered her hands with his and chided, "Be careful of your wound! Let go!"
She spoke from behind him, "I won’t let go!"
She might never get another chance to hug him like this. This time, she wanted to hold him properly. Tightening her arms around his waist, she pressed her face against his back, deeply inhaling his familiar scent.
